This kitchen renovation project in Bloomfield Hills was completed in 2014. A 70’s renovated kitchen with a Spanish feel was transformed into a contemporary design with a mid century vibe. Floor to ceiling flat cut walnut wall panels and white Italian, high gloss lacquer cabinets provide the perfect back drop to showcase the bright colored chairs around the classic marble pedestal table. The oversized, contemporary door wall further aids in simplifying the space and allowing the chairs and backsplash to brighten the space. The splashes of color from the backsplash are picked up in the chairs and distribute concentrated areas of color throughout the space. Introducing additional color by varying each chair color further adds to the interest and lively experience of the space, while the strong vertical wood walls balance all the color and offer the perfect setting.

Delightful antique Art Deco flush mount fixture with exposed bulb, dating from the early 1900s and signed by its maker, H.P Inc. The fixture's canopy has a border of concentric circles with a three pronged design featuring stylized foliates. The flush mount is in excellent condition; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all necessary attachments for modern installation. Our challenge for this home office renovation was to add tons of character without creating anything that might be too distracting during video meetings. In order to achieve this, we decided to use the room’s tall ceilings to their full potential. A contemporary open weave light fixture along with a graphic line drawing motif wallpaper become the focal point, both framed by a walnut floating shelf for plants. The wallpaper’s midcentury modern-inspired color story is complemented by other elements in the room, including the custom color-blocked drapery. By concentrating the visual interest in the upper and lower portions of the room, we were able to deliver a unique design that packed a punch “off camera” while still creating a light and airy atmosphere that’s perfect for those frequent work from home meetings.

This view brings the main elements of the bathroom together: a freestanding tub, generous double vanity and open shelving for everyday storage. Pattern and colour were concentrated above the wall detailing, allowing the room to have personality while keeping the lower portion calm and practical.

The powder room creates an intimate enclosure through dark walls, glossy trim, and pale bird-and-branch decoration. The fine botanical pattern rises beside a tall mirror, whose reflection repeats the ornament and gives the narrow room additional depth. A pale veined basin top stands out against this dark background, supported by an open frame of reflective metal. A slim glass shelf adds a practical ledge beneath the mirror without interrupting the view. Shaded wall lights cast concentrated pools of light across the patterned surfaces and polished fittings. The decorative motifs suggest a chinoiserie influence, balanced by the simple console form. Entering the room would feel like stepping into a quieter, more enclosed space shaped by pattern, reflection, and warm light.

The original open-plan layout of the master bedroom has been reconfigured and divided. The ultimate goal of the enclosed space is to provide comfort and ease of sleep. The pale green color is also carefully coordinated, focusing on creating a serene and pleasant atmosphere. The combination of "green," "wood," and "metal elements" is based on Feng Shui considerations, serving to stabilize and concentrate the energy flow.

One of the oldest pieces in this connoisseur couple’s rug collection, this magnificent medallion carpet with its elaborate framing of 8 concentric borders is the perfect centerpiece for their living room. The ambitious confluence of European paintings and furniture, luxurious fabrics, polished wood inlay, and sculpture was in place before the purchase of this 190-year-old rug added its grandeur and refinement to the room. The result is breathtaking; the carpet’s colors commingle with the prior color palette while its designs sit comfortably with the shapes in the fabrics and accessories. Note how this Court carpet unifies the room where even selected details, such as the fleur-de-lis sofa motifs and gilt-edged frames resonate with it.
