This separate dining room is part of a different apartment. You CAN mix styles. Country baskets and banquettes (from Zentique), modern table and china cabinet (from The Door Store).

Dining alcove. My husband and I combined our furniture from "our previous lives" to create eclectic living spaces. His antique table and legal bookcase (which I use to display china and stemware) and my Crate & Barrel dining chairs.

Get creative when choosing artwork for your rooms. These 3 old baskets work well in this narrow space.

Redesign of a client's Manhattan apartment (phase 1). I suggested she purchase either a throw or a couple of throw pillows in an avocado green print that would tie in the beautiful color of the walls.

The right-side bedside table is actually the sewing table base that I had in the entry + a marble top to match the left-side table.

Scale is so important. The left-side bedside table is actually a bistro table donated by my sister. A standard bedside table was too small for this space. Country prints are from a CT flea market.

Interesting living spaces don't happen overnight. The items in this room were acquired over a period of approximately 30 years. My grandmother's leather-top end table just happens to match my husband's faux bamboo nesting tables! Collect items you are in love with over time and you'll be surprised at how well you can put it all together. I realized, over the years, that I was drawn to Asian art and antiques, and that I love the color light blue (in the hydrangea, silk pillow and planter). Home Goods rug. Stickley sleep-sofa. 56" cocktail table from eBay. Domain mirror... and the authentic antique Chinese gong... 200 bucks from a Long Island antiques store.

Library leading out to the sun room. Wall-mounted TV with rotating extension arm fits snugly against the wall when not in use. Below the TV are 3 nesting wrought-iron garden tables I use to house the cable box, DVD player, etc. My motto: "Re-use and re-purpose!!"

The vanity doors, kitchen backsplash and keeping room floor covering, master sheers are all derivatives of a quatrefoil.
