After searching for the perfect Paris apartment that could double as an atelier for five years, Laure Nell Interiors founder and principal Laetitia Laurent fell in love with this 415-square-foot pied-à-terre that packs a punch. Situated in the coveted Golden Triangle area in the 8th arrondissement—between avenue Montaigne, avenue des Champs-Elysées and avenue George V—the apartment was destined to be fashionable. The building’s Hausmannian architecture and a charming interior courtyard make way for modern interior architectural detailing that had been done during a previous renovation. Hardwood floors with deep black knotting, slatted wood paneling, and blue lacquer in the built-ins gave the apartment an interesting contemporary twist against the otherwise classic backdrop, including the original fireplace from the Hausmann era. Laure Nell Interiors played up this dichotomy with playfully curated furnishings and lighting found during Paris Design Week: a mid-century Tulip table in the dining room, a coffee table from the NV Gallery x J’aime tout chez toi capsule collection, and a fireside chair from Popus Editions, a Paris-London furniture line with a restrained French take on British-inspired hues. In the bedroom, black and white details nod to Coco Chanel and ochre-colored bedding keeps the aesthetic current. A pendant from Oi Soi Oi lends the room a minimalist Asian element reminiscent of Laurent’s time in Kyoto. Inspired by several boutique hotels in New York City, the selections throughout this home will bring you through a bit of a time capsule. This house sits right on the East side of Lake Washington and has gorgeous views from all main living areas in the home. This house has several unique features such as the custom wine wall that acts as a partition between the formal dining room and dining nook, the brick-lined media room that has an opening to the game room wet bar, a spacious outdoor living area with a fireplace, vaulted ceilings in the master bedroom, and a homework room with a custom sliding steel door.

This most recent remodel project in Albany beautifully marries the charm of the past with the functionality of the present. Under the expert guidance of Project Manager, Steve Shanholtz, and Designer, Sarah McDonald, we transformed this cherished space that had been home to many generations into a modern masterpiece. The client was looking to update the home while preserving its unique history from the 1800s. One of the many standout features of this home was its stunning patterned wood floor which we carefully restored to its former glory. The wood ceiling, another remarkable element of this space, was covered to allow a modern feel as well as create a time capsule for a future owner. We also removed the fireplace fully intact to showcase in a different area of the home. Crisp navy and white cabinets brought a clean and timeless look to the kitchen creating a harmonious blend with the warmth of the island, counters and backsplash. These homeowners were ecstatic upon seeing their request for an island that could house their farm sink AND dishwasher become a reality. This remodel isn’t just about the past, it’s also about the future. We were able to embody the essence of transformation while respecting the history, a true testament to the power of design and the skilled hands of a master craftsman.

What once was a 1980's time capsule, is now beautiful lakefront living with a glam vibe. A complete renovation including the kitchen, all three bathrooms and adding a custom bar room. However, we didn't stop there! Custom designed interiors throughout the entire home, makes this residence a comfortable and chic place to live. Finding inspiration from their lake view, we incorporated that element throughout the home. A tasteful white and blue palette mixed with metals and lovely textures. This Eichler-esque house, in a neighborhood known for its tracts of homes by the famous developer, was a little different from the rest- a one-off custom build from 1962 that had mid-century modern bones but funky, neo-traditional finishes in the worn-out, time capsule state that the new owners found it. This called for an almost-gut remodel to keep the good, upgrade the building’s envelope and MEP systems, and reimagine the home’s character. To create a home that feels of its times, both now and then- A mid-century for the 21st century. At the center of the existing home was a long, slender rectangular form that contained a fireplace, an indoor BBQ, and kitchen storage, and on the other side an original, suspended wood and steel rod stair down to the bedroom level below. Under the carpeted treads we were sure we’d find beautiful oak, as this stair was identical to one at our earlier Clarendon heights mid-century project. This elegant core was obscured by walls that enclosed the kitchen and breakfast areas and a jumble of aged finishes that hid the elegance of this defining element. Lincoln Lighthill Architect removed the walls and unified the core’s finishes with light grey ground-face concrete block on the upgraded fireplace and BBQ, lacquered cabinets, and chalkboard paint at the stair wall for the owners’ young children to decorate. A new skylight above the stair washes this wall with light and brightens up the formerly dark center of the house. The rest of the interior is a combination of mid-century-inspired elements and modern updates. New finishes throughout- cork flooring, ground-face concrete block, Heath tile, and white birch millwork give the interior the mid-century character it never fully had, while modern, minimalist detailing gives it a timeless, serene simplicity. New lighting throughout, mostly indirect and all warm-dim LED , subtly and efficiently lights the home. All new plumbing and fixtures similarly reduce the home’s use of precious resources. On the exterior, new windows, insulation, and roofing provide modern standards of comfort and efficiency, while a new paint job and brick stain give the house an elegant yet playful character, with the golden yellow Heath tile from the primary bathroom floor reappearing on the front door.

French doors from the attic were refurbished and returned to their original place. Many original elements remained including the baseboards, door and window trim, hardware and radiators but most shoe moulding was missing so moulding was installed to match the three different types originally in the house.
