The homeowners requested an outdoor living space that had to include a swimming pool, pool house, patios, and an outdoor kitchen. The space and pool had to be large enough to accommodate large gatherings. Several challenges had to be solved during the design phase such as the uneven grade of the backyard, water runoff, the restrictions imposed by the drain field on one side and the reserve drain field on the other and the building set back at the rear. These restrictions provided a very limited area of usable space. Measurements and elevations had to be absolutely precise in order for the project to remain within the imposed boundaries. The grading issues were particularly challenging so substantial retaining walls were used to elevate the pool and patio surfaces. This allowed minimizing the number of steps between the various levels in order to maximize the usable square footage of the patio while simultaneously staying within the allowable area. The design also dictated that the pool house line up precisely with the main house so its placement was particularly important. The materials chosen for the wall surfaces were dictated by what was already present on the house. Travertine stone was chosen for the patio surface to fulfill the homeowner’s desire for real stone and compliment the colors and textures of the wall materials. The careful choice of materials resulted in a cohesive, unified and comfortable outdoor living space.

The shape of the room and the request for 5 domino hobs determined the need for a large and sociable island. It was also important to provide the perfect place for the family to gather whilst mum cooks. A large kitchen sink was particularly desired by the owners who wanted to be able to use this area as a wet zone work station. THE CHALLENGE With such a large number of cabinets within this kitchen we created diversity and interest by introducing three harmonising finishes; sterling grey, walnut and truffle grey; each defining their own zones. Onto these we added 4 different handle types to accent the different areas and create interest and individuality. Integrating a Kohler Stages sink into a Stainless steel work top provided the perfect wet zone area, whereas on the island the Blanco Rivers Silestone offers a more classic and homely appeal without compromising practicality. THE OUTCOME This new kitchen is a world apart from the clients original wooden in-frame kitchen. Its understated style is innately calming whilst the careful space planning means that it is fantastically practical and a joy to use. While there is plenty of balanced natural light, there is very little direct solar radiation - reducing glare, heat, eyestrain, and is simply just more comfortable to hang out in.

The owners desired a dressing room that would function as an extension of the luxury bathroom experience rather than a separate utilitarian storage area. The challenge was to transform a standard builder-grade closet into a sophisticated fashion-inspired environment capable of displaying clothing, handbags, accessories, and collectibles in a manner consistent with the overall design vision. Additionally, the project required the successful integration of numerous statement elements—including oversized stone surfaces, custom lighting installations, decorative mirrors, artwork, architectural wall treatments, bespoke cabinetry, and specialty storage systems—while maintaining visual harmony and preventing the space from feeling overly busy or cluttered. The focal point of the bathroom became the sculptural freestanding soaking tub positioned on a custom stone platform with LED lighting and framed by an oversized feature wall clad in dramatically veined stone. The walk-in closet was reimagined as a boutique-inspired dressing room featuring custom-designed black oak cabinetry, integrated LED lighting, specialty display shelving, illuminated storage niches, custom accessory organization, and a central dressing vanity. The doors fold away in sections, allowing the homeowners to open up as much of the wall to the outdoors as desired. This piece is our handmade solid walnut topped farmhouse table. It also has walnut legs with amazing industrial supports and accents. This table is customizable and can fit any vintage, rustic or minimalist décor in modern or urban settings. It could also make a gorgeous display table in a retail outlet. A smaller version could act as a lovely kitchen island in your home or loft. If you would like yours to have a more industrial look; more bolts could be added as well as rivets. Out with the dated honey oak, and in with the sophisticated ebony shaded cabinetry, millwork and dry-stack stone fireplace, not to mention what started it all—a desire for a bigger TV to take center stage. These Ham Lake residents wanted to upgrade their small, very old TV to a large screen high definition unit. Unfortunately, their 15-year-old corner built in wouldn't accommodate the needed space. Like so many things in remodeling, the simplest desire leads to the most dramatic effects. In this particular case, the old TV cabinet and fireplace was removed and replaced with a sophisticated entertainment cabinet ensemble shaded in a dark ebony glaze and a dry-stack stone surround. Exclusive to Miele, the CupSensor automatically adjusts the height of the spout to the optimum position for different cup and glass sizes. Whether a tall latté macchiato or a dainty espresso is being prepared, the central spout automatically adjusts to the cup’s rim and eliminates splashing. The CupSensor even reacts precisely to beverages made with milk by raising the spout slightly to make room for the incoming espresso.
