A blend of leather and leopard print on the accent chair adds a classic yet playful aspect to the design. The room is anchored by a custom rug in shades of reds and black that is often found in Tuscan design and the wood paneling in the space contributes to the Italian Old World feel of the design.

With adjacent neighbors within a fairly dense section of Paradise Valley, Arizona, C.P. Drewett sought to provide a tranquil retreat for a new-to-the-Valley surgeon and his family who were seeking the modernism they loved though had never lived in. With a goal of consuming all possible site lines and views while maintaining autonomy, a portion of the house — including the entry, office, and master bedroom wing — is subterranean. This subterranean nature of the home provides interior grandeur for guests but offers a welcoming and humble approach, fully satisfying the clients requests. While the lot has an east-west orientation, the home was designed to capture mainly north and south light which is more desirable and soothing. The architecture’s interior loftiness is created with overlapping, undulating planes of plaster, glass, and steel. The woven nature of horizontal planes throughout the living spaces provides an uplifting sense, inviting a symphony of light to enter the space. The more voluminous public spaces are comprised of stone-clad massing elements which convert into a desert pavilion embracing the outdoor spaces. Every room opens to exterior spaces providing a dramatic embrace of home to natural environment. Grand Award winner for Best Interior Design of a Custom Home The material palette began with a rich, tonal, large-format Quartzite stone cladding. The stone’s tones gaveforth the rest of the material palette including a champagne-colored metal fascia, a tonal stucco system, and ceilings clad with hemlock, a tight-grained but softer wood that was tonally perfect with the rest of the materials. The interior case goods and wood-wrapped openings further contribute to the tonal harmony of architecture and materials. Grand Award Winner for Best Indoor Outdoor Lifestyle for a Home This award-winning project was recognized at the 2020 Gold Nugget Awards with two Grand Awards, one for Best Indoor/Outdoor Lifestyle for a Home, and another for Best Interior Design of a One of a Kind or Custom Home. At the 2020 Design Excellence Awards and Gala presented by ASID AZ North, Ownby Design received five awards for Tonal Harmony. The project was recognized for 1st place – Bathroom; 3rd place – Furniture; 1st place – Kitchen; 1st place – Outdoor Living; and 2nd place – Residence over 6,000 square ft. Congratulations to Claire Ownby, Kalysha Manzo, and the entire Ownby Design team. Tonal Harmony was also featured on the cover of the July/August 2020 issue of Luxe Interiors + Design and received a 14-page editorial feature entitled “A Place in the Sun” within the magazine.

Hidden between the rainforest, the rice paddies and the river, RedDoor is a Luxury Villa designed for an unforgetable hideaway. The interior is furnished with contemporary Danish inspired, custom wooden pieces, contributing to an aesthetics driven take on island living. The villa itself is a prime example of eco chic, balancing between modern and authentic, without losing out on style . An authentic space with un-interrupted views of the tranquil surroundings while it remains private and intimate.

Stamped concrete had not been seal for many years and lost all the sealer and color faded. The freeze and thaw weather also contributed to the concrete to spall creating light brown pot marks on the concrete. We restore the color with Bark Brown color stain, and seal it with SealGreen E10 Epoxy sealer to prevent the damage from future extreme weather. Unfortunately it is not possible to fill in the pot marks but with the color they became less visible and part of the character of the concrete. As a matter of fact our customer was complemented by one of his guests because it look like new.

Namibian Delight is a beautiful quartz known for its organic appeal and superior durability. Subtle strokes of grey and tone-on-tone white veins on the pristine white background make this quartz more visually captivating, making it a great feature for designing statement countertops, vanities, shower walls, and more. Moreover, its durability contributes to the overall durability of a space.

The Wethersfield home is a “Contributing Structure” within one of Central Austin’s most historic neighborhoods. Thanks to the design vision and engineering of the Barley|Pfeiffer Architecture team, the fine execution and contributions of Tommy Hudson with Hudson Custom Builder, and the commitment of the Owner, the outcome is a very comfortable, healthy and nicely day lit, 1600 square foot home that is expected to have energy consumption bills 50% less than those before, despite being almost 190 square feet larger. A new kitchen was designed for better function and efficiencies. A screened-in porch makes for great outdoor living within a semi-private setting - and without the bugs! At first glance, it appears to be made of soapstone and stands out boldly against the white Omega Full Access cabinets beneath. It’s actually made of quartz, however, but the soapstone appearance helps to contribute to the farmhouse feel of the room.
