This is an example of a mid-sized industrial drought-tolerant and partial sun backyard landscaping in Phoenix with a fire pit for spring.

We all know that Thomas Jefferson was one of our founding fathers. But did you know he is credited with inventing the swivel chair in 1776? He may have sat on it to draft the United States Declaration of Independence! These versatile pieces of furniture come in handy when we want to create a seating area with multiple views. In this case, the chairs can face the fireplace, the TV or the gorgeous backyard. Here’s another great idea to update a great room – reface the fireplace to reflect your style. The artwork above the mantel is another piece of local artwork.

Since it was built in 1910 by Alfred and Grace Hare this home has been lovingly cared for by it’s past and present owners, and for that care it was declared a Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument. The home’s charm is everywhere: stone porch, shingles, original wood wainscoting and trims, glass buffet, but our clients’ young family had desperately outgrown the tiny kitchen. With thought, care, and quality workmanship an addition at the rear afforded them a new kitchen and main bedroom suite. Hive Home designed the kitchen to marry modern function with the home’s historic whimsy, creating a fresh space that feels right at home. The main bath is a soothing respite with a custom colored historic tile floor and a generous shower space. So many subtle details were decided on (keep an eye out for the hares), and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the result. We hope our clients love their new space for many happy years to come!

"I can declare them an unquestionable success! They went up fast, were fun to put together and are even more fun filling with books and objects. Any imperfections add character, I love the unique character of the fabrication." \

Welcome to Cambre Oaks! This quaint community offers lots in a variety of sizes and a beautiful community pond in a quiet, convenient location. With quick access to I-10, you’re out of the city but still close to the many things Baton Rouge and New Orleans have to offer. Gonzales, the “Jambalaya Capital of the World”, was declared by The Chamber of Commerce as one of the top 5 cities to live in in 2019. For more than 40 years, the city has proudly held an annual springtime Jambalaya Festival and even has a Jambalaya Park next to the city hall. With its proximity to the Mississippi River, there are a number of antebellum plantation homes within a short drive. It’s also a shopper’s dream. Its sprawling Tanger Factory Outlet Mall attracts people from miles away but your new home in Cambre Oaks is less than a mile from all the shopping, entertainment, and food the outlet has to offer. The same goes for the 165,000 square foot Cabela’s, which is part museum and part retail store for campers, fishermen, and hunters. All of this combined with the quality, energy-efficient homes DSLD has to offer makes for a great place to call home!

Key to this renovation was the strategic use of folding glass walls, which were instrumental in transforming the interaction in space between the home’s interiors and its lush surroundings. The folding glass wall systems were installed in critical areas like the dining area and primary bedroom, which now open grandly to the backyard. This home truly embodies the Mid-Century Modern architectural design principle of blending indoor and outdoor spaces. “The essence of mid-century design is the blur between indoors and outdoors; NanaWall captured this perfectly, enhancing our living space,” declares the designer/homeowner.

This bedroom and full bathroom are part of an adventuresome project my wife and I embarked upon to create a complete apartment in the basement of our townhouse. We designed a floor plan that creatively and efficiently used all of the 385-square-foot-space, without sacrificing beauty, comfort or function – and all without breaking the bank! To maximize our budget, we did the work ourselves and added everything from thrift store finds to DIY wall art to bring it all together.
A partial double closet bar adds a little extra space while still leaving room for longer hanging clothes.

The finishes, fixtures and furnishings were selected to brighten, declaratively modernize and enlarge the apartment beyond it’s square footage.
Interventions included the installation of an oversized awning window to enclose a previously open terrace. Wall wash lighting to evenly illuminate sharp white walls. Flat front flush doors with invisible hinges to keep walls uninterrupted. Reveal baseboards. Flush outlets. Raw prime 2.5” oak flooring and waterfall tread stair.
The saturated colors of the curvilinear, high modernist furnishing and cove lighting, their revolutionary use of resin and performance fabrics, juxtaposed with rustic wood and rush pop, and complete the new ‘gallery’ aesthetic.
