These South Shore of Boston homeowners desired a larger kitchen as their existing had limited space to host family events and entertain guests – they turned to Renovisions to help transform their small, outdated kitchen with separate walk-in pantry into a beautiful, open and spacious inspirational room. A traditional style was the framework of the home and the flat paneled doors on the white painted cabinetry support this aspect. Going vertical as possible with cabinets is a trend here to stay; keeping with that idea, we recommended the graceful tall pantry cabinet that flanks one side of the kitchen. The focal point of this kitchen is the expansive, soft-grey colored contrasting island with larger, deeper drawers for pots, pans and platters. The client was excited to switch to an induction chef-series range that featured a divided oven that can accommodate two different temperatures. The objectives were: Make better use of the dining room – create a space ideal for informal gatherings Create a display space that is Marvel Spectacular-worthy Create a wow-worthy focal point that is visible as guests walk in the front door Incorporate a sink into the bar Plenty of storage Incorporate the client’s custom “barrel” secret mini bar into the design Design challenges we solved for: Make the two areas feel as one Provide enough support for the bar’s thick wood-top so that it would not need legs that would interfere with the seating area Find a way to incorporate as much bar seating as possible Make the room’s finishes flow with the rest of the house THE RENEWED SPACE Design solutions: Add open cabinets on the back bar wall with lights and display sections – this ties the bar area to the open display cabinets Back bar wall base cabinets provide lots of storage U-shaped island allows for more seating Custom shelving adjustable to accommodate a wide range of collectibles Finishes that tie into the secret barrel bar integrate nicely with the rest of the house Transforming the former dining room area into a bar with lots of display shelving gives the clients a new, functional gathering place that reflects their personal style. It feels more fun and modern, and it feels more like “them.” After all, this is their own special area in their own home and it’s a perfect place for hanging out with friends.

The most transformative part of the project was the addition of the primary suite. Our clients wanted this space to be more than just a bedroom—it needed to become an integral part of their daily routine, where they could truly unwind after a long day and start each morning with intention. Because they worked from home, we connected the suite to their lounge office through a private seating room, allowing them to ease into the workday feeling refreshed and retreat just as easily afterward without ever leaving their sanctuary. Designed as a retreat, the suite features exposed wood beams that add character and warmth, while the walls are painted in White Flour by Sherwin-Williams for a soft, airy backdrop. Overhead, a Williams Sonoma Ingrid chandelier serves as a warm focal point, bringing elegance with a modern edge. A walk-in closet with glass-and-iron doors provides a boutique-like entrance, while the bedroom flows seamlessly into the spa bathroom. The bathroom walls are painted in that same Swiss Coffee by Sherwin-Williams, creating a light and calming foundation for the warm wood tones of the floating double vanity. At the heart of the room, the freestanding Kohler tub rests on a bed of smooth river stones, creating a grounding focal point that welcomes our clients to truly unwind. The zero-entry shower, finished with Kenridge Ribbon Maple Matte porcelain tile, adds an organic warmth, while Kohler matte black fixtures provide a modern contrast. This balance of natural warmth and modern refinement turned the suite into more than just a functional addition—it became the personal retreat our clients had envisioned, perfectly supporting their lifestyle of working, resting, and recharging at home.

This farmhouse was purchased by the clients in the end of 2015. The timeframe for the renovation was tight, as the home is a hot summer rental in the historic district of Kennebunkport. This antique colonial home had been expanded over the years. The intention behind the renovation was quite simple; to remove wall paper, apply fresh paint, change out some light fixtures and renovate the kitchen. A somewhat small project turned into a massive renovation, with the renovation of 3 bathrooms and a powder room, a kitchen, adding a staircase, plumbing, floors, changing windows, not to mention furnishing the entire house afterwords. The finished product really speaks for itself! The aesthetic is "coastal farmhouse". We did not want to make it too coastal (as it is not on the water, but rather in a coastal town) or too farmhouse-y (while still trying to maintain some of the character of the house.) Old floors on both the first and second levels were made plumb (reused as vertical supports), and the old wood beams were repurposed as well - both in the floors and in the architectural details. For example - in the fireplace in the kitchen and around the door openings into the dining room you can see the repurposed wood! The newel post and balusters on the mudroom stairs were also from the repurposed lot of wood, but completely refinished for a new use. The clients were young and savvy, with a very hands on approach to the design and construction process. A very skilled bargain hunter, the client spent much of her free time when she was not working, going to estate sales and outlets to outfit the house. Their builder, as stated earlier, was very savvy in reusing wood where he could as well as salvaging things such as the original doors and door hardware while at the same time bringing the house up to date.

Photo by Jody Dole This new mixed-use building located in a quaint village has made a name for itself. It features a third floor apartment, second floor office space, and first floor retail. The design of the building's exterior bridges the gap between new and old. The cedar shingle gable roof form and double hung window style blend with the traditional New England context of neighboring buildings. The vertical grooved siding and a sliding 'barn' door hint at an agrarian vernacular. The sliding door features sixteen sparking panels of 'glass quilts' designed by glass artist, Alan Davidson of Guilford, CT. Angular roof forms, support brackets, and trim along with the black paint color provide a modern edge. The building and the new first floor art gallery have generated much interest and excitement for the town. John R. This project required us to remove the old existing deck and start over from scratch. There were several different design challenges that made the job very interesting and a lot of fun! The project features Gossen Passport Series London Gray PVC used for the decking and fascias. The railing is tempered glass panels by Stevens Glass. The railposts are wolmanized subframe with Acme brand vinyl white post sleeves. The postcaps are custom made on the jobsite with white pvc material. The project has the main support beams and posts wrapped in Azek white PVC and a Drysnap watershed ceiling system was installed underneath the deck to allow the clients to entertain and use the space even if it is raining . The existing timber retaining wall had to be modified to allow room for the client's hot tub. The timber wall modification and paverstone patio re-work were handled by Barkman Landscaping, as well as some of the changes to the existing landscape that the clients have done through the years. Laundry Room Cabinets bright white and beautiful. This large laundry room will be refreshing to walk into for years to come. With a large window adding additional bright light into the room. In addition, hexagon tile lines the floor adding dimension to the room. Perimeter is lined with white painted maple cabinets and Fantasy River marble countertops. A fun retro sink and hardware adds functionality to the laundry room. There is no lack of storage in this laundry room. Pennington, NJ. Our clients were looking to create an open floor plan between their kitchen and family room. They also wanted to open up walls to create better flow between the front of the home and dining room. This project included removing walls and installing a structural support beam to give our clients the layout they desired. New custom cabinets, new appliances, quartz countertops, and continuing wood flooring throughout the kitchen completed this project. Our clients now have a functional, beautiful kitchen, and the perfect space for entertaining.
