We wanted to give our client the feeling of being in a spa. So we chose colors that would reflect that feeling, warm travertine with hint of aqua. We incorporated a towel warmer and a radiant heating system in the floor that is controlled by a wi-fi programmable thermostat. The shower is finished off with a clear glass frameless euro shower door.

This is a kitchen we completed at the end of last year. It is a gorgeous soft elegant space. We love it, and so does the client. For this project, they went with Kraftmaid cabinets, Eco White Diamond quartz tops, Stainless Steel under-mount sink, Seagull under-cabinet light, and Vinyl floating locking floor. We removed a ceiling light and installed 4 recesses can lights. We also removed a paneled soffit and replaced it will taller cabinets and crown molding that extends to the ceiling.

This kitchen had not been renovated since the salt box colonial house was built in the 1960’s. The new owner felt it was time for a complete refresh with some traditional details and adding in the owner’s contemporary tastes. At initial observation, we determined the house had good bones; including high ceilings and abundant natural light from a double-hung window and three skylights overhead recently installed by our client. Mixing the homeowners desires required the skillful eyes of Cathy and Ed from Renovisions. The original kitchen had dark stained, worn cabinets, in-adequate lighting and a non-functional coat closet off the kitchen space. In order to achieve a true transitional look, Renovisions incorporated classic details with subtle, simple and cleaner line touches. For example, the backsplash mix of honed and polished 2” x 3” stone-look subway tile is outlined in brushed stainless steel strips creating an edgy feel, especially at the niche above the range. Removing the existing wall that shared the coat closet opened up the kitchen to allow adding an island for seating and entertaining guests. We chose natural maple, shaker style flat panel cabinetry with longer stainless steel pulls instead of knobs, keeping in line with the clients desire for a sleeker design. This kitchen had to be gutted to accommodate the new layout featuring an island with pull-out trash and recycling and deeper drawers for utensils. Spatial constraints were top of mind and incorporating a convection microwave above the slide-in range made the most sense. Our client was thrilled with the ability to bake, broil and microwave from GE’s advantium oven – how convenient! A custom pull-out cabinet was built for his extensive array of spices and oils. The sink base cabinet provides plenty of area for the large rectangular stainless steel sink, single-lever multi-sprayer faucet and matching filtered water dispenser faucet. The natural, yet sleek green soapstone countertop with distinct white veining created a dynamic visual and principal focal point for the now open space. While oak wood flooring existed in the entire first floor, as an added element of color and interest we installed multi-color slate-look porcelain tiles in the kitchen area. We also installed a fully programmable floor heating system for those chilly New England days. Overall, out client was thrilled with his Mission Transition.

Oh the weather outside may be frightful, but this ‘Renovisions Kitchen’ is so delightful! Building this kitchen in the new addition delivered a central open-plan with gathering place that our clients and their teenage children longed for. Traffic flows from the kitchen to the new family room nicely with access to the outside patio and pool area. The Cabinetry design incorporated a pantry cabinet with pull-out trays, a lazy susan, open cabinet above the refrigerator for the homeowners cookbooks, a bank of small drawers for odds and ends and mullion doors with glass to showcase glassware. The island in cherry wood with a dark coffee bean stain beautifully contrasted the white cabinetry, giving the room an even more spacious feel and featured a beverage center and deep storage drawers for pots and pans. Undercabinet lights were installed, creating a wonderful ambiance, casting it’s glow onto the beveled white subway tile and richly colored granite countertops below. This ‘Renovisions’ kitchen is the hub for cooking, dining, and hanging out in style…

Large Cedars, enormous Rhododendrons and Camellias, whose blooms weave exotically through evergreen masses, create an ethereal quality in this garden. The client wanted to reveal this jewel like quality while eking out a little more people space. The challenge was in retaining the existing trees and large broadleaf evergreens while significantly re-organizing the grades in a design concept that established a strong relationship between the house and garden. A real lack of light was a challenge for growing. Green became a colour of many faces, amplified by contrasting textures and rays of sun through branches. A thoughtful eye and a smart pruning program is required for the ongoing maintenance of this garden. The reward is literally breathtaking - a magical place where the line between worlds is blurred.

Much of the program and architectural forms were driven by the picturesque views of Edna Valley vineyards, visible from every room in the house. Ample amounts of glazing brighten the interior of the home, while framing the classic Central California landscape. Large pocketing sliding doors disappear when open, to effortlessly blend the main interior living spaces with the outdoor patios. The stone spine wall runs from the exterior through the home, housing two different fireplaces that can be enjoyed indoors and out. Because the clients work from home, the plan was outfitted with two offices that provide bright and calm work spaces separate from the main living area. The interior of the home features a floating glass stair, a glass entry tower and two master decks outfitted with a hot tub and outdoor shower. Through working closely with the landscape architect, this rather contemporary home blends into the site to maximize the beauty of the surrounding rural area.

Our wonderful customer was looking for an elegant outdoor living space in the backyard for her to spend time and create memories with friends and family! We put together a design and proposal, after a few revisions, it was a match! We installed Cambridge Bluestone Blend pavers with a Coal border. We also installed a large Bluestone step for easy access from the house. We installed a variety of plants including Hydrangeas, Boxwoods, and Lilriope. The beds were finished off with river jack stone. We are proud to say that this client is also a member of our maintenance program and we have also removed several trees for this customer.

The comfortable elegance of this French-Country inspired home belies the challenges faced during its conception. The beautiful, wooded site was steeply sloped requiring study of the location, grading, approach, yard and views from and to the rolling Pennsylvania countryside. The client desired an old world look and feel, requiring a sensitive approach to the extensive program. Large, modern spaces could not add bulk to the interior or exterior. Furthermore, it was critical to balance voluminous spaces designed for entertainment with more intimate settings for daily living while maintaining harmonic flow throughout. The result home is wide, approached by a winding drive terminating at a prominent facade embracing the motor court. Stone walls feather grade to the front façade, beginning the masonry theme dressing the structure. A second theme of true Pennsylvania timber-framing is also introduced on the exterior and is subsequently revealed in the formal Great and Dining rooms. Timber-framing adds drama, scales down volume, and adds the warmth of natural hand-wrought materials. The Great Room is literal and figurative center of this master down home, separating casual living areas from the elaborate master suite. The lower level accommodates casual entertaining and an office suite with compelling views. The rear yard, cut from the hillside, is a composition of natural and architectural elements with timber framed porches and terraces accessed from nearly every interior space flowing to a hillside of boulders and waterfalls. The result is a naturally set, livable, truly harmonious, new home radiating old world elegance. This home is powered by a geothermal heating and cooling system and state of the art electronic controls and monitoring systems.

This residential kitchen project was performed in conjunction with Legacy Custom Homes/RSD, Frank Ponterio Interiors, and NuHaus/Exclusive Woodworking. The goal of this project was to fabricate and install marble slabs in a fashion that mimicked the custom millwork in the rest of this estate home on the Northshore of Chicago. John Tithof and Jason Cranmer, along with the fabrication production team, executed this project on behalf of Tithof Tile & Marble. The client wanted the panels to appear as if carved from dimensional stone blocks rather than the classic full height stone backsplash. One of the primary focuses was keeping the client involved through the templating and layout process to ensure they knew what their project would look like before anything was cut or installed. The evolution of this process has changed in recent years. Gone are the days of blue tape and visualizing the completed job. With the recent introduction of the revolutionary Perfect Match and Slabsmith software programs we have the ability to digitally layout every slab project and create a virtual representation of the project for approval prior to cutting.

This older home on the Southside of Birmingham has an open airy look and feel. Removing the wall between then eat in area and working kitchen allows for a much larger kitchen. A desk area was added as the client works from home. Integrated appliances keep the cabinets front and center. The Chef's range is beautiful and sets in a very functional work space with plenty of room left and right for prep. The wide galley allows for the small peninsula and space for three to four seats at the bar.

History: Client was given a property, that was extremely difficult to build on, with a very steep, 25-30' drop. They tried to sell the property for many years, with no luck. They finally decided that they should build something on it, for themselves, to prove it could be done. No access was allowed at the top of the steep incline. Client assumed it would be an expensive foundation built parallel to the hillside, somehow. Program: The program involved a level for one floor living, (LR/DR/KIT/MBR/UTILITY) as an age-in-place for this recently retired couple. Any other levels should have additional bedrooms that could also feel like a separate AirBnB space, or allow for a future caretaker. There was also a desire for a garage with a recreational vehicle and regular car. The main floor should take advantage of the primary views to the southwest, even though the lot faces due west. Also a desire for easy access to an upper level trail and low maintenance materials with easy maintenance access to roof. The preferred style was a fresher, contemporary feel. Solution: A concept design was presented, initially desired by the client, parallel to the hillside, as they had originally envisioned. An alternate idea was also presented, that was perpendicular to the steep hillside. This avoided having difficult foundations on the steep hillside, by spanning... over it. It also allowed the top, main floor to be farther out on the west end of the site to avoid neighboring view blockage & to better see the primary southwest view. Savings in foundation costs allowed the installation of a residential elevator to get from the garage to the top, main living level. Stairs were also available for regular exercise. An exterior deck was angled towards the primary SW view to the San Juan Islands. The roof was originally desired to be a hip style on all sides, but a better solution allowed for a simple slope back to the 10' high east side for easier maintenance & access, since the west side was almost 50' high! The clients undertook this home as a speculative, temporary project, intending for it to add value, to sell. However, the unexpected solution, and experience in living here, has them wanting to stay forever.

In preparation for an annual family gathering, our clients decided to upgrade their yard to include low-maintenance materials. Choosing wood composite decking retained the traditional look of wood while featuring the modern convenience of sustainability. TimberTech was selected for the plank flooring, multiple custom bench seating, and plant bases. In order to keep their guests safe at any time of the day, small round lights on programmable timers were installed to illuminate the wide decking stairs. Wanting to house the grill in an upscale way, a custom built-in stone enclosure topped with granite was created to face out into the entertainment area. This way, the chef of the house can have all the necessary conveniences while still being part of the fun. Now, these homeowners can focus more on entertaining and less on upkeep.
