The basement was dark, damp & underused. There was flooding every spring which was causing significant water damage, which if left unaddressed would cause bigger headaches in the future. With a growing family, the space needed to accommodate an extra bedroom, a large second family room, as well as a well-lit, modern bathroom with a sauna & shower.

The reddish brown glaze of this pot accentuates the lighter colors of the house behind it, yet doesn't give it too much of a pop of color that is causes a distraction.

The Kipling house is a new addition to the Montrose neighborhood. Designed for a family of five, it allows for generous open family zones oriented to large glass walls facing the street and courtyard pool. The courtyard also creates a buffer between the master suite and the children's play and bedroom zones. The master suite echoes the first floor connection to the exterior, with large glass walls facing balconies to the courtyard and street. Fixed wood screens provide privacy on the first floor while a large sliding second floor panel allows the street balcony to exchange privacy control with the study. Material changes on the exterior articulate the zones of the house and negotiate structural loads.

Once all the leaves have fallen, clean and inspect your homes gutters and downspouts. Clogged gutters are a major cause of ice dams!

This space had the potential for greatness but was stuck in the 1980's era. We were able to transform and re-design this kitchen that now enables it to be called not just a "dream Kitchen", but also holds the award for "Best Kitchen in Westchester for 2016 by Westchester Home Magazine".
