The new driveway is designed to be permeable. A cobblestone apron makes a nice transition from public roadway to private drive. The crushed stone drive leads to a parking area paved with permeable concrete paver units.

Designed by John Mariani, this formal garden uses native plants for a traditional design with an exceptional environmental twist. Taking advantage of the many benefits of native materials, like less maintenance, watering, fertilizing; a naturally acclimation to the environment; and generation of a habitat for wildlife that adds life to the space, the many plants chosen each fulfill a different need- height, color, and texture. Location: Hingham, MA, USA This newly constructed home in Hingham, MA was designed to openly embrace the seashore landscape surrounding it. The front entrance has a relaxed elegance with a classic plant theme of boxwood, hydrangea and grasses. The back opens to beautiful views of the harbor, with a terraced patio running the length of the house. The infinity pool blends seamlessly with the water landscape and splashes over the wall into the weir below. Planting beds break up the expanse of paving and soften the outdoor living spaces. The sculpture, made by a personal friend of the family, creates a stunning focal point with the open sky and sea behind. One side of the property was densely planted with large Spruce, Juniper and Birch on top of a 7' berm to provide instant privacy. Hokonechloa grass weaves its way around Annabelle Hydrangeas and Flower Carpet Roses. The other side had an existing stone stairway which was enhanced with a grove of Birch, hydrangea and Hakone grass. The Limelight Tree Hydrangeas and Boxwood offer a fresh welcome, while the Miscanthus grasses add a casual touch. The Stone wall and patio create a resting spot between rounds of tennis. The granite steps in the lawn allow for a comfortable transition up a steeper slope.

This Jack n Jill bathroom serves the guest bedroom as well as the clients young daughter. With a lot of thought we were able to get a full suite in here. The spacious shower has an adjustable head for different heights, it is tiled in 12x12 sheets of marble, the ceiling is also tiled. For the floors i chose a herringbone design to give a flow from room to room. The custom made vanity has antiqued mirrored door inserts which pick up on the star mirrored chandelier. I had been carrying this wallpaper with me from England for about 13 years! The client fell in love with it and we decided to use the little star print, it looks as though it's been there forever.

This house has made the front cover of New England Home issue of May-June 2016. For the living room fireplace, a floating 5” thick steel wall panels were designed combining of a two tones of concrete fireplace enclosure and hearth. To soften and balance the bold lines of steel and concrete, a 3” thick floating shelves were designed. of This created a simple and yet artful effect in this design and a 9" floating Raw steel panels created a simple and yet artful effect in this design, and use of salvaged wood and materials added a needed warmth for a cold Vermont climate. - Photo credit: Susan Teare
