This modern custom home is a beautiful blend of thoughtful design and comfortable living. No detail was left untouched during the design and build process. Taking inspiration from the Pacific Northwest, this home in the Washington D.C suburbs features a black exterior with warm natural woods. The home combines natural elements with modern architecture and features clean lines, open floor plans with a focus on functional living.

The Islamorada collection has an elegant two-tone combination. The grey finish is the result of a multi-step process that lightly distresses the wood creating a beautiful depth of color and texture, complemented by gently-glazed white on the frame to give your room a character like no other!

We love this kitchen too! This is custom cabinetry with inset construction done to perfection. Maple cabinets painted white while the island is cherry with a dark rich stain.
Scale and function are impossible to ignore. The glass door cabinets with the X mullion and the plate rack make this a simple elegance that everyone would love.
Designed by Anne Dempsey for DDK Kitchen Design Group. Cabinets by Dutch Made and Cabico Unique.

Custom wine room combines an amazing blend of metal display racks and custom, gray stained wooden racks to match the basement cabinetry. Visibility of labels and a minimum desired capacity made for a tough design process that in the end turned out as intended. Just as the customer envisioned.

Four years ago, we began the design process of the main house to align with the owner's retirement and move back to the Seattle area from Chicago in 2015.
Although the Boathouse and Carriage house are more Pacific Northwest shingle in character, this time around the owners wanted a modern interpretation for the main house. Now in 2016 - 10 years later - they are settled in and their little "compound" has become the family gathering place for their three grown sons, their wives, and the owner's grandchildren.
The main house is a contemporary interpretation of Northwest Regionalism in which dramatic waterfront conditions are complemented with aesthetic consideration of massing, materials and the embracing of natural light.
The interior spaces are highlighted in marble, steel, walnut, Sapele and limestone finishes.

The challenge: design a modern pub in London in Italian style. The architecture is inspired by the brewing process and the use of the best materials.
The interior combines elegance, refinement and simplicity of lines with influences of Italian art and visual symmetries that attract the attention of passers-by outside.
The most noticable role is for the tiles from MOSAIC DEL SUR, reference 10194, with its classic and "urban" style.

Having successfully designed the then bachelor’s penthouse residence at the Waldorf Astoria, Kadlec Architecture + Design was retained to combine 2 units into a full floor residence in the historic Palmolive building in Chicago. The couple was recently married and have five older kids between them all in their 20s. She has 2 girls and he has 3 boys (Think Brady bunch). Nate Berkus and Associates was the interior design firm, who is based in Chicago as well, so it was a fun collaborative process.
Details:
-Brass inlay in natural oak herringbone floors running the length of the hallway, which joins in the rotunda.
-Bronze metal and glass doors bring natural light into the interior of the residence and main hallway as well as highlight dramatic city and lake views.
-Billiards room is paneled in walnut with navy suede walls. The bar countertop is zinc.
-Kitchen is black lacquered with grass cloth walls and has two inset vintage brass vitrines.
-High gloss lacquered office
-Lots of vintage/antique lighting from Paris flea market (dining room fixture, over-scaled sconces in entry)
-World class art collection
