Perched on a forested hillside above Missoula, the Pattee Canyon Residence provides a series of bright, light filled spaces for a young family of six. Set into the hillside, the home appears humble from the street while opening up to panoramic views towards the valley. The family frequently puts on large gatherings for friends of all ages; thus, multiple “eddy out” spaces were created throughout the home for more intimate chats.
Exposed steel structural ribs and generous glazing in the great room create a rhythm and draw one’s gaze to the folding horizon. Smaller windows on the lower level frame intimate portraits of nature. Cedar siding and dark shingle roofing help the home blend in with its piney surroundings. Inside, rough sawn cabinetry and nature inspired tile provide a textural balance with the bright white spaces and contemporary fixtures.

Large elegant brown two-story mixed siding exterior home photo in New York with a shingle roof

Arts and Crafts style home, also in the same genre as shingle style or hampton style home. The attention to detail is of the utmost....custom moulding details even on elements as small as the cupola all carefully planned and overseen during construction by Jordan Rosenberg Architect

This home received a dramatic exterior upgrade using James Hardie lap siding in Rich Espresso paired with matching trim and Versetta Stone accents. The dark siding creates a bold, modern rustic look while adding durability and low-maintenance protection.
The finished design combines rich color, natural stone texture, and high-performance materials to create a striking exterior built to handle tough weather conditions while elevating the home’s curb appeal.

This Second Empire Victorian, was built with a unique, modern, open floor plan for an active young family. The challenge was to design a Transitional Victorian home, honoring the past and creating its own future story. A variety of windows, such as lancet arched, basket arched, round, and the twin half round infused whimsy and authenticity as a nod to the period. Dark blue shingles on the Mansard roof, characteristic of Second Empire Victorians, contrast the white exterior, while the quarter wrap around porch pays homage to the former home.
