Texas Monthly Magazine's Star Home, built by Silverton Custom Homes. This home was also part of the 2014 Austin HBA Parade of Homes and was voted the people's choice & awarded best in show along with best; architectural, interior & innovative design, best kitchen & best unique green feature.
This Hill Country Contemporary Home has a classic and timeless design with a fresh & updated point of view.
From the moment you step into this home you will get swept away by the stunning vistas, endless hilltops and the winding river disappearing off into the distance, enjoyed in all its splendor from the commanding living area that defines "great room" with a massive clear story ceiling and exposed trusses. The simply gorgeous kitchen serves as the central hub and flows right into the large dining area with a sloped wood ceiling, creating just enough distinction. The home has a unique surprise that will allow it to stay beautiful even during large gourmet dinner parties. This multi-functional "prep-kitchen" features a full working kitchen on one side, a large "craft island" in the middle and a section dedicated to cleaning on the other side. This home is perfect for hosting any gathering.

This stunning kitchen transformation proves that warm, earthy tones can be just as striking as classic white — and far more personal. The result is a sophisticated, chef-caliber space that feels layered, collected, and completely livable, with a color story rooted in nature and elevated by thoughtful material choices throughout.
The perimeter cabinetry is finished in a rich warm greige — that perfect blend of gray and beige that feels both current and timeless — running floor to ceiling with generous crown molding detail and brushed brass bar pulls that catch the light beautifully. The custom range hood, painted to match and finished with elegant curved molding, anchors the cooking wall and creates an architectural focal point that draws the eye immediately upon entering the room.
The central island makes a bold and confident design statement in a contrasting sage green, a color choice that bridges the warm cabinetry and cool marble-look quartz countertops with unexpected harmony. The island countertop — a striking Calacatta-style quartz with dramatic gold veining — extends across all perimeter surfaces, tying the entire kitchen together under one cohesive material story. A large white farmhouse apron-front sink sits within the island, paired with a brushed champagne bronze gooseneck faucet and matching pot filler above the range — hardware details that elevate the space from beautiful to truly bespoke.
The backsplash deserves its own moment: a full-field installation of a tone-on-tone marble mosaic tile in soft white, warm gray, and hints of gold runs wall to wall and floor to ceiling behind the range — a shimmering, textural surface that catches the light throughout the day and gives the kitchen an almost jewel-box quality up close. Three oversized sage green dome pendant lights with brass interiors and gold rods hang above the island, echoing the island color and creating a perfectly coordinated, designer-curated look.
The professional-grade Wolf dual-fuel range with signature red knobs commands the cooking wall — a statement appliance that signals serious culinary intent while adding a pop of bold color that energizes the otherwise soft palette. Panel-ready refrigerator cabinetry seamlessly integrates the appliance wall into the overall design, maintaining the clean, furniture-like quality of the custom cabinetry throughout.
The remodel extends into the adjacent family room, where a full fireplace surround tiled in the same marble mosaic as the kitchen backsplash creates a cohesive design thread between the two spaces. A warm wood mantel, linen drapery, and a mix of cognac leather and cream upholstery complete a sitting area that feels like a natural, harmonious extension of the kitchen beyond.
Find the right local pro for your project

Running a small restaurant is a high-wire act - delicious plates on one end, razor-thin margins on the other. With food costs averaging 28-35 percent of revenue and labor at 30 percent, every dollar counts. The good news? Targeted tweaks can shave 10-20 percent off your bottom line without sacrificing quality. From smarter sourcing to streamlined waste handling, these strategies empower independents to thrive. One underrated gem: Efficient waste management via roll-off dumpster rentals, which can slash disposal fees by up to 40 percent. Let's break it down.
Optimize Inventory: Waste Less, Save More
Overstocked pantries are profit killers - U.S. restaurants toss $25 billion in food yearly. Audit weekly. Track sales data to forecast demand, using apps like Toast or MarketMan for real-time insights. Trim your menu to 12-15 core items, focusing on seasonal, high-margin stars like farm-fresh salads over imported proteins. Portion control is key - pre-weighed scoops cut overuse by 15 percent.
Repurpose scraps creatively. Veggie peels into stocks, bread ends for croutons. Donate extras to food banks via apps like Too Good To Go, earning tax deductions up to $5,000 annually. These habits reclaim 5-10 percent of food budgets, freeing cash for upgrades. Additionally, consider using citrus rinds for infused oils or desserts, and coffee grounds for compost to support local gardens. Engaging staff in sustainability efforts also builds morale and can be highlighted in marketing materials to attract eco-conscious diners.
Trim Energy and Utilities: Go Green for Greenbacks
Utilities gobble 4-10 percent of expenses. Swap to LED bulbs and energy-star appliances - upfront costs pay back in 6-12 months via 20-30 percent bill drops. Install low-flow faucets and programmable thermostats; during off-hours, dial down to 55°F to save $200/month on HVAC.
Use induction cooktops for precise heat, reducing gas by 15 percent. Train staff on "last out" protocols - unplugging idle equipment. Solar panels? For rooftops under 1,000 sq ft, incentives cover 30 percent installation, yielding ROI in 5 years.
Master Waste Management: Dumpsters as Cost Commanders
Trash isn't just garbage - it's a budget black hole, with disposal eating 2-5 percent of revenues. Small spots generate 1-2 tons monthly from food scraps, packaging, and grease. Ditch overflowing bins and irregular hauls for roll-off dumpster rentals. A 10-15 yard unit centralizes waste, handling bulk like fryer oil drums or produce crates without daily pickups.
Efficiency Over Headcount
Labor's your biggest line item - cross-train staff for multi-roles, like servers prepping during lulls, trimming overtime 10-15 percent. Shift scheduling software optimizes based on reservations, avoiding idle payroll.
Negotiate bulk buys with local suppliers for 5-10 percent discounts; loyalty programs from Sysco yield free deliveries. Go digital - QR menus cut printing costs, speed table turnover, and allow menu updates in real time without waste. Loyalty apps boost repeat visits without increasing your advertising budget, making it easier to track customer preferences and send targeted promotions. Consider bundling purchases with other area restaurants to unlock deeper discounts and leverage supplier relationships for exclusive seasonal specials. These strategies can reduce overhead, improve customer retention, and keep operations flexible as trends shift.

The kitchen features a grand central island that serves as a functional and visual focal point for the home. A striking gold chandelier hangs above, commanding attention while balancing the soaring vaulted ceilings and signature wood beams. We contrasted the dramatic black brick accent wall with warm wood cabinetry and black woven stools to reinforce a sophisticated modern organic aesthetic. The large picture window frames the Scottsdale landscape, flooding the workspace and marble farmhouse sink with natural light. Every staging detail was selected to highlight this gourmet space as a bright, expansive, and high end environment for entertaining.

From builder standard to designer upgrade.
A recent project of ours in Harrison NY had us taking an adequate builder designed kitchen to something much more special. The original layout led to traffic jams while entertaining and valuable storage was lost due to the fact that the cabinets did not go to the ceiling.
The new design moves the refrigerator out of the traffic pattern that often lead to gridlock
in previous years as well as providing ample storage for trays and baking sheets in the slim pantry. Grillwork doors allow for airflow from the air-conditioning vents, while still allowing for cabinets to the ceiling.
A professional grade range replaces the old smaller model, with a heavy-duty hood to assure complete ventilation no matter what the cook creates. The microwave moves farther down the work triangle to assure that the heating of a cup of coffee or bag of popcorn need never interfere with the chef again. Equally of value is the island mini-frig not just to chill the occasional bottle of wine, but to keep the kids sodas out the main refrigerator.
And then there is the desk/ command central area. The formerly blank wall where no piece of furniture seemed to fit, because of the radiator, has become an efficient home office.
With room for two people to work, grown-ups can search Food Network for recipes while the kids do their homework – problem area solved!

This breathtaking kitchen remodel strikes the perfect balance between timeless traditional elegance and modern culinary functionality. The result is a bright, airy chef's kitchen that feels simultaneously grand and warmly livable — a space the whole family gravitates toward.
The design is anchored by crisp white inset-style cabinetry with polished nickel hardware that runs floor to ceiling, maximizing every inch of storage while creating a cohesive, custom built-in aesthetic. The standout feature is the two-tone treatment: upper perimeter cabinets in a clean bright white contrast beautifully against the large central island dressed in a sophisticated warm gray, adding depth and visual interest without disrupting the room's airy palette.
Countertops throughout are a show-stopping Calacatta-style quartz, featuring dramatic gray veining on a bright white ground — lending the look of natural marble with the durability of engineered stone. The oversized island provides abundant prep space, seating for four along a generous overhang, and a farmhouse-style undermount sink with a polished nickel bridge faucet.
The statement-making custom range hood commands the cooking wall, flanked by stacked glass-front upper cabinets that showcase colorful ceramics as living decor. Behind the professional-grade gas range, a layered backsplash tells a tile story: classic white subway tile anchors the field, while a striking marble herringbone mosaic creates a focal tile mural directly behind the hood — a detail that reads as pure artistry. A wall-mounted pot filler in polished nickel adds both practicality and old-world charm.
Three oversized geometric polished nickel pendant lanterns hang from the tray ceiling, drawing the eye up while flooding the space with ambient light. The kitchen flows seamlessly into a sun-drenched breakfast room wrapped in plantation shutters and blue-and-white toile valances, where a warm wood round dining table grounds the casual dining area.
A dedicated butler's pantry niche off the main kitchen provides an integrated wine cooler, glass-front display cabinetry, a herringbone marble backsplash, and a dedicated coffee station — a self-contained entertaining hub that keeps the main kitchen surfaces clear and serene.

This client grew up in this 1950’s family home and has now become owner in his adult life. Designing and remodeling this childhood home that the client was very bonded and familiar with was a tall order. This modern twist of original mid-century style combined with an eclectic fusion of modern day materials and concepts fills the room with a powerful presence while maintaining its clean lined austerity and elegance. The kitchen was part of a grander complete home re-design and remodel.
A modern version of a mid-century His and Hers grand master bathroom was created to include all the amenities and nothing left behind! This bathroom has so much noticeable and hidden “POW” that commands its peaceful spa feeling with a lot of attitude. Maintaining ultra-clean lines yet delivering ample design interest at every detail, This bathroom is eclectically a one of a kind luxury statement.
The concept in the laundry room was to create a simple, easy to use and clean space with ample storage and a place removed from the central part of the home to house the necessity of the cats and their litter box needs. There was no need for glamour in the laundry room yet we were able to create a simple highly utilitarian space.
If there is one room in the home that requires frequent visitors to thoroughly enjoy with a huge element of surprise, it’s the powder room! This is a room where you know that eventually, every guest will visit. Knowing this, we created a bold statement with layers of intrigue that would leave ample room for fun conversation with your guests upon their prolonged exit. We kept the lights dim here for that intriguing experience of crafted elegance and created ambiance. The walls of peeling metallic rust are the welcoming gesture to a powder room experience of defiance and elegant mystical complexity.
It's a lucky house guest indeed who gets to stay in this newly remodeled home. This on-suite bathroom allows them their own space and privacy. Both Bedroom and Bathroom offer plenty of storage for an extended stay. Rift White Oak cabinets and sleek Silestone counters make a lovely combination in the bathroom while the bedroom showcases textured white cabinets with a dark walnut wrap.

This kitchen is the soul of the home—an artful blend of beauty, warmth, and workhorse practicality. Designed with intention, it had to solve for a tricky layout, with three doorways and plenty of household traffic, all while creating a central gathering space our clients would love for years to come.
We began by reimagining the flow, carving out generous stations for prep, cooking, and casual gathering. A large center island—complete with seating and hidden ovens—acts as the kitchen’s command post. On the range wall, Fireclay’s Perian Star tile brings a jolt of joy and movement, playing perfectly against the stunning brass hood from CopperHoods.
Layered lighting, rich materials, and tonal contrasts keep the space feeling grounded yet special. Tedd Wood custom cabinetry is rendered in both soft Pumice and Sherwin-Williams Rock Garden—a pairing that balances earthy calm with playful personality. Cambria Inverness Gold quartz countertops pull it all together with subtle shimmer and warmth.
It’s a kitchen designed to feel vibrant and lived in, with details that elevate the everyday—like appliance garages, open shelving for cookbooks, and Brizo fixtures that deliver beauty in every function. Finishing touches like Restoration Hardware lighting and Cedar & Moss sconces help define each moment within this layered, luminous space.
