A 6,000 square foot 2-story new home complex in Milpitas was designed to facilitate the owners’ large business parties and gatherings, to have rooms for the kids to come back to upstairs, and a ground floor master suite with a huge walk-in closet. Several separate structures make up the dwelling: The main house, 3-car garage with carport for overflow parking, and a separate entertainment and recreation building separated by a courtyard from the main house. The business activities include gatherings in the hundreds of people, so parking was maximized and guests can flow in through a separate gate to party in the courtyard and recreation building. Inside this structure is a wet bar, billiard room, workout gym and home theater. The main house ground floor has formal and informal living rooms, open kitchen and master suite with views and expansive windows in every direction. The house is sited on the crestline of a hill with views of the San Francisco Bay and private golf course below. The indoor-outdoor aspect of the house is further accentuated with outside living and dining areas. High ceilings and expansive glass walls dissolve the sense of enclosure taking advantage of the site’s openness and privacy. The owner’s suite is downstairs in anticipation of aging-in-place, and upstairs there are three bedrooms and four bathrooms plus a sitting area lounge and casual TV loft area. The house sits on one acre at the top of a low hill range overlooking Milpitas. The city was very cognizant of the importance of keeping a low profile at this crestline and required extensive story poles and photo evidence of the proper height and siting so as not to be seen from certain selected vantage points. An extensive renovation and addition to a prominent residence, WDA designed a large 2-story addition and basement that met our clients aspirations for doubling the size of the original home, modernizing its interior and improving functionality. The project started with an open kitchen floor plan with a connected living and dining room. We worked closely with Aspen Leaf to design the cabinets, layout and finishes including a shimmering backsplash of Ann Sacks 1x2-inch tile, and a dramatic, custom-crafted hood.

Four buildings of this project are named after garden jasmine sorts – Luisa, Patricia, Stephanie and Aurelia, and have 48 fully finished apartments with spacious terraces. Ground level parking and access to the underground parking are located in the jasmine-covered territory of the complex, which is surrounded by fence. Children playground and well-arranged green park with recreation area are located near the building. Designbox Studio responsible task in this project was to provide these 48 apartments with the comfort of interior design. Jasmine Garden residential complex offers a wide range of services and amenities for comfortable living. The apartments are designed in a modern style with high-quality materials. Each apartment has everything necessary for comfortable living, including a terrace with a view of the picturesque landscape. The complex is surrounded by a fence and equipped with video surveillance to ensure the safety of residents. Residents also have access to underground parking and guest parking spaces. For leisure and entertainment, the complex features well-maintained greenery, a children’s playground, and a park with comfortable areas for relaxation and picnics. Thanks to its close proximity to the sea, residents can enjoy beautiful beaches and landscapes and spend their free time in nature.

The home is a giant test subject for the possibilities of prefabricated construction. The home demonstrates what's possible when traditional craftsmanship and modern technology combine. Complex angles and curves become a possibility. Exquisite finishes become reality when labor costs are flipped on their head. The home has become what it was meant to be all along; a place to gather with colleagues, Clients, family and friends to break bread and get to know one another.
