Project Overview ​ In one of the most iconic skyscrapers of Moscow City "Neva Towers", SOIA DESIGN was commissioned to design a refined, modern apartment that would harmonize with the panoramic skyline while remaining deeply personal and livable. The result is a bespoke 3D interior design project where every square meter was crafted with purpose and elegance. The Challenge The client approached us with a stunning high-rise space—but also with a complex brief: Maximize views while ensuring privacy Infuse warmth and comfort into a glass and steel environment Introduce high-end materials and modern finishes without making the space feel cold Optimize layout for both entertaining and everyday living Achieve it all remotely Our Solution ✦ Space Planning with Purpose: We reconfigured the layout to establish a seamless flow between the living, dining, and kitchen areas. Custom-built millwork and integrated storage solutions allowed us to keep the space minimalist without compromising on functionality.​ ✦ Warm Modernism: To contrast the building’s steel-and-glass architecture, we brought in natural stone, matte wood finishes, and warm lighting. Curated textures and neutral tones created a soft yet sophisticated atmosphere.​ ✦ 3D Visualization Precision: Leveraging high-end 3D modeling and photorealistic rendering, we presented the design in full detail—allowing the client to walk through the space virtually, make informed decisions, and see exactly how each element would look and feel.​ ✦ Tailored Detailing: Every aspect was custom—from the furniture selection and lighting scenarios to the precise alignment of veined marble in the bathroom. We collaborated with local artisans and international brands to bring this level of refinement to life.​ The Impact The final design not only honored the prestige of Neva Towers but elevated it into a private sanctuary above the city. What began as a challenging high-rise shell became a warm, modern home tailored to the client’s lifestyle.

This home evokes a sensuous St. Barth lifestyle on Lake Michigan, designed for globetrotting clients who wanted a weekend sanctuary near their primary residence in Chicago. The project brief included open plan living for entertaining, a family lounge, and bedroom suites for houseguests. The first level is a glass rectangular volume that makes the second level appear to float over the dune and offers water views through the structure. Clad in Accoya, the upper level will gray with age and blend into the landscape. These two horizontal volumes are connected by a double-height glass entry space that reveals a floating staircase. A contemporary beach aesthetic unifies the interior through an edited palette of materials, including white oak millwork, large-format porcelain tile, and a range of warm whites. Interior tile extends out to the pool terrace, uniting the spaces and amplifying the connection to the outdoors. The landscape design enhances the experience. A courtyard with sculptural Ginkgo trees offers refuge from lake breezes. On the pool terrace, custom Cor-Ten planters overflow with Russian Sage, selected for graceful foliage that sways in the breeze and offers a relaxing herbal aroma.

Our design team was tasked with remodelling a section of our client’s home to feature a bespoke boot room, walk-in pantry, utility, desk area and luxurious kitchen. Key to the brief was the joinery design to suit each area practically and visually, with a natural flow through to connect all the spaces.

The brief was to create a Classic Contemporary Ensuite and Principle bedroom which would be home to a number of Antique furniture items, a traditional fireplace and Classical artwork. We created key zones within the bathroom to make sufficient use of the large space; providing a large walk-in wet-floor shower, a concealed WC area, a free-standing bath as the central focus in symmetry with his and hers free-standing basins. We ensured a more than adequate level of storage through the vanity unit, 2 bespoke cabinets next to the window and above the toilet cistern as well as plenty of ledge spaces to rest decorative objects and bottles. We provided a number of task, accent and ambient lighting solutions whilst also ensuring the natural lighting reaches as much of the room as possible through our design. Our installation detailing was delivered to a very high level to compliment the level of product and design requirements.

Our clients – a family of four – had moved into a terraced home that needed updating. Our brief was an interiors scheme for the whole house. The living room needed character adding back to it, so we chose pieces that complimented the original features of the beautiful house. The neutral bathroom was designed to feel light and airy. In the kitchen, deep hues compliment neutral wood, for a modern update. For the study area – an extension of the living room – we chose a muted blue to contrast against the light oak, for a calming space to work, featuring bespoke joinery (seen here).

Canynge Square The design brief was for the room to be ‘simple yet striking’; Combining contemporary form with traditional craft techniques and classical proportions. This kitchen incorporates American black Walnut internals, minimalist shaker doors and drawer fronts, hand painted in Slaked Lime, complimented by burnished copper handles and Taj Mahal Quartz stone. Kitchen in a 1926 bungalow done to my clients brief that it should look 'original' to the house. The three stars of the kitchen are the immaculately restored 1928 high-oven WEDGWOOD stove, the SubZero refrigerator/freezer disguised to look like a vintage ice-box, complete with vintage hardware, and the kitchen island, designed to reference a farm-house table with a pie-save underneath, done in ebonized oak and painted bead-board. The floor is lip-stick red Marmoleum with double inlaid black borders, the counters are honed black granite, and the cabinets, walls, and trim are painted a soft cream-color taken from a 1926 Dutch Boy paint deck. The homeowner brief: a contemporary basement lounge for a young adult. The existing carpet was replaced by engineered hardwood. We sourced all furniture, the floor and the rug, and specified the wall colour. The result was an easy to live in space, comfortable and colourful. Built on a dune overlooking Lake Michigan, this residence appears to emerge from the landscape. The project brief called for an artful house that promotes wellness and outdoor living. Rugged beauty and four-season adventure drew the owners to the area but presented challenges, including wildfire risk. The site needed a durable shelter that responsibly integrates with the environment. Clad in sand-colored stucco, the house will intentionally be obscured by grasses and junipers over time. Outdoor spaces are layered to match the undulating topography. A steel superstructure enables an ultra-thin roof with overhangs for passive solar design that withstand gale-force winds and heavy snow loads. A crushed-granite courtyard offers refuge on windy days. This space is enclosed by operable Cor-Ten panels that rotate open to reveal dune views or close for a cloistered experience. The courtyard is further defined by a deconstructed roof with an aperture that frames sky views. Expansive glazing and porcelain flooring unites interior and exterior, evoking a sense of inhabiting an infinity house. A screen porch, concealed by louvers, is a contemporary interpretation of a time-honored lake house vernacular. ​Layers of light and an edited palette of materials unify the interior and evoke a laid-back feeling of beach towns. On both levels, bronze glass walls artfully define rooms while preserving views.

A couple took ownership of their new residence on a top floor of a quiet street in central Lisbon. Our studio’s brief was to transform the duplex into a hideaway to detach from daily life and spend quality time with visiting relatives. The design manifests family-focused features: upon entry, there is plentiful storage for shoes and coats; in the main living room, a custom island crafted in solid surface extends the compact kitchen into the social area, seamlessly bridging cooking and convivial gatherings. A buffet supports more elaborate meals. Sculptural pendants and niches that accentuate horizontal continuity favor interaction between the dining and flexible lounge areas. Reimagined with durable materials, the bathrooms embrace efficiency and elegance. Cabinetry is integrated around the planes of countertops and insets carried across the room. Dark wood and textured accents punctuate the white surfaces, grounding the spaces in tactile warmth. The bedrooms, designed for adaptability, offer separable sleeping arrangements, peaceful workspaces, and versatile wardrobe solutions. The light-toned furniture and organic elements are tailored to the interior, softening the contrasting architectural palette and rectilinear forms. Soothing accent lighting is interwoven throughout, offering an adaptable, serene atmosphere.

The design brief for this period addition to a classic c. 1820 center hall New England farmhouse was to include fully modernized kitchen, living/dining and master bedroom suite addition while complementing the original materials detailing and finishes, including new porches, dormers and corner bay window.
