Eichler X-100 Rear Exterior & Pool: Where Architecture Meets Landscape The rear exterior of the Eichler X-100 is where the home fully expresses its vision of indoor-outdoor living—a seamless composition of architecture, landscape, and water that feels both sculptural and deeply livable. Designed by A. Quincy Jones and Frederick Emmons for Joseph Eichler, this side of the home transforms the backyard into an extension of the interior experience. A Wall of Glass to the Landscape The rear façade is defined by expansive floor-to-ceiling glass walls, dissolving the boundary between inside and out. Living spaces open directly to the backyard, allowing light, air, and views to flow freely through the home. From nearly every angle, the outdoors becomes part of the architecture. The Pool as a Design Element At the center of the backyard is a striking geometric pool, often described as being formed through intersecting circular forms. This is not just a recreational feature—it is a deliberate extension of the home’s architectural language. The curves of the pool contrast with the linear steel structure, creating a balanced interplay between softness and precision. Outdoor Living, Elevated The rear grounds are carefully composed to support both relaxation and entertaining: Integrated patio and seating areas Clean hardscape that echoes the home’s geometry Landscaping that enhances privacy while maintaining openness Every element is intentional, reinforcing a sense of calm and cohesion. A Continuous Flow of Space Large sliding glass panels allow the interior to open fully to the backyard, turning the living areas into an open-air pavilion. Whether hosting guests or enjoying a quiet moment, the transition between interior and exterior is effortless. This is California Modernism in its purest form. Framed Views and Privacy Despite the openness, the design maintains a strong sense of privacy and enclosure. They always loved their house – its shape and size, and the piece of land it sits on; but the interior left a lot to be desired. In fact, they hated it. They wanted it to be aesthetically more pleasing and to have much more function and flow. These homeowners challenged Lagois to make it the home of their dreams, and that’s exactly what happened. One of the homeowners loves to cook, but the kitchen was dark. The space was difficult and frustrating. The new kitchen is bigger, brighter, and more functional. It now has all the prep space he needs and the task lighting he always wanted. They also love their new spa bathroom, which is beautiful and warm and exactly what they had in mind. One of the homeowners describes himself as fussy and impatient, and at first he had been anxious about the whole prospect of renovation. He said afterwards that the team made him feel comfortable, listened to, and unconcerned. One factor that made them so at ease with choosing Lagois was the “in house” aspect of their services. The person who designed their home, the one who did the drawings, and the person who managed the construction are all Lagois employees. One of our regular realtor clients brought us in to stage this home, which was personally owned by him. Before the staging was even finished he called to say how excited he was by what he saw when he peaked through the window - so warm and cozy, yet also elegant is how he described it. He was elated when it sold in a day, shortly before Christmas - and he credited our staging with making it happen. The buyers loved the staging so much, they wanted to buy all of our furniture, art and accessories!

Words are hard to describe how gorgeous this bathroom is! Unfortunately, the original space was chopped up and did not flow properly, so I started with the original footprint and removed everything internally. The homeowner's requirements for the new area were a large vanity with a separate make-up vanity, steam shower, coffee station, water closet, and a built-in TV with storage. The custom inset cabinetry combines raised and flat panel doors and drawers, and the mosaic water-jet marble tile is the focal point entering the steam shower. Gold lighting brings warmth into the space, and the two windows let natural light stream in. Make sure you see the adjoining custom closet designed to harmonize with the bathroom.

Wrong! This bachelor wanted his home to be clean, sophisticated and still cozy. Not the typical black "pleather" futons and bean bag chairs. THANK GOD! So Senior Designer, Cori Dyer got right to work! Beginning with the layout and space plan, you can see that this large two story ling room has a bit of an odd layout...Open to the dining room, and the foyer, fireplace on one side along with his baby grand piano, flanked with french doors to the patio and lake. While the other side housed the TV. We like to try and create one focal point, however, this room wouldn't allow it. So creating separate seating groups that worked together and cohesively was what this room needed.

Large, historic home from the 1930's overlooking downtown Santa Cruz. My clients are self-described "plantaholics" and tend to buy many plants, only to have them die. They have an extensive gardening area and low water budget. Our main goal was to make the overall design cohesive between various areas of the garden while utilizing interesting and unusual plant selections - a very fun project for me! We removed over 3,000 square feet of traditional grass and replaced it with several lawn alternatives. The first is a walkable groundcover that uses a fraction of the water of regular grass (and can be seen here in several seasons, one of which has tiny flowers); The second is a California native grass that grows long (or can be kept short) and can tolerate some shade. Both of these are excellent choices for clients with children or dogs who want a green patch without using excessive water. My clients love plants from Australia and South Africa so plants from the Proteacea and other Southern Hemisphere beauties are used predominantly throughout the project. Clean, flowing water is so important for wildlife and the beautiful stone fountain is a constant gathering spot for birds and other animals. My clients are beyond thrilled with their gorgeous, nature-filled garden and ever-expanding plant knowledge.

StreetSide Developments created a plan that they described as an exercise in brilliant space allocation. At 819 sq. ft. the home offers a bright and airy space with 9 ft. ceilings and truly expansive windows in both the main living space and bedrooms. Additionally, the building includes an incredible rooftop terrace which offers panoramic views of Edmonton's cityscape to the south and the prairie to the north!

This family’s basement had become a catch-all space and was sorely underutilized. Although it was spacious, the current layout wasn’t working. The homeowners wanted to transform this space from closed and dreary to open and inviting. Specific requirements of the design included: - Opening up the area to create an awesome family hang out space game room for kids and adults - A bar and eating area - A theater room that the parents could enjoy without disturbing the kids at night - An industrial design aesthetic The transformation of this basement is amazing. Walls were opened to create flow between the game room, eating space and theater rooms. One end of a staircase was closed off, enabling the soundproofing of the theater. A light neutral palette and gorgeous lighting fixtures make you forget that you are in the basement. Unique materials such as galvanized piping, corrugated metal and cool light fixtures give the space an industrial feel. Now, this basement functions as the great family hang out space the homeowners envisioned.

Elegant and quaint describes this open layout kitchen and living area. We love the 3 glass chandeliers reflecting the beautiful shade of blue walls. Wood flooring ties all the different elements together from glass to ceramic to marble. Bright white cabinets with complimentary built-ins tie this space together. Pops of yellow with the furniture adds a great contrast.

Modern farmhouse describes this open concept, light and airy ranch home with modern and rustic touches. Precisely positioned on a large lot the owners enjoy gorgeous sunrises from the back left corner of the property with no direct sunlight entering the 14’x7’ window in the front of the home. After living in a dark home for many years, large windows were definitely on their wish list. Three generous sliding glass doors encompass the kitchen, living and great room overlooking the adjacent horse farm and backyard pond. A rustic hickory mantle from an old Ohio barn graces the fireplace with grey stone and a limestone hearth. Rustic brick with scraped mortar adds an unpolished feel to a beautiful built-in buffet.

This fitted home office was built in a nook of a hallway of a client’s house in the region of Kensington. The newly integrated and customised office was built in a way to meet the client’s needs for modernity, elegance and practicality. A desk design with customised space for laptop, a built-in USB socket, floating shelves and a melamine finish are just few features that describe the state-of-the-art and the bespoke design of this home office.

This beautifully renovated basement bathroom blends contemporary design with natural textures to create a tranquil retreat. A rich green vertical tile wraps the entire walk-in shower, adding dramatic height and spa-like serenity to the space. The warm wood vanity with clean-lined drawers provides ample storage while adding organic contrast to the polished brass fixtures and crisp white quartz countertop. Built-in open shelving holds soft textiles and modern artwork, bringing both function and personality into the space.
