When you love something and you realize after years, you’ve inadvertently put that away, a good designer will help you bring that back out. That was Turnstyle’s responsibility here with this recent client project: bring back the joy of spending time in a home library. This space is precious to me, because I’ve known it for all the many years I’ve been working on this home. It sits proudly in the center of the house, greeting people upon entry, and, in my opinion, was a jewel box ready to receive its shine. We blew through a wall to allow it a more spacious entrance, helping anyone who visits to immediately see the stunning on-the-lake view. I applied custom wall to wall antique glass to each wall, floor to ceiling, to enhance the view, make the walls feel like they fall away, and also reflect all the now beautiful art and furniture pieces as part of its new design. Influences from things gathered, stunning reworked furniture from the 1970s and all around functional hero items, allow for better working. The main push residing in really enabling quality time there. This space is open is now refreshing and full of beautiful objects and memorabilia. An inspiring place to contemplate, one is surrounded, and influenced, by a strong, fully fleshed out space through my extensive love of pattern, color and unusual combinations.

The original intent of this project was to replace the island, hood, countertops, and a few appliances. A primary bath remodel was the main priority. But once the couple realized certain features would enhance the functionality of the kitchen – not to mention completely change the aesthetic – they put the master bath on hold and decided to remodel the entire kitchen first.
Design objectives:
-Omit separate table, plan for a larger island that would seat 7 people
-Simple, clean lines – no rounded corners or weird angles
-Nothing trendy – use modern classic details
-Uncluttered countertops
-Better pantry storage for food & small appliances
-Integrated major appliances
-Coffee bar
-Avoid “1 color on perimeter with second color on island”
-Integrate a harmonious variety of finishes
-Integrate black & handmade metals
Design challenges:
-Island shape to fit within confines of existing half wall between kitchen & family room & bay window/door to backyard
-Narrow kitchen with major walkway
-Planning for 7 seats at the island
-Keep guest social area away from the cook’s zone
-Place appliances according to use
-Point-of-use storage for an avid cook within a relatively small space
-Integrate colors without looking too busy
THE NEW KITCHEN
-While the island is mostly rectangular, the seating area utilizes the bay extension without interfering with the exterior door
-All seating is placed on the outside perimeter of the island, giving the cook dedicated prep space
-The L-shaped seating area & adjacent coffee bar encourage guests to gather on the outside edge of the kitchen where they can still interact with the cook
-Island prep space includes 5 feet of versatile drawer storage, double waste basket and an open paper towel dispenser
-One pantry designated for food; the other for small appliances & bulk storage; creates visual armoire look
-Microwave drawer in island faces refrigerator for easy access & less interference with cook’s zone
-Appliance garages avoid clutter on the countertops
-Off-white upper cabinets make the kitchen look larger while the black bases offer contrast without closing in the space
Once the client committed to remodeling her entire kitchen, she had a good idea of the direction she wanted the space to take. Even so, there were many details that remained open to explore & contemplate. The end result is modern, clean and ultimately transitional – a creative vision anchored in functionality and artistry!
A powder room remodel was added to the project that beautifully compliments the kitchen aesthetic. The entire staircase, all trim & doors were painted in the same tones as the kitchen, transforming the entire first floor into a cohesive & welcoming space. It was a great collaborative partnership!

Tucked away in a small subdivision, these homeowners have taken their builder-grade backyard and transformed it into a Japanese-inspired oasis. After the initial landscape design and construction by Pacific Garden Design, the homeowners have continued to craft an elegantly evolving landscape. A multi-level deck provides entertaining space as it steps down to the yard. A dry water feature anchors the corner of the yard, while a series of stone benches provide spots for quiet contemplation. The thriving garden area takes advantage of the southern exposure along one side of the yard and offers an opportunity for garden whimsy. Gravel pathways connect the space to the front yard and the natural area behind the property.

Contemplating the remarkable voyage of crafting these church kneelers for Christ Church in Cambridge—a blend of pure joy and sheer privilege.
While restoring these kneelers, we stumbled upon nails dating back to the 1800s! We even found the very kneelers that George Washington once knelt upon. Pretty cool, right?
Lousso is truly honored to have collaborated with Christ Church on this project, and we want to express our deep gratitude.

In Dubai's luxury residential landscape, the bedroom has evolved from a simple sleep space into a sophisticated personal retreat. Antonovich Group, a distinguished interior design Dubai firm, has perfected the art of modern bedroom transformation through their specialized fit-out and furniture solutions that balance aesthetic refinement with sleep science principles.
Their recent bedroom project in Dubai Hills Estate exemplifies their contemporary approach—minimalist architectural detailing provides a serene backdrop for statement furniture pieces and thoughtfully curated materials. As a premier interior renovation company Dubai homeowners select for comprehensive transformations, Antonovich Group begins each bedroom project with a detailed lifestyle assessment to understand sleep patterns, morning routines, and personal preferences.
"The modern bedroom serves multiple functions beyond sleep," explains their design director. "It often incorporates dressing areas, work spaces, and relaxation zones while maintaining an atmosphere conducive to rest. This complexity requires thoughtful spatial planning and integrated solutions."
What distinguishes Antonovich Group's bedroom designs is their custom furniture program, which creates bespoke pieces tailored precisely to each space and client. Rather than selecting from standard collections, clients receive one-of-a-kind beds, nightstands, wardrobes, and seating that perfectly balance form and function. Each piece undergoes rigorous review for both visual appeal and ergonomic performance.
Material selection for these sleep environments showcases the firm's expertise in creating sensory harmony. Acoustic wall treatments minimize noise disruption, temperature-regulating fabrics enhance sleep quality, and carefully selected woods bring natural warmth to the space. Lighting receives particular attention, with programmable systems that support circadian rhythms.
"As an interior renovation company Dubai residents trust with their most personal spaces, we recognize that bedroom design affects wellbeing directly," notes the wellness specialist. "Our integrated approach addresses not just aesthetics but also the environmental factors that influence sleep quality."
For homeowners contemplating bedroom transformations, Antonovich Group offers consultation services that explore the possibilities of modern sleep sanctuaries—spaces that represent the perfect synthesis of contemporary design principles and deeply personal comfort requirements.

A cozy outdoor seating area in the front yard of the modern Arabic villa architectural design in Ta’if, Saudi Arabia, surrounded with lush greenery and located next to a soothing water pond, providing the residents with a contemplative and serene space.

Project Overview:
Our team embarked on a thoughtful renovation journey, transforming an aging deck into a harmonious blend of indoor-outdoor living. The goal was to create a space that honors tradition while embracing modern comfort.
Existing Deck Transformation:
Original Deck:
The existing deck, weathered by years of memories, retained its original purpose—a place where sunlight dances and conversations flow.
Uncovered and open to the elements, it stood as a testament to countless gatherings and sun-kissed afternoons.
Screen Porch Conversion:
Half of the deck underwent a magical metamorphosis, emerging as a screen porch—a sanctuary where the outdoors and indoors intertwine.
The screen porch now cradles moments of quiet contemplation, protected from bugs and gentle rain.
Design Considerations:
Seamless Transition:
The transition between the deck and the screen porch is seamless, honoring the house’s original footprint.
The shared boundary invites a gentle flow—a dance of light and shadow.
Cantilevered Roof:
To preserve the deck’s sunlit expanse, we cantilevered the roof over the screen porch.
This architectural choice ensures that both spaces coexist harmoniously, each with its unique purpose.
Functional Harmony:
The deck, now partially covered, continues to serve as an alfresco haven for sunbathing, stargazing, and laughter.
The screen porch beckons with its screened walls, inviting cozy evenings and whispered secrets.
Legacy and Connection:
This renovation isn’t just about wood and nails; it’s about honoring the past and embracing the future. The parents, their children, and grandchildren—all find solace here, under the same sky, within these transformed walls.

Moss Garden: A Living Carpet of Tranquility
A moss garden is a serene, low-maintenance landscape feature that evokes a profound sense of calm and natural beauty. Composed of vibrant, velvety mosses that thrive in shaded, humid environments, these gardens offer a soft, carpet-like groundcover that replaces traditional lawns or gravel with rich, green texture.
At Westland Design, our moss gardens are thoughtfully integrated into the overall landscape to enhance a feeling of timelessness and stillness. Whether nestled beneath the canopy of trees, edging a stone pathway, or surrounding a tranquil water feature, moss brings subtle movement and color to quiet corners of the garden.
Key qualities of a moss garden include:
Evergreen softness: Moss provides lush, year-round greenery that requires no mowing or fertilizing.
Quiet beauty: It absorbs sound, contributing to a peaceful, contemplative environment.
Natural elegance: Ideal for Japanese-style gardens or woodland settings, moss complements stone, water, and wood elements with organic harmony.
A moss garden is more than a design choice—it’s an invitation to slow down, observe closely, and appreciate nature’s quiet elegance.

The Empire armchairs, with their elegant and comfortable design, embrace these moments of contemplation. The design aims for you to immerse yourself in a good book, a meaningful conversation, or simply surrender to silence.

This unique 2.75 acre property, located on the Roosevelt Channel on Captiva Island, was transformed from a barren construction site into a tropical garden that would rival some botanical gardens. The homeowners are garden enthusiasts and collaborated closely with Bob Walsh and the landscape team to create a variety of lush landscape gardens including; a Tropical Flowering Tree Garden, Moonlight & Scent Garden, Citrus & Edible Garden, Specimen Palm Gardens, Tropical Shade Gardens, Butterfly Gardens, and Waterfall Gardens with lagoon pools for Koi fish. Outdoor living was of primary consideration as well. The Seminole Indian Chickee Hut overlooks a private Island Beach with hammocks to offer a retreat for entertaining and relaxation while a 42 foot circular Stone Labyrinth is a place for meditation and contemplation. Moon and accent landscape lighting allow the numerous pathways and gardens to be enjoyed well beyond sunset.

Rustic and refined meet to give a mountaintop home in Portola Valley, California, classic charm.
They say the best things in life come to those who wait. So when a Bay Area couple purchased a rare set of adjoining lots overlooking Windy Hill in Portola Valley, they made frequent visits to the site where they absorbed the views while listening to the land as they contemplated building a home there. The intent: to create a home that would celebrate the scenic beauty of the San Mateo County region.
Long before the design process began, the couple committed themselves to preserving as many trees on the land as possible. These trees, two majestic, centuries-old Blue Oaks in particular, ultimately became the impetus for the home’s orientation and the inspiration for its design. Detailed discussions and brainstorming sessions led the owners to discover their own unique tastes: “cozy” and “rustic“ while “contemporary, but not minimal.” The result? Sophisticated style comprised of simple, honest materials.
