This couple purchased a second home as a respite from city living. Living primarily in downtown Chicago the couple desired a place to connect with nature. The home is located on 80 acres and is situated far back on a wooded lot with a pond, pool and a detached rec room. The home includes four bedrooms and one bunkroom along with five full baths. The home was stripped down to the studs, a total gut. Linc modified the exterior and created a modern look by removing the balconies on the exterior, removing the roof overhang, adding vertical siding and painting the structure black. The garage was converted into a detached rec room and a new pool was added complete with outdoor shower, concrete pavers, ipe wood wall and a limestone surround. The outdoor area featured a new deck of ipe wood with metal railings. The lounge chairs are from Frontgate, the able on deck is Design Within Reach, Dining Chairs and Pool Chairs are from Blu Dot. The new pool features a stone surround of Unilock XL pavers in an Opal color.

These homeowners really wanted a full garage space where they could house their cars. Their one car garage was overflowing as a storage space and they felt this space could be better used by their growing children as a game room. We converted the garage space into a game room that opens both to the patio and to the driveway. We built a brand new garage with plenty of room for their 2 cars and storage for all their sporting gear! The homeowners chose to install a large timber bar on the wall outside that is perfect for entertaining! Located part of the Cumberland Plateau of Alabama, the 36’x 36’ structure has a fully finished garage on the lower floor for equine, garage or storage and a spacious apartment above ideal for living space. For this model, the owner opted to enclose 24 feet of the single shed roof for vehicle parking, leaving the rest for workspace. The optional garage package includes roll-up insulated doors, as seen on the side of the apartment. The fully finished apartment has 1,000+ sq. ft. living space –enough for a master suite, guest bedroom and bathroom, plus an open floor plan for the kitchen, dining and living room. Complementing the handmade breezeway doors, the owner opted to wrap the posts in cedar and sheetrock the walls for a more traditional home look. The exterior of the apartment matches the allure of the interior. Jumbo western red cedar cupola, 2”x6” Douglas fir tongue and groove siding all around and shed roof dormers finish off the old-fashioned look the owners were aspiring for.

This early 20th century Poppleton Park home was originally 2548 sq ft. with a small kitchen, nook, powder room and dining room on the first floor. The second floor included a single full bath and 3 bedrooms. The client expressed a need for about 1500 additional square feet added to the basement, first floor and second floor. In order to create a fluid addition that seamlessly attached to this home, we tore down the original one car garage, nook and powder room. The addition was added off the northern portion of the home, which allowed for a side entry garage. Plus, a small addition on the Eastern portion of the home enlarged the kitchen, nook and added an exterior covered porch. Special features of the interior first floor include a beautiful new custom kitchen with island seating, stone countertops, commercial appliances, large nook/gathering with French doors to the covered porch, mud and powder room off of the new four car garage. Most of the 2nd floor was allocated to the master suite. This beautiful new area has views of the park and includes a luxurious master bath with free standing tub and walk-in shower, along with a 2nd floor custom laundry room! Attention to detail on the exterior was essential to keeping the charm and character of the home. The brick façade from the front view was mimicked along the garage elevation. A new workshop and build space for a fellow creative! Seeking a space to enable this set designer to work from home, this homeowner contacted us with an idea for a new workshop. On the must list were tall ceilings, lit naturally from the north, and space for all of those pet projects which never found a home. Looking to make a statement, the building’s exterior projects a modern farmhouse and rustic vibe in a charcoal black. On the interior, walls are finished with sturdy yet beautiful plywood sheets. Now there’s plenty of room for this fun and energetic guy to get to work (or play, depending on how you look at it)!
