Hideaway, Le Marche - San Marino, Italy
A historical Hideaway.

A well-hidden place where the spirit finds its peace, nested between the Romagna, the Marches and Tuscany. Entering the gate, one leaves behind the pace of chaotic lives, and abandons itself to the joy of living of this ancient land. It is meant to be understood as a site of experience, where nature, culture, history and pleasure are elevated to the centre of things in order to finally rediscover it in oneself. A sort of “back to the simplicity”, aiming to dedicate oneself to observation and drawing from it valuable experiences for one’s life. Each of the three houses presents itself as an unexpected world in its own right, closed in on itself and yet a harmonious part of the whole, waiting to be enlivened by lively laughter, animated conversation and playfulness. This territory is a paradise for lovers of nature and the great outdoors. The sheer variety of places and landscapes enables visitors to take excursions on foot, on horseback or by mountain bike. History and architecture enthusiasts can follow an itinerary of strongholds and castles dotted around the area. Lovers of gourmet food will discover a full range of traditional dishes and quality local produce all year round. The rich variety of museums enables exploration into the rural arts, medieval architecture, archaeological finds and contemporary art.

New flooring was install throughout the salon in three areas; the waiting area, stylist's work areas and Day Spa area. In the waiting area we installed a porcelain tile with a coordinating 4x12 listello liner and 1x1 copper glass and porcelain mosaic laid in a random layout. The stylist's work area a 16x16 LVT (luxury vinyl tile) with a stamped concrete look that we straight laid. The back area of the salon, the Day Spa, is a combination of four colors of 12x12 LVT Centiva Coral Reef and Magic tiles which we laid in interesting patterns.

Connie Wyland has worked on several beauty salons in the past, including Pzazz Salon and Day Spa, located in Old Town Silverdale WA. The salon owner wanted some innovative renovations ideas to update the look of her salon.
The first stage was to choose new paint colors for the walls in the both the front waiting area and around the work stations. Space planning was done to relocate the reception desk making it's location more functional and facing the door so to greet the clients as they arrive. (See the attached floor plans).
The receptionist desk was refaced with NuMetal laminate in stainless steel and copper metals. We then epoxy glued on brushed nickel and copper knobs onto the opposite color metal laminate drawer face.

I was invited to take part in a design challenge. The challenge was to design a massage room for $500. There were about 8 different rooms. I spent all of the $500 in the room, donating my time. This was the end result. The therapist that worked in that room was very happy with how it turned out.

This bathroom won Honorable mention in the NKBA Chicago Mid-West Design contest in September of 2008. It has a timeless contemporary feel. The large mirror over the sink adds depth while the blue brings in the tranquility of a day spa.

This luxurious day spa reception area perfectly merges high-end elegance with modern tranquility. Large-format white marble porcelain tile flows continuously throughout the space, complementing dramatic marble-clad feature walls and warm wood cabinetry. Recessed ambient LED channel lighting and sleek linear pendants cast a soft, welcoming glow over the custom reception desk and glass retail displays. Architectural details like a rich wood-framed arched entry door, reeded glass partitions, and plush olive velvet armchairs elevate the refined interior aesthetic. At the end of the bright central hallway, a large picture window draws the eye to a picturesque outdoor desert landscape framed by towering saguaro cacti.
