This message center around the kitchen features a built-in cork wall to post family calendars and notes. Also the base cabinet is raised from the floor to allow space for the pet's bowls.

This clean and classic Northern Westchester kitchen features a mix of colors and finishes. The perimeter of the kitchen including the desk area is painted in Benjamin Moore’s Nordic White with satin chrome hardware. The island features Benjamin Moore’s Blue Toile with satin brass hardware. The focal point of the space is the Cornu Fe range and custom hood in satin black with brass and chrome trim. Crisp white subway tile covers the backwall behind the cooking area and all the way up the sink wall to the ceiling. In place of wall cabinets, the client opted for thick white open shelves on either side of the window above the sink to keep the space more open and airier. Countertops are a mix of Neolith’s Estatuario on the island and Ash Grey marble on the perimeter. Hanging above the island are Circa Lighting’s the “Hicks Large Pendants” by designer Thomas O’Brien; above the dining table is Tom Dixon’s “Fat Pendant”. Just off of the kitchen is a wet bar conveniently located next to the living area, perfect for entertaining guests. They opted for a contemporary look in the space. The cabinetry is Yosemite Bronzato laminate in a high gloss finish coupled with open glass shelves and a mirrored backsplash. The classic modern design of this kitchen was planned for an active young family of four who uses the space as their central hub for gathering, eating and staying connected. Our goals were to create a beautiful and highly functional kitchen with an emphasis on cabinet organization, heated floors and incorporating a live edge slab countertop. We removed an existing bulky island and replaced it with a new island that while only 60 x 26 in size packs a powerful punch housing a baking center, trash/recycle center, microwave oven and cookbook storage. The island seemed the natural place for the gorgeous live edge slab coupled with vintage mercury glass light pendants that make for a truly stunning kitchen island. Polished carrara quartz perimeter counters pair beautifully with the watery blue-green glass backsplash tile. A message center conveniently located on a side panel of the refrigerator cabinet houses built in mailboxes, a family calendar and magnetic surface to display the children’s artwork. This kitchen was designed for a very active family. The goal was light, bright, and functional. Matte finish Caesarstone counters and Smudge Proof stainless appliances all help Mom keep maintenance to a minimum. We chose high gloss white cabinets with co-ordinating striation bases to give this Kitchen a clean and contemporary feel. The backsplash features a beautiful back painted glass subway tile with a soft off white pearlescent shimmer. The Kitchen needed to pack a lot of punch functionally for optimal storage capacity. Interior Designer Rael Hay cleverly capitalized on every square inch even devising a “Command Centre” for Mom - complete with homework organizer, family calendar, additional storage and Charging Station ready for the lap top. The Cherry Road project is a humble yet striking example of how small changes can have a big impact. A meaningful project as the final room to be renovated in this house, thus our completion aligned with the family’s move-in. The kitchen posed a number of problems the design worked to remedy. Such as an existing window oriented the room towards a neighboring driveway. The initial design move sought to reorganize the space internally, focusing the view from the sink back through the house to the pool and courtyard beyond. This simple repositioning allowed the range to center on the opposite wall, flanked by two windows that reduce direct views to the driveway while increasing the natural light of the space. Opposite that opening to the dining room, we created a new custom hutch that has the upper doors bypass doors incorporate an antique mirror, then led they magnified the light and view opposite side of the room. The ceilings we were confined to eight foot four, so we wanted to create as much verticality as possible. All the cabinetry was designed to go to the ceiling, incorporating a simple coat mold at the ceiling. The west wall of the kitchen is primarily floor-to-ceiling storage behind paneled doors. So the refrigeration and freezers are fully integrated. The island has a custom steel base with hammered legs, with a natural wax finish on it. The top is soapstone and incorporates an integral drain board in the kitchen sink. We did custom bar stools with steel bases and upholstered seats. At the range, we incorporated stainless steel countertops to integrate with the range itself, to make that more seamless flow. The edge detail is historic from the 1930s. At the range itself, there are a number of custom detailed incorporated for storage of cooking oils and spices, in a pullout. A custom knife block that's in a pull out as well.There is a concealed sort of office for the homeowner behind custom, bi-folding panel doors. So it can be closed and totally concealed, or opened up and engaged with the kitchen. In the office area, which was a former pantry, we repurposed a granite marble top that was on the former island. The walls have a grasscloth wall covering, which is pinnable, so the homeowner can display photographs, calendars, and schedules.

This little girls bedroom started out as a playroom before she was born. You can still see remnants of the former room in the carpet tiles and built-in toy storage. We began the transformation with a pink ceiling that runs down the wall about 18", grey walls below to help dilute the brightness a little and provide a backdrop for other pops of color. This antique bed was drug out of her great-grandmothers attic, as well as the dresser and dressing table. They were all given some much needed love with bright paint colors to match the little girls personality. A window seat with toy storage below was fixed with a purple seat cushion, throw pillows, and a glass bird in a pink birdcage. Wrapping paper was glued below the window seat and on the cabinet doors as wall paper to provide a little pattern in the room. Original kids artwork as well as calendar photos are framed throughout the room. A body pillow creates a comfortable headboard and a colorful, butterfly pattern (which is where most of the colors for the room were pulled) adorn the bed with all white bedding.
