About Us

Storybook Interiors is an interior design company based out of West Michigan, serving clients as far as Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City. Formerly operating under the name “Lindsay Hoekstra Custom Interiors, LLC”, owner and lead designer Lindsay Hoekstra has over 15 years combined experience in interior design and fine art. Through her experience, she has developed a keen eye for beauty, color, good design, and the skills to pull these elements together, creating spaces that amaze. Her business has since grown and evolved, now operating under the name Storybook Interiors, with a few new team members by her side. Our team at Storybook Interiors is passionate about using our knowledge and experience to redeem spaces and create finished products that bless, bring joy, and give life. It is important to us at Storybook Interiors to work closely with our clients, listening to their needs and desires to formulate a plan for their space. Instead of starting a project with a concrete 3D rendering with all pieces chosen, we begin with a layout and general concept or feel based on clients’ gathered inspiration photos, descriptions and specifications. This approach gives us better opportunities to find unique, reclaimed, antique and new pieces that may not be available during the concept stage. We call this process “Discovered Design”, discovering and acquiring the perfect pieces over time, while obtaining our clients approval of items along the way. The result is a beautiful, functional environment completely tailored to you! Our attic space was a "blank canvas" that we wanted to convert into a livable 5th bedroom. In short, we needed LOTS of design help. In our 87 year old house, the space was never finished off...no floor; no walls; no ceiling. Lindsay had the challenge of creating a welcoming bedroom and sitting area within the limits an odd shaped, slanted roof attic space. Lindsay began by listening. She had an uncanny knack for asking just the right questions that would help me articulate what we wanted, what we needed, and what we could afford. As we shared our ideas and desires, and those ideas were put into action, she was able to help me figure out the end game and keep me on track when a decision needed to be made. And she was very involved. She went to the showroom, sent emails with ideas, sent texts, made phone calls and came to the house as often as I needed her there to discuss the project. She keep MY vision her focus, and never got frustrated with my indecisiveness. She worked around the changing remodel schedule that included way too many contractors. In the end, she made the space EXACTLY what we had envisioned. Its a beautiful, well planned, large, warm and welcoming bedroom space. I'd hire Lindsay again in a heartbeat for our next project.

We worked with Lindsay to turn a bare-bones room into an office/craft space. She came prepared with ideas and helped us choose flooring, paint colors, countertops, and finishes and we are thrilled with the final result! I appreciated that she chose an eclectic mix of colors and style to make the space fun but functional. She gave us an estimate at the outset and stuck to the budget so there were no surprises. The space looks fabulous and I can't wait to work with her again in the future!

Lindsay helped us redesign our master bath. It was an old and awkward space that she transformed into a beautiful spa-like retreat. She started by listening well to what we shared about our likes, dislikes, and overall vision for our bathroom. She worked her magic and captured the look and style we were hoping for. I had the awesome opportunity to have Lindsay Hoekstra design my master bathroom remodeling project. I loved that Lindsay worked so well within my budget. What I really appreciated was that she stuck within my budget. She gave me options that helped me to be actively involved in the decision making. She really listened to my likes and my concerns and met them head on. We choose to do some of the work ourselves in order to save money in one area so we could spend it in another area that we had no experience with. Lindsay has great outside contractors that she uses that I felt were experts in their fields and trustworthy. Overall I could not have asked for a better experience. I have also hired Lindsay by the hour as a consultant to assist me in picking paint colors and lighting when i was stumped as to what would work for my style and my home. I can't wait for another opportunity to use Lindsay Hoekstra Custom Interiors

Lindsay is absolutely incredible! When we purchased our home, we knew that it wasn't exactly a fit in its current state. Lindsay blessed us with her decorating gifts and had an eye for detail that made our new house truly our home. She had the ability to transform space and make it not only family friendly, but eye-catching and trendy. I am beyond satisfied with her work and would give her my highest recommendation.
