Inspiration for a mid-sized timeless dark wood floor bedroom remodel in New York with blue walls

This elegant dining room with paneled walls was painted in Setting Plaster by Farrow & Ball and picked out in 18k gold by faux painter. The perfect setting for a room of collected antiques with antique rug from Sothebys and curtains in Fortuny fabric with custom passementerie from Christopher Hyland. Tying multiple floors together using 6”x36” dark grey wood-looking tile, laid on a staggered patterned worked well with the tile and concrete floors next to it. Two-toned cabinetry of wired brushed hickory with a grey stain wash, combined with maple wood in a dark slate finish is a current trend. Counter tops: combination of splashy granite and white Caesarstone grounded the display. A custom-designed table of ash wood, with heavy distressing and grey washed stain added warmth. Show custom features: Arched glass door cabinets with crown moulding to match. Unique Features: drawer in drawer for pot lids, pull out drawer in toe kick for dog dishes, toe space step stool, swing up mixer shelf, pull out spice storage. Built in Banquette seating with table and docking station for family meals and working. Custom open shelves and wine rack with detailed legs anchor the three sides of the island. Backsplash rail with spice rack, knife and utensil holder add more storage space. A floating soffit matches the shape of island and helps lower the showroom ceiling height to what would be found in a normal home. It includes: pendant lights for the snack bar, chandelier for the table and recess for task lights over the sink. The large triangular shaped island has eleven foot legs. It fills the unusual space and creates three separate areas: a work space, snack bar/room divider and table area.

DEANE Inc's beautiful dining area is complete with custom hardwood floors, a long bay window and tall open windows allowing for lots of sunlight throughout the day. The wooden oval dining table compliments the flooring and wooden chairs perfectly.

The butler’s pantry of Innovation House is more than just a means to the dining room and kitchen. Beautifully designed and equally functional, the space’s custom cabinetry by Crystal Cabinetry in SW Meditative, completed with polished nickel hardware by Horton Brass, beautifully displays the family’s ceramic collection while cleverly hiding lesser used serving pieces and small appliances. The terrazzo countertops by Dexterra in crystal reflect light off of the material’s glass and aggregate mix for visual interest as well as extreme temperature durability for hot chafing dishes and platters during large gatherings. The space is also outfitted with a wine refrigerator by SubZero, and ice maker by Hoshizak to keep thirsty guests out of the cook’s way during large parties and family functions. While the unexpected color of the cabinetry is a visual surprise, the more traditional tones of the custom walnut backsplash and glimmering cabinet pulls blend effortlessly with the timeless design of the rest of the home’s 7,000 square foot main living area. This kitchen is a perfect example of why appliance placement is so important. With the appliances stacked together in the corner of the kitchen, it created a tight and congested work triangle. The new homeowner liked the wide planked wood floor and the color of the existing cabinetry, but the quality needed upgrading. Relocating the refrigerator opened up the kitchen and added much-needed counter and storage space by the sink. The beautiful white kitchen cabinetry surrounds a stunning blue island with a 2-½” thick Blue Flower granite pitched-edge countertop.
