Lighting or illumination is the deliberate use of light to achieve a practical or aesthetic effect. Lighting includes the use of both artificial light sources like lamps and light fixtures, as well as natural illumination by capturing daylight. Day-lighting (using windows, skylights, or light shelves) is sometimes used as the main source of light during daytime in buildings. Proper lighting can enhance task performance, improve the appearance of an area, or have positive psychological effects on occupants.
Indoor lighting is usually accomplished using light fixtures, and is a key part of interior design. Lighting can also be an intrinsic component of landscape projects.

Great room with sliding glass wall open to the veranda and lap pool, custom residence in San Jose Del Cabo by Hyde Evans Design. Indoor-outdoor living was a primary design objective for this Baja California home — the great room functions as an extension of the outdoor space as much as a contained interior. The palette draws from the surrounding landscape: warm neutrals, natural materials, and deliberate color accents that read against the light and water outside. Interior Design: Hyde Evans Design, Seattle, WA.

Two full bathroom remodels completed back to back in the same home — sequenced deliberately so the homeowner could stay comfortable and keep living in the house throughout the entire project. No displacement, no hotels, just smart scheduling and clean jobsite management.
Both bathrooms were taken down to the studs and rebuilt with a modern look and fully upgraded features — walk-in showers, heated floors, heated towel bars, and all new fixtures, tile, and finishes throughout. The kind of transformation where nothing from before carries over except the walls.

The first selection was, of course, the washer and dryer. After considering different brands, we went with the Electrolux Laundry Tower. It had great reviews, and most importantly, the controls were easily accessible—something I hadn’t considered before, but as a shorter person, this was crucial! Plus, the sleek titanium color was exactly what I envisioned for the room’s darker palette.
I wanted the walls to complement the tile while adding dimension to the room. After much deliberation, I chose Sherwin Williams-Software for the walls and African Gray for the ceiling. For the cabinetry, I opted for Green Forest Cabinets , which offered both sturdiness and affordability in a Blanco finish.

A DEANE client returned in 2022 for an update to their kitchen remodel project from 2006. This incredible transformation was driven by the desire to create a glamorous space for both cooking and entertaining. The frameless cabinetry with a mitered door and satin brass hardware is deliberately understated to highlight the marble. Dramatic and bold, the continuous, book-matched Panda White marble was used throughout the open footprint, including the fireplace surround, to give the space a cohesive feel. The custom, tapered hood, also covered in Panda White is a commanding centerpiece. The expansive space allowed for two waterfall-edge islands with mitered countertops - one for cooking with black-stained oak cabinets for storage and a prep sink, and the second to seat 6 for dining, which replaced the original informal eating area. A tray ceiling with wallpaper detailing elegantly frames both together.
No detail was overlooked in the design process. A coffee station with retractable doors and beverage drawers was situated to graciously welcome guests. A Wolf 60” range, walnut interiors, customized drawer inserts, unlacquered brass finishes and a Galley Workstation elevate this kitchen into a truly sophisticated space.

he LoculaMENTUM bookcase was designed to meld traditional bookcase appearance with a modern interpretation and a twist. This twist allows for books or other collectible items to be artfully arranged, categorized, presented.
Diagonal compartments are the spine of the bookcase, so there is a progression of shapes: from the bottom to the top, creating an uplifting feel that has maximum storage capabilities. This is true to the Bauhaus principle, which denotes “form follows function”. In our bookcase design, warm traditional veneers paired with a modern finish and a versatile compartment proportioning make this piece of furniture one with the space.
Beveled edges, visible from every notion, add a distinctive unique touch to the bookcase. A design element that is consistently used in our projects, which translates into sleek streamlined furniture designs.
