Many West Lafayette homeowners want to change their kitchens, whether because it functions poorly, their tastes have evolved, the kitchen is deteriorating, or they simply want to change.
Tackling several common pain points in their older kitchen, these West Lafayette homeowners approached Riverside Construction with a desire to open up their living area and update all the kitchen amenities including the fixtures, cabinets, and appliances. With peninsula-like counters that were too low, the kitchen also lacked much-needed countertop space. Still yet, the homeowners wanted to add a larger window above the sink to bring in natural light and expand the view of the ravine in the backyard.
Riverside Construction took out the wall separating the living room from the kitchen, and changed the layout (from U-shaped to L-shaped) to create the larger, more functional space our clients were looking for. We swapped the old white cabinetry for new custom Wellborn shaker-style cabinets in a coffee stain and installed a 'City Lights Tokyo' Daltile tile backsplash. The countertops were topped with Giallo Verona granite.
An oversize island was designed into the space to match the new custom cabinetry and provided comfortable seating for five, also eliminating the need for a kitchen table. The old back door was replaced with a large sliding glass door letting in more natural light.
Other highlights of this kitchen remodel include a beautiful Maglia Bronze chandelier that creates a stunning focal point, along with warm and durable Bella Cera Sisters chester engineered hickory hardwood flooring throughout.

Vicarage renovation and restoration project for St. Andrew’s Church. The vicarage had a flood damaging the entire 1st floor. Over the years the space had deteriorated and various tenants had painted over and over and even put stables into 120 year old moldings and other wood detail. We wanted to bring the original integrity back to the space by matching the original hardwood flooring, refinishing and staining moldings where possible, building & extending moldings to match where they could not be salvaged, such as the plate rail that was missing parts, and removing old gunky paint. It was also important to make the space feel fresh and beautiful. The church has Gothic elements so we wanted to bring that feeling along with the beauty of the church into the vicarage space.
The bathroom echoed the kitchen cabinetry in classic burgundy but we painted the moldings, including the plate rail which we built, in high gloss for an elevated look. The flooring in black & white checker pattern is a nod to flooring common in churches around the world. The arched mirror and sconces are reminiscent of the gothic elements at St. Andrew’s. We also added the fun hand detailed towel ring and toilet paper holder.

The siding on this house was deteriorating, the color was drab, and they had little to no insulation. We completely took off all of the siding, added insulation, and put new siding up. We gave it a fresh coat of white paint with black trim to really make it pop.

This curved window sunroom we made for our client David E. in Downtown Los Angeles, California was our most challenging and proudest project yet. We had to perfectly design a never-before-attempted template to remove the ugly grids his older, aluminum window frames had made. His majestic view of Los Angeles was replaced by 16 ugly aluminum windows which were deteriorating right before his eyes. His exact comments were, "Thank you for reminding me why I moved in here and purchased this home in the first place. You guys gave me my view back." We could not be happier.

This small, medium and large planter pot set has a rattan style texture, but thanks to its polypropylene resin construction you will never have to worry about the peeling or the unraveling that happens with traditional rattan or wicker materials. These sturdy round planters will stand the test of time without fading. The quality plastic is water resistant and won't deteriorate, break, rot, rust or stain like other materials can when subjected to the elements. This guarantees that these containers will last a long time whether they are placed in the living room or outside on the patio.

What started as a severely deteriorated bathroom with failing plumbing, decayed walls, and outdated tile was fully transformed into a serene, spa-inspired retreat. The renovation began with a complete gutting of the space down to the studs, removing all rotted wood, corroded pipes, and mold-prone materials.
The finished space features custom travertine tile throughout, a frameless glass shower enclosure with built-in bench, mosaic accent trim, and a rain-style shower fixture. A sleek custom vanity with granite countertop and updated plumbing fixtures completes the space, along with new electrical, lighting, and ventilation. Every detail was designed and executed to deliver lasting comfort, functionality, and timeless elegance.

Rear view depicting the many protrusions and pitch changes in this intricate aluminum standing seam installation in Milford, CT. We took the multiple layers of asphalt shingles off this roof and brought it down to the plank roof deck. We replaced many deteriorated planks to bring the roof deck back to sound condition and then covered the entire roof with high-temperature Ice and Water Shield. After installing and flashing three new Velux skylights above the rear sunroom, we installed Englert 1300 aluminum standing seam metal in Hartford Green. This color choice really fits in with the craftsman style and color of the home.

We started as a kitchen remodel but discovered there was mold in the majority of the exterior walls as well as the attic. The mold was caused by a number of problems but namely because the waterproof paper wrap on the house had deteriorated and was moisture to pass through the stucco and into the wood framing. In addition there was a leaking air conditioner condenser in the attic that was draining saturating the wood above the master bedroom. The mold was causing health problems it became clear we needed to replace a large majority of the framing and prevent future problems.
So we went from a kitchen addition/remodel to rebuilding the majority of the home and adding 800sqft; including a new bedroom, expanding the master bedroom and bath as well as a walk-in closet.
In anticipating for aging in place, we installed a walk-in shower with a bench and grab bars to allow for future wheelchair access and reduce trip hazards.

This home was built in the 70's and as you can imagine has acquired a few "ailments" over the past 40 years, one of the more serious being the deterioration of the front entrance. The brick started to loosen over the years and eventually started to break apart completely, it got to the point that the family could not use the front entrance at all due to the safety hazard it represented. After interviewing with several contractors the home owners contacted David Sharp with DSLD Land Management and he was able to ease the tension and offer a solution that not only resulted in a beautifully restored front entrance but that also fit comfortably into their budget. The project took less than a week to complete and as you can imagine the home owners are thrilled with the final product!

The original double entry door showed visible wear over time, with surface damage and aging materials that affected both appearance and performance. Its outdated design and deteriorating condition reduced the home’s curb appeal and compromised overall durability and insulation.

Our client needed help with a safe, simple backyard patio design. The previous deck and landscaping had deteriorated and a new low maintenance style/design was needed. A simple stone patio with a retaining wall to allow for the hilly grade of the property was designed. Lighting, a fire pit and a sail shade make this new space so very inviting and cozy.
