MacPherson Construction and Design

We've worked as a MacPherson subcontractor for over 10 years and they are by far the best general contractor we work for. Every aspect of their business is run the right way, they are responsive, follow through with every detail, always pay on time (and frequnetly early). They are small enough that they can care about what they do, large enough to handle any size project. After 15 years of owning my own business and working with well over 100 general contractors MacPherson is at the top of that list. Other contractors could learn some lessons from how MacPherson operates.

We’ve been working with MacPherson Constuction for the last 16 years. We work together well, often there are challenges in implementing design ideas. Their team has always found a way to make them work and stay within the codes that we have to abide by. I highly recommend them!

MacPherson Construction was awesome! We did a complete exterior remodel (from wood siding to stucco) to update the look of our 4500 sqft home. Roger MacPherson (owner) and Jeff Dixon (Project manager) were incredibly attentive and responsive to our needs. Their sub-contractors were courteous, clean, professional and friendly. We were provided a detailed scope of work/costs estimate and we received regular updates on work progress and budget. Our project was completed on time and within budget. The finished project is exceptional! We have the highest praise for MacPherson!

We have just begun the framing process but so far have really enjoyed working with Roger and his team. This is our second home build and has been significantly less stressful and much more pleasurable! His team is top notch and anytime I stop by the office I am greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. We hope to be enjoying our new home soon!

We are working with MacPherson Construction & Design to build our custom waterfront home and it has been a great experience. Roger has been super helpful in helping us determine the style of house, translating our requirements into paper and partnering with us on designing our home with unique attributes throughout. Roger is talented, creative and very accepting of feedback and often, bettering the original design and adding something new that we had not thought of. We have been working with Kathy who is our designer and has been fantastic in understanding our taste/ design, and offering us solutions that we like. She has been great at doing the research, narrowing down options that will work for our style of home, and then enabling us to make a decision based on cost, style. Others on the team - Pete, Tom, Dan, Kathy, Becki to name a few, have been extremely supportive, responsive and great to work with, as we go through the home-building process. We are very comfortable stating our needs or concerns, challenges and the MacPherson team is always there to problem solve and find a better solution. We are thrilled with the progress made and are looking forward to our finished home!

I am on my third project with MacPherson Construction and Design. Each has been managed by a different professional superintendent and each has done an excellent job of developing a budget and delivering a quality product in line with that budget. On the last two projects MacPherson Design did the architectural work. Roger and all of his staff and subs do great work and are a pleasure work with. I'm not sure I'll have a fourth project, but if I do I'll be back with Roger and his team.

I previously worked as a Designer for MacPherson Construction & Design for 3 years. I can honestly say you will not find a better home designer/builder in the area. The employees are top notch and a majority of them have been with the company for over 20 years. That goes to show what a great employer they are. Their homes are built with the highest level of craftsmanship and care. No detail goes unnoticed. Many of the clients are repeat clients, with some having done even 3 or 4 projects with MacPherson over the years. I think this really speaks wonders about the company and the homes they produce. Many people going through the process of building a home will complain and say 'I'm never building a home again', but with MacPherson this is not the case. Their integrated design-build process ensures that the architect and designer are in direct communication with the project manager building the home. Everything is seamlessly integrated which makes for happy clients all around. It really is a small family environment where you will feel comfortable with your architect, designer, and project manager from the get go. We had a house built by MacPherson Construction & Design in 2000 and it was a painless—in fact very enjoyable—experience from start to finish. The quality of work was top notch and we never had a single issue related to the work done by MacPherson. 12 years later we moved into another house and hired MacPherson to do an extensive kitchen remodel that included bumping out an external wall and a total gut and reconfiguration of the kitchen. Our experience with the remodel was just as pleasant as was the construction of our other house.

We hired MacPherson Construction for a major remodel that brought a 23 year old home up to brand new. Roger and his team replaced every single door and window, repaired the outdoor decks and completely replaced the dryvit with stucco. On the interior, we painted, carpeted, refinished floors and cabinets and reconfigured the upstairs to a finish quality consistent with the downstairs. Through out the process Roger and Steve (our primary contact) went out of their way to ensure our work was top quality and exactly what we wanted. This is our second time working with the MacPherson construction team, I have to say they exceeded our expectations in every way! Every part of the construction experience, from design, to interiors & finishes, to quality of work, to timeliness and clarity of billing, was exceptional!

We have worked with MCD on 2 major prospects. They first did a major remodel on our home in Redmond where we added a huge bonus room above our 3 car garage. We decided to work with MCD because of their work on several Street of Dreams homes and they did not disappoint. Then we asked MCD to design and build our home on Mercer Island. Again, we are 100% happy with the work that they did. The common threads in both projects are 1) they were fantastic to work with throughout the entire process with tons of communication; and 2) they have always addressed any issues immediately, even after 8 years of living in the house!
