Friends and neighbors of an owner of Four Elements asked for help in redesigning certain elements of the interior of their newer home on the main floor and basement to better reflect their tastes and wants (contemporary on the main floor with a more cozy rustic feel in the basement). They wanted to update the look of their living room, hallway desk area, and stairway to the basement. They also wanted to create a 'Game of Thrones' themed media room, update the look of their entire basement living area, add a scotch bar/seating nook, and create a new gym with a glass wall. New fireplace areas were created upstairs and downstairs with new bulkheads, new tile & brick facades, along with custom cabinets. A beautiful stained shiplap ceiling was added to the living room. Custom wall paneling was installed to areas on the main floor, stairway, and basement. Wood beams and posts were milled & installed downstairs, and a custom castle-styled barn door was created for the entry into the new medieval styled media room. A gym was built with a glass wall facing the basement living area. Floating shelves with accent lighting were installed throughout - check out the scotch tasting nook! The entire home was also repainted with modern but warm colors. This project turned out beautiful!

This family and had been living in their 1917 Tangletown neighborhood, Minneapolis home for over two years and it wasn’t meeting their needs.
The lack of AC in the bathroom was an issue, the bathtub leaked frequently, and their lack of a shower made it difficult for them to use the space well. After researching Design/Build firms, they came to Castle on the recommendations from others.
Wanting a clean “canvas” to work with, Castle removed all the flooring, plaster walls, tiles, plumbing and electrical fixtures. We replaced the existing window with a beautiful Marvin Integrity window with privacy glass to match the rest of the home.
A bath fan was added as well as a much smaller radiator. Castle installed a new cast iron bathtub, tub filler, hand shower, new custom vanity from the Woodshop of Avon with Cambria Weybourne countertop and a recessed medicine cabinet. Wall sconces from Creative lighting add personality to the space.
The entire space feels charming with all new traditional black and white hexagon floor tile, tiled shower niche, white subway tile bath tub surround, tile wainscoting and custom shelves above the toilet.
Just outside the bathroom, Castle also installed an attic access ladder in their hallway, that is not only functional, but aesthetically pleasing.
Come see this project on the 2018 Castle Educational Home Tour, September 29 – 30, 2018.

The homeowner of this 1900’s 1 and 3/4 story home in Northeast Minneapolis came to Castle with hopes of opening up the kitchen to become a more functional space to better suit his passion for cooking. The inspiration behind the design came from collected magazine clippings that helped to inspire the overall aesthetic of the space. A consistent theme behind the inspiration was minimalistic finishes and clean lines throughout the spaces. Designer Emily Blonigen was able to achieve the overall desired look with a neutral gray and white color palette, pops of modern mood and simplistic lines throughout.
The new kitchen features sleek gray cabinets that compliment the brand new stainless steel appliances. To bring depth and dimension to the space, a textural natural stone backsplash and gray silestone countertops were selected. The homeowner did his own painting in the kitchen. For a pop of color, he included a green accent cove which matches the unique original trim that is continued throughout the rest of the home. Finally, the pantry found itself relocated to make way for a brand new staircase leading down to the basement.

Solid construction meets beautiful, elegant design. Here's a look at our new curved panels featured on our best selling "Got It" bunk bed. Many industry manufactures would use resin to create the curved look, but not at Maxtrix! We use only solid wood frame construction. We've added an under-bed curtain here for a fun factor and under-bed storage drawers for functionality. Add a white solid wood nightstand to finish the look.

Perfect for our low or mid lofts or bunks, add a grey, blue or red curtain to the front (option for side panels too!) for an immediate "private" play or reading nook! Take down the curtains at a later time and let them bed grow up with your child.
