Noah’s Playground is a new, beautiful, all-inclusive play area in Newton, PA. The ribbon cutting ceremony took place in November, 2015. This small brick church in a residential neighborhood had previously served as not only a functioning church but later as a photographer's studio, before ESDB's renovation into a single family home. Upon commission the space was a blank canvas. Our client wanted to preserve the open feeling of the ceremonial space but needed to insert a kitchen and full bath before the Borough would recognize the structure as a single family home. We aided in a modest renovation that preserved the feel of the space and was conscious of a tight budget and schedule, while creating a functional open-concept layout. Recognizable elements of the church, such as the stained glass windows, apse, and lighting were preserved.

Richly colored wood doors frame a view into the pale living room, creating a pronounced change of tone at the threshold. Their large raised panels and the surrounding white moldings give the opening depth and a sense of ceremony. Dark herringbone flooring runs through the doorway toward the patterned rug, keeping the adjoining spaces visually connected. Beyond, the curved back of a settee leads the eye toward the fireplace, framed artwork, and tall cabinet. Daylight reflects from the polished floor and brightens the room ahead. The contrast between warm wood and soft gray interiors reinforces the apartment’s classical character, making the passage feel like a deliberate transition from one furnished room to the next.

On the right is my newest Design award from the International Window Coverings Expo Envision Design Competition for 2020. During a Virtual Award Ceremony I was awarded First Place in Specialty Window Fashions for a two story great room window wall custom window treatment. The window wall included an arched window over the fireplace, and four other pairs of two story windows consisting of a smaller window over a very tall window. Photos will be added to this project after they are published in an upcoming issue of Window Fashions Vision Magazine.

Looking at the diverse and restrainedly exquisite art collection of KYOTO HOUSE, you don't even notice that the house is enveloped in twilight. And while you are admiring the amazingly crafted DIDO, the owner of the house is laying out your futon in preparation for the evening sado.

Cindy Creps of Meadow Ridge Perennials and Cut Flowers designed a bridal bouquet for an August 2019 ceremony. All of the flowers are from her zone 4 flower farm in western Maine, with the obvious exception of the tropical blooms of Protea. Although our policy is to only use flowers grown on our farm we do make certain exceptions. The groom's family lives in South Africa and this was a wonderful way to welcome them to Maine! Flowers used are sunflowers, 2 varieties of lisianthus, chocolate lace flower, feverfew, monarda lambarda, with baptisia and basil foliages. (c) Meadow Ridge Perennials
