Keep costs minimal. On the ground floor, both pre-existing eight- and twelve-foot tall halves of the former scheme remain in-place, as do the structural bones of two faceted ‘beaks’. The complex former roof was removed for its limited use of available floor area. A single long shed now unifies the high East side of the house and its small private individual spaces with the wide-open shared space of the lower West Side. Aligned with the stair-tower extruded from a former beak, a childrens’ loft-library and two-sided fireplace conduct the East-West interface.

This homeowner asked Paul Davis to convert this cute little shed to a more usable space. Challenges included getting water, electricity and heating/cooling to the back corner of the property.

The lower level of the house is currently used as the homeowner's office space and will eventually be converted into a full-fledged guest suite. Complete with a dedicated and private outdoor space, this is a great spot to take a break from the work day or get some reading done while enjoying the sunshine and views.

A side patio is ringed by young lavender plants and a half-circle of olives frames the space. Dark Monterey cypress, trimmed as a tall hedge, creates the luscious dark backdrop. A converted chicken shed provides storage nearby.

This converted barn/shed now houses queen size bunk beds, pingpong table, disco ball, and full bar. The bar features stool seating and bespoke redwood countertops. Attached bathroom even has a composting toilet!

Home design - traditional home design idea in New York

Located in Monterey Park, CA, the project included complete renovation and addition of a 2nd floor loft and deck. The previous house was a traditional style and was converted into an Art Moderne house with shed roofs. The 2,312 square foot house features 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and upstairs loft. The 400 square foot garage was increased and repositioned for the renovation.

This space easily converts from indoor to outdoor with just the slide of a door! This versatile space could be used for entertainment as well as quiet nights enjoying the outdoors. Large windows with a custom large transom let natural light flood the space.

The owners painted the walls a nice bright white, and to highlight the warmth of the wood tones, we opted for a sienna color palette with light blues, peaches, and warm golds that we pulled into the furniture and accessories. This created a cozy yet more sophisticated look that resulted in many offers.

My parent's neighbor wanted help converting an 11'x16' shed to a sauna. He took it down to the studs and I designed an 8'x 8' sauna plus a warm room and extra storage space. Hot room has cedar 2x4 benches, cedar fence plank ship lapped interior panels, harvia kip 80 w Xenio CX170 wifi controls, tile floor. Warm room was wired for nice place to relax - fridge and TV. Both rooms have great views of the water. Olympia, WA. Bryan is happy with his new man cave.
