Project by Kristin Cadwalla featured in HGTV Magazine Kristin was tasked with styling around a living room sofa. The first thing she did was paint the walls a deep sapphire blue and hang a pair of brushed-gold sconces. Large pieces of artwork can be super expensive so Kristin slipped on her DIY hat. She decided to stencil our Cascade Allover Stencil, an eye-catching geometric pattern, onto the wall. She painted the pattern in a hot pink hue and then framed it using gold painted MDF molding. In the center of the stenciled wall accent, she hung a starburst mirror. We love how vibrant the space looks!

Yes, this additionally affects the proportion. Usually, return is 3½ inches. However, larger or taller windows might need a deeper return to avoid the fabric from getting squashed against the wall. This bathroom joins the formal sitting room. You can see the damask pattern in the hallway. Because the marble has a strong pattern we decided to go with a more subtle finish in the bathroom. Continuing the strie that was used in the sitting room without the stencil joins the areas thematically.

The floor is really the focal point here, it kind of works the same way wallpaper would, but -- it’s on the floor. I love this graphic tile, patterned after Moroccan encaustic, or cement tile, but this one is actually porcelain at a very affordable price point and much easier to install than cement tile. Once we had homeowner buy-in on the floor choice, the rest of the space came together pretty easily – we are calling it “transitional, Moroccan, industrial.” Key elements are the traditional vanity, Moroccan shaped mirrors and flooring, and plumbing fixtures, coupled with industrial choices -- glass block window, a counter top that looks like cement but that is actually very functional Corian, sliding glass shower door, and simple glass light fixtures. The final space is bright, functional and stylish. Quite a transformation, don’t you think? Quite often, homeowners neglect or don’t consider landscaping for the side of their homes. This photo shows how you can create a stunning look in even the smallest of spaces. The owners of this Spicewood, TX home, chose a path of river rocks leading from the privacy gate to the back yard. We laid the pebbles in a gently curving pattern to resemble a flowing river. This look was further enhanced with the addition of black soil at the sides. The camouflage looking pavers not only add another layer of visual appeal, but they also have a practical function as they provide a stable surface to walk on.
