This luxury bespoke wine cabinet was custom-made by Acorn for a residence in Sutton, Surrey. Our clients, who collect and enjoy fine wine, commissioned us to create a dedicated wine storage unit that combined exceptional functionality in an impressive statement piece.
The resulting cabinet provides tailored storage and display in a stunning finish that coordinates with the interior décor style of the house. It is built-in to the bespoke floor to ceiling wall panelling we installed in the hallway. The wall panels cleverly conceal cupboard storage for clothing, footwear and other accessories. Creating hidden doors using wooden wall panels adds storage to the entrance hall while maintaining a beautifully, cohesive, streamlined look.
Bespoke wine cabinet
The distinctive tailormade wine cabinet features made to measure wine racks, horizontal bottle holders and shelving. The large doors are made of toughened glass sitting within a solid oak frame. While ensuring the wine bottles are stored in the correct position, the cabinet has turned an underutilised space into an eye-catching display feature in the entrance hall and when viewed from the dining table area. Integrated LED lighting adds ambience and highlights the collection. You can view more of our tailored lighting designs here.
Oak room divider doors
We also handcrafted a pair of coordinated minimalist oak partition doors that lead into the dining room area. Internal room divider doors are a superb way to create distinct spaces and separate rooms. The doors give our clients control over how they use their living space and can be opened to allow freedom of movement and create a sense of space or closed to provide privacy and a cosy atmosphere. The doors are designed to blend seamlessly into the cabinetry when opened giving the impression of there being no doors at all.
Oak cabinetry with a graphite stain finish
The oak cabinetry has been flawlessly finished with a graphite wood stain and satin lacquer, which gives the surface a premium and protective hardwearing finish. The grey stain allows the beauty of the wood’s natural grain to show through while also adding depth and character, creating a contemporary rustic aesthetic. The deep grey colour is an up to date neutral with a refined, high-end appearance; and this dark shade brings sophistication and drama to the entrance hall, while also making a stunning backdrop to the illuminated wine cabinet.

Modern luxury meets warm farmhouse in this Southampton home! Scandinavian inspired furnishings and light fixtures create a clean and tailored look, while the natural materials found in accent walls, casegoods, the staircase, and home decor hone in on a homey feel. An open-concept interior that proves less can be more is how we’d explain this interior. By accentuating the “negative space,” we’ve allowed the carefully chosen furnishings and artwork to steal the show, while the crisp whites and abundance of natural light create a rejuvenated and refreshed interior.
This sprawling 5,000 square foot home includes a salon, ballet room, two media rooms, a conference room, multifunctional study, and, lastly, a guest house (which is a mini version of the main house).

This 4,140 sqft Spanish-style home underwent an extensive, multi-space remodel designed to preserve its original character while elevating it with custom craftsmanship and high-end materials throughout. The kitchen, pantry, powder room, laundry room, primary closet, and primary bathroom were all thoughtfully redesigned with Spanish-inspired detailing and a refined, luxurious approach.
The kitchen is the heart of the remodel and showcases fully custom cabinetry with arched reed columns, bespoke door profiles, and an island wrapped in individually applied oak reeds. Pocket doors conceal a coffee nook, while arched metal-framed glass doors seamlessly integrate into custom arched cabinetry and pantry units. A custom ornamental metal detail doubles as a hanging bar for the banquette’s tailored blue cushions. Cabinet finishes combine soft off-white with lightly stained natural oak.
A dramatic custom arched lime-plaster hood anchors the space, featuring hidden storage and a striking Zia tile backsplash above a custom blue BlueStar range. Taj Mahal quartzite wraps the countertops and backsplash, while walls and ceilings are finished in Patagonia Roman clay for added depth and texture. Dornbracht fixtures in brushed champagne gold, Top Knobs hardware, and a blue marble banquette tabletop complete the space.
The powder room continues the artisanal theme with a floating microcement countertop, Oska vessel sink by Kast, warm bronze wall-mounted faucet by Graff, alabaster sconces, handmade Moroccan zellige tile flooring, original painted glass windows, and Roman clay walls and ceiling.
In the laundry room, custom cabinetry, generous storage, and patterned painted limestone tile flooring maintain the Spanish influence while maximizing function.
The primary closet features a custom dark blue closet system, highlighted by an arched illuminated glass display cabinet set atop a Viola marble countertop. Roman clay walls in a deeper blue tone and a sculptural glass chandelier complete the space.
The primary bathroom is one of the most distinctive spaces in the home. A custom layout includes a freestanding tub, arched walk-in shower, and bespoke double vanity. Dramatic Dover White marble slabs were bookmatched and carried across half-height walls, shower walls, vanity surfaces, and backsplash. The same marble was meticulously fabricated into custom 4”x4” pieces for the shower pan, allowing the veining to flow seamlessly while maintaining slip resistance. The remaining walls are finished in Concretta microcement for a soft plaster effect.
The rift white oak double vanity features curved edges, ribbed side details, and six-panel drawer fronts. Warm bronze fixtures by Graff, arched niches, elliptical mirrors, and custom handmade Voyager sconces by Allied Maker complete this Spanish-inspired sanctuary.
This project is a true celebration of craftsmanship, material integrity, and timeless Spanish design, reimagined for modern luxury living.

Interior design by others
Our architecture team was proud to design this traditional, cottage inspired home that is tucked within a developed residential location in St. Louis County. The main levels account for 6097 Sq Ft and an additional 1300 Sq Ft was reserved for the lower level. The homeowner requested a unique design that would provide backyard privacy from the street and an open floor plan in public spaces, but privacy in the master suite.
Challenges of this home design included a narrow corner lot build site, building height restrictions and corner lot setback restrictions. The floorplan design was tailored to this corner lot and oriented to take full advantage of southern sun in the rear courtyard and pool terrace area.
There are many notable spaces and visual design elements of this custom 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom brick cottage home. A mostly brick exterior with cut stone entry surround and entry terrace gardens helps create a cozy feel even before entering the home. Special spaces like a covered outdoor lanai, private southern terrace and second floor study nook create a pleasurable every-day living environment. For indoor entertainment, a lower level rec room, gallery, bar, lounge, and media room were also planned.

These stunning, high end bespoke wall to wall display and storage cabinets were custom-made and installed for a residence in Wimbledon, London. Our clients wanted to create a large informal study room with a cosy, welcoming atmosphere. We tailored the built-in display and storage units to meet their exact specifications and the impressive design has brought incredible style and structure to the study room. The deep colour and wraparound shelving exude comfort and have created an inviting space to read, converse and relax.
Made to measure for display and storage
Our bespoke commissions begin by discussing and exploring ideas with our clients so we can fully understand and realise their vision. For this fitted furniture, our clients wanted to maximise the storage and shelving space for their library and artworks, while also minimising the floor footprint.
To achieve this we created a run of cabinets with plenty of open shelving above for books. This shelving then wraps around the room, as wall mounted, high level open shelving. These sizes were tailored specifically to match the designer corner sofa.
The resulting design is highly versatile and makes a striking statement in this sitting room study while also feeling like a seamless part of the room.
Rattan weave doors
The shaker style doors on the lower cabinets feature inset rattan weave panels. They allow our clients to house and hide media equipment and routers without the worry of overheating and needing to open the door to let signal and sound through. These gives a vintage, bohemian look to the furniture and add extra interest and natural texture to the room. Each unit divider is finished with a reeded cap accent matching the shaker doors and moulded timber cornice.
The impact of colour and lighting
The units have been finished in Stiffkey Blue by Farrow & Ball, a premium quality, eco-friendly paint which matches the walls. The deep inky blue colour gives the room a cohesive look and creates a dramatic, yet cosy atmosphere. The open shelving features integrated warm white LED lighting which while being functional also brings an attractive glow to the room. Lighting adds dimension and decoration, as well as illumination. From the moment visitors arrived, it was clear this home was something special. Featuring stunning architectural details, thoughtful design elements, and statement pieces around every corner, this home left a lasting impression on everyone who toured it during the HBA Spring Parade of Homes.
Upon entering, guests were welcomed into a breathtaking two-story great room highlighted by a dramatic wall of windows that floods the space with natural light. Opposite the windows, a beautiful masonry fireplace chase extends upward, surrounded by custom built-ins that create a stunning focal point for the room. Looking above, the eye is immediately drawn to the intricate tray ceiling detail, a signature design feature that Buffum Homes loves incorporating to add character, dimension, and visual impact.
Just off the entryway, the home features both a private office and a versatile flex room complete with beautiful built-in cabinetry. The flex room offers endless possibilities and can easily function as an additional bedroom, playroom, music room, hobby space, or whatever best suits a family’s lifestyle.
Flowing seamlessly from the great room is a spacious dining area and an expansive custom kitchen designed for both everyday living and entertaining. The kitchen is complemented by a large walk-in pantry, providing ample storage and functionality while maintaining the home’s clean and elegant aesthetic.
Natural daylight pours throughout the entire main floor, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere in every space. Off the dining area, oversized glass doors lead to a massive covered deck that transitions into an open-air deck space, offering the perfect setting for outdoor living, entertaining guests, or simply enjoying beautiful Michigan evenings.
The mudroom is thoughtfully positioned just off the kitchen and serves as a practical everyday entry point. Complete with a convenient half bath and abundant built-in locker storage for coats, shoes, backpacks, and everyday essentials, the space combines functionality with custom design.
Spanning roughly 1,700 square feet, the main floor was carefully designed to maximize both livability and visual impact. Every room was intentionally crafted to blend beauty, comfort, and practicality, creating a welcoming environment that feels both luxurious and functional.
Ascending to the second floor, homeowners are greeted by a thoughtfully designed upper level offering over 1,100 square feet of comfortable and functional living space.
The spacious primary suite serves as a true retreat, featuring a beautiful cathedral ceiling that enhances the room’s open and airy feel. Large windows provide abundant natural light, creating a peaceful space to unwind at the end of the day.
The luxurious primary bathroom was designed with both comfort and style in mind. It features a custom tiled shower, a relaxing soaking tub, a dual-sink vanity, and plenty of room to move about comfortably. Completing the suite is an oversized walk-in closet with ample storage and organization space.
One of the home’s most practical design features is the direct connection between the walk-in closet and the conveniently located laundry room. The laundry room offers dual access, creating a seamless flow that simplifies everyday living and makes laundry tasks more efficient and accessible.
Also located on the second floor are two generously sized children’s bedrooms along with an additional full bathroom, providing plenty of space for family members or guests. The thoughtful layout balances privacy for the primary suite while maintaining easy access to the secondary bedrooms.
Combining functionality, comfort, and custom design, the second floor perfectly complements the home’s stunning main level while providing over 1,100 square feet of well-planned living space for the entire family.
The finished lower level adds over 1,300 square feet of additional living space, making this home as functional as it is beautiful. Designed with both entertaining and everyday living in mind, the basement features a spacious family room anchored by a stunning custom built-in entertainment center, creating the perfect gathering space for movie nights, sporting events, or simply relaxing with family and friends.
This level also includes two additional bedrooms and a full bathroom, providing comfortable accommodations for guests, older children, or multi-generational living. A dedicated exercise room offers a private space for health and wellness, while still allowing flexibility for future use as hobbies and family needs evolve.
One of the standout features of this lower level is the impressive 9-foot ceilings, which create an open and inviting atmosphere rarely found in traditional basements. Combined with thoughtful design and quality finishes throughout, the space feels like a true extension of the main living areas rather than an afterthought.
In addition to its finished living areas, the basement provides abundant storage space, ensuring homeowners have plenty of room for seasonal items, recreational equipment, and household essentials.
In total, this custom home features over 4,100 square feet of finished living space, including approximately 2,800 square feet above grade and over 1,300 square feet in the finished lower level. The home offers 5 bedrooms, or 6 bedrooms when utilizing the main-floor flex room as a bedroom, 3.5 bathrooms, multiple gathering spaces, a dedicated office, exercise room, expansive outdoor living areas, and countless custom details throughout. Every square foot was intentionally designed to maximize functionality, comfort, and beauty while creating a home uniquely tailored to the homeowners’ lifestyle.
