Inspiration for a mid-sized timeless mudroom remodel in San Francisco

The barn structure was converted into a guest house. The original sliding barn doors were kept and new pocketing glass doors were installed behind to allow for the kitchen and dining room to open to the front court.

And though the one-bedroom apartment is small in size, our client needed a second convertible bedroom in her apartment for her parents when they visit from Japan. Frosted glass sliding doors were cleverly added to the end of the living room to divide the space to allow for a second bedroom and a home office, without taking any daylight away from the living room. In the guest area, Ashley introduced a round graphic black and white patterned rug for added personality, while minimal floating iron and glass shelves provide both extra surfaces and added visual interest. A gallery wall featuring rows of carefully installed personal and family photos line the petite hallway that leads to the master suite. Our client requested a crisp black and white bedroom so Ashley used a wide variety of materials to give the room warmth through material instead of color. Ashley also once again brought in a textured white rug to work as a focal point and to make the room appear as large as possible. She kept furnishings timeless and pared back but full of strength thanks to their moody matte gray tones and symmetrical setup. A single armed sturdy clothing rack was also brought in to help our client better prepare for the day ahead every morning.

This A-Frame style shed has vinyl siding, the dormer package, an added porch, as well as multiple other add-ons. The inside can be converted to contain a separate area for pool equipment, changing rooms, a bathroom, a play room, and a pool equipment storage area. Built mostly of salvaged materials and parts, the size and shape of the pool house was dictated by wall sections that Raymond had found in a dumpster on a job site. As Jennifer adds, "a friend of ours was taking his deck apart and gave us all the lumber for free, and that became our roofing material. My neighbor across the street from us just happened to come over and tell me how he needed to get a new shed door. I asked him if I could take a look at it, and here it was an old dutch door. I asked if I could have it and bless his heart, he gave it to me." The pool house's roof and shingle-style siding mirror that of the main house, thanks to left over material from when the home was built years ago. "Since we own Sharkey and Son Construction we had the ability to do it all ourselves," Jennifer says. "So we poured the concrete floor and put the walls up.
