With overwhelming support by the community who dug deep and donated, the 2018 Central Valley St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway successfully raised $957,100 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! Since 2007, De Young Properties has been a major donor and builder of 12 St. Jude Dream Homes, helping to raise $11,628,545 to help the kids of St. Jude fight cancer and other life-threatening childhood diseases. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which works around the clock to develop cures to save the lives of boys and girls, including children in the San Joaquin Valley.
“We strongly believe in our responsibility to help others, which is why the St. Jude’s Dream Home Giveaway is so important to us and our entire De Young team. We are grateful to our community’s continued support of our business – a community that has given so much to us, which is why we are so passionate about giving back. In fact, we are even more passionate today than we were in 2007 when we first partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We are honored to be a donor and builder of our 12th St. Jude Dream Home in this war against childhood cancer. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital positively affects the lives of families across the country, in addition to giving us the opportunity to change the life of a local family,” said Paula De Young of De Young Properties. “This amazing pediatric research center, that not only treats life threatening cases in children, also freely gives guidance to doctors around the world and here in the Central Valley. We count ourselves fortunate to be able to help such an important cause”
The 2018 St. Jude Dream Home is one of the most popular De Young floorplans, the Residence 210 with a beautiful Cottage elevation, and will offer three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a formal dining room, spacious den and an open-air courtyard with a gorgeous stone accented fireplace.
With celebrity designer, Michael Moloney, donating his design talent and resources once again as Design Ambassador for this year’s St. Jude Dream Home, the home boasts a long list of special features, including fashionable quartz and granite counters from Granite Mountain Stone Design, premium designer maple cabinetry and professional closet design from KraftMaid Cabinetry and stainless steel Bosch appliances with a gas range, washer, dryer and built-in refrigerator. In addition, premium-grade wood-look porcelain tile floors by Shaw Floors, spacious 10’ ceilings, professional and water efficient front and back yard landscaping, and Energy Star approved Eagle Brand Cool Roof Tile.
The prime Clovis location of the St. Jude Dream Home is in the De Young Trailside at Loma Vista community which is within walking distance to Reagan Educational Center and located within the greater 3,300-acre Loma Vista master-planned community designed by the City of Clovis. In addition, it is a short drive from Clovis Community Medical Center and a variety of entertainment and dining options including the Sierra Vista Mall, The Square at Campus Pointe, Old Town Clovis and even Wild Water Adventure Park. Easy access to Highway 168 and Herndon Avenue can provide a fast work commute during the week and a family outing to Shaver or Huntington lakes on the weekend and even more.
De Young Properties would like to once again thank everyone in the community who contributed their hard-earned dollars to this worthy cause. They are appreciative of everyone who donated, volunteered or purchased a ticket to win this year’s St. Jude Dream Home, and feel privileged to be able to help such an important cause.

Eat-in kitchen - large modern eat-in kitchen idea in Toronto with flat-panel cabinets, stainless steel appliances and an island

To create a soothing oasis for our busy bicoastal client, like we did for her Bay Area residence, we took cues from her petite NYC apartment’s architectural features and floor to ceiling windows as a foundational starting point for a luxurious interior design upgrade boasting brilliant décor and personality.
And to make the space have a similar feel to her San Francisco home, Décor Aid’s interior designer Victoria C. set about to create the same sense of comfort and consistency that we did for her first project with us.
Centered around her modern art collection, our client wanted a modern, fun, comfortable, and casual interior design upgrade for her apartment that boasted a light and airy feel along with a pulled-together sense of everyday urban glamor.
From room to room, Victoria’s main objective was to create a quick budget-friendly turnaround with furnishings that were neither too precious or required custom construction – everything needed to be ready on the go as you can imagine for a client with such a heavy, frequent commute.
For the living room, a transitional sectional in a rich purple hue was brought in for an easy sense of relaxed drama, was finished with pillows in complimentary jewel tones, and punctuated with a graphic cubist wall hanging featuring tonal shades of matte and muted gold.
In order to break away from the rooms angular lined furnishings, a rounded glass-topped coffee table was sourced to also make the living room appear larger than it is. And a white sculptural Eames chaise was introduced as a conversation starter and juxtaposition to the indulgent color scheme of the other furnishings.
For the den, Victoria placed a playful boldly hued collaged wall hanging above a somewhat traditional gray couch to emphasize a non-fussy approach to the room’s décor. While a modern rustic shelving unit was introduced to do triple duty as an entertainment center, a mini-library, and a spot to highlight decorative objects and collectibles.

Location was a key factor for the developer of these 72 luxury beachfront condominiums in New Rochelle, NY, offering prime real estate with spectacular water views, all within a short commute to New York City. An unusual aspect of this project was the developer’s commitment to offer prospective buyers completely customizable interior buildouts. The architect and developer teamed with Bilotta to devise a program offering 17 stains, 17 paint finishes and a variety of door styles, giving homeowners total control of their kitchen and bathroom details and accessories, a significant and successful selling point.
In this particular unit, sand, surf, and sunshine are transported indoors with light-reflecting white cabinetry atop natural oak flooring, punctuated by a slate blue island that seats five. Practical blue-gray quartz countertops are a complementary echo of the island’s hue. A generous molding treatment emphasizes the tall ceiling height. There’s plenty of room for two pantry cabinets, as well as a wine refrigerator in the island. “Flying Saucer” island pendants and a cubist dining chandelier add contemporary flair.
The stunning highlight of each residence is a 30-foot-long wall of glass facing the water. With 2,400- 2,700 square feet apiece, the proportions of the open plan kitchen, dining and family room live like a gracious freestanding home.

Riverfront homes in Wimberley don’t become available that often. Here is an opportunity to own a home big enough for the entire family, and it’s on highly coveted River Road. Manicured grounds with easy access into the river are just a few of the qualities that make this property a definite must see.
LOCATION
This custom built home is located just west of the square, off River Road in the quaint Hill Country town of Wimberley, Texas. River Road is arguably one of the most sought after locations in this charming little Texas town. Being a popular Texas travel destination, Wimberley is known for its rock-bottom, clear water river and creeks lined with centuries old Cypress and gnarled Live Oak trees. Local artists, musicians and craftsmen perform and sell their goods in the small shops along the banks of Cypress Creek. Centrally located it provides an easy commute to San Marcos (20 minutes), Austin (35 minutes), and San Antonio (45 minutes). Any of these surrounding cities will have a full array of amenities including hospitals, shopping, restaurants and airports, etc.
WATER
The property runs to the approximate middle of the Blanco River and offers just over 100’ of frontage. There is no well on the property as it is served by Wimberley Water Supply, a private community water company.
LAND
The land slopes gently downhill from the home down to the river where access into the Blanco is as simple as just stepping in. The grounds are well kept and easily traveled.
IMPROVEMENTS
The home is a custom built, 2-story rock and frame home with metal roof that is just full of unique features including a loft in the master suite & rock shower, just to name a few. The master is downstairs while the guest bedrooms are upstairs. The lower level is open, free-flowing and bright as a multitude of windows open to the river allowing for an easy view from most any point on the main level. Expansive hardwood floors, custom cabinets, a kitchen that’s open to the dining area and breakfast nook, and plentiful storage speak to the forethought put into building this home. The double carport also has a small office with a large adjoining storage room.

It’s warm in Southern California, and that’s exactly the feeling Andy and Liz sought to maintain inside their new Tuscan-style home as they embarked on a modern interior makeover. After all, the couple had two small children and a dog to consider. Empty and austere simply wasn’t a good fit for the young family whose interests include photography, art and lots of Lego’s.
Andy, an engineer, became intrigued with Cantoni after driving past the Irvine location on his daily commute. It wasn’t long before he and Liz decided to venture into the Los Angeles showroom, and that’s where they met Bernadette. By all accounts, the trio made for great collaboration, and the project that began in February 2012 is still a work in progress today.
“We were impressed by Bernadette,” says Andy. “We liked her and her work, and she won us over.”
The project began with pictures sent and an in-home walk-through where measurements were taken. The couple knew they wanted furnishings for the living, dining and family rooms, as well as the media room and a study. They were open to art and accent pieces, and hoped to incorporate natural elements into the mix. Bernadette set to work.
“It was fun touring our LA showroom and listening to Liz and Andy discuss their likes and dislikes. One thing was for sure,” she adds, “the Laguna Sectional was going in their theater room even if we needed to knock out a wall!”
UpstairsPhase I of the job is complete (as you can see from the stunning images), but instead of parting ways, Andy and Liz decided to have Bernadette help re-imagine the master bedroom and kitchen, next. The ongoing nature of this project illustrates a trend we see with most of our clients: we build trusted, long-term relationships. It’s not about the transaction, but about great design, the design process, and the ability of our talented staff to help clients create the lifestyles they want.
As always, there’s plenty to love about the products seen in our feature stories. To help you shop the look, we’re introducing a Featured Products page via a link to the images in each story. We’ve also redesigned our site to make sourcing and finding that just-right piece a breeze.

This simple deck serves as a bridge and an entry. We added this as part of a house addition for a graphic designer's at home office....this is their "commute" to work.

This beautifully designed home is located on secluded property with multiple private views of a nature preserve, yet only a short commute to downtown Minneapolis. The owners hired Jacobson Construction to update their master bathroom and the result is amazing.
The design called for a bright, warm and comfortable space, so we began with a heated floor for those cold Minnesota nights using 12” X 24” gray porcelain bath tile and neutral grout. The custom built-in walnut vanity has a satin finish with brushed nickel hardware and a green-and-gray toned granite countertop.
The vanity includes two undermounted sinks with brushed nickel Kohler faucets. Each sink has two matching sconce lights and a large mirror. One feature the owners really enjoy is the in-cabinet and in-drawer electrical outlets – perfect for keeping the counter free of things like electric toothbrushes and hair dryers. They also love the custom two-level jewelry-organizing drawer.
The bath’s centerpiece may be the white Kohler freestanding soaking tub with brushed nickel faucet, situated in front of a large window overlooking the nature preserve.
A 4’ x 4’ walk-in glass shower features dark gray 2” X 2” porcelain floor tile with neutral grout, 12” X 24” porcelain tile on the back wall, a granite corner seat to match the countertops, and brushed nickel Kohler showerhead.
The bath's walls are painted light green, with an additional white textured tile in a horizontal wave pattern that begins in the shower and extends to the wall behind the tub.
Recessed can, undercabinet toe-kick and sconce lights—all on dimmers--bring this room to life. The undercabinet lighting is wired with a motion sensor switch to function as a night light.
“Our only regret is that we didn’t take pictures of the bathroom before the remodel. It’s that much of an improvement!” The owners shared: “We're really enjoying the refreshed room. So far we’ve added a bright, colorful runner on the floor, and are in search of the perfect artwork to complement the wavy tile wall behind the tub.”
