Inspiration for a small transitional black tile and subway tile powder room remodel in New York with multicolored walls, a vessel sink and limestone countertops

Bold and striking, the entry declares this is no ordinary design. It was fun laying out the puzzle floor (set the tiles however you wish- an arrow points the way upstairs). I love the textures and tones. Rombini large white triangle tiles from Italy anchor the back wall. Belgian white oak from Madera adorn the steps.

The kitchen has shades of dark grey, charcoal for its countertops, kithchen island, and cabinets. The charcoal glass backsplash completes the dark look. Equipments, devices and food products are ingeniously hidden behind the charcoal lacquered panels. All the appliances are integrated and the fridge is panel-ready. The countertop wraps the kitchen island, creating one distinctive element in the middle of the space.

This award-winning guest bedroom project now tells the story of Pennsylvania's role in the Revolutionary War. Chairs are in a Philadelphia style, reupholstered in a Thibaut crewel fabric. The window treatment, in a Thibaut jacquard woven fabric, with a tailored balloon shade in the same crewel fabric used on the chairs, is inspired by the uniform of the officer in the portrait over the fireplace (not seen here). The engraving of Benjamin Franklin is from the Anderson House collection. In 1887, England declared an imperial holiday to commemorate Queen Victoria’s 50th year on the throne—her “golden jubilee.” Public celebrations occurred across the empire. Photographs from India show a distinctive array of glass lanterns illuminating the occasion, representing the hybrid of Anglo and Indian design sensibilities. Hampton reproduces these historic, mouth-blown glass lanterns. While the oversized bell jar originally held a reservoir of whale oil, we suspend a candelabra array to provide warm light without the mess. The upper shade deflected the oil’s thick smoke to prevent it from staining the ceiling. Hampton comes in four metal finishes and three glass options, allowing you to customize the look to your own décor.

Unique in its design, the Cathedral Lamp dignifies a dark finish declaring its medieval past with a contemporary industrial presence. Glass shade pieces gloriously inspire the surrounding design using angled cuts and half sphere shapes while an elongated body style accents its candelabra focal point. The blended metals of copper, steel, and brass dynamically elevate the allure of an old retired Ford engine pulley with new life and purpose. A series of triangular brass links running down its exterior is an abstract representation of the chain of beliefs that bind us all.

This is an example of a mid-sized industrial drought-tolerant and partial sun backyard landscaping in Phoenix with a fire pit for spring.

We all know that Thomas Jefferson was one of our founding fathers. But did you know he is credited with inventing the swivel chair in 1776? He may have sat on it to draft the United States Declaration of Independence! These versatile pieces of furniture come in handy when we want to create a seating area with multiple views. In this case, the chairs can face the fireplace, the TV or the gorgeous backyard. Here’s another great idea to update a great room – reface the fireplace to reflect your style. The artwork above the mantel is another piece of local artwork.

Since it was built in 1910 by Alfred and Grace Hare this home has been lovingly cared for by it’s past and present owners, and for that care it was declared a Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument. The home’s charm is everywhere: stone porch, shingles, original wood wainscoting and trims, glass buffet, but our clients’ young family had desperately outgrown the tiny kitchen. With thought, care, and quality workmanship an addition at the rear afforded them a new kitchen and main bedroom suite. Hive Home designed the kitchen to marry modern function with the home’s historic whimsy, creating a fresh space that feels right at home. The main bath is a soothing respite with a custom colored historic tile floor and a generous shower space. So many subtle details were decided on (keep an eye out for the hares), and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the result. We hope our clients love their new space for many happy years to come!
