This off-grid mountain barn home located in the heart of the Rockies sits at 7,500 feet and has expansive, beautiful views of the foothills below. The model is a Barn Pros 36 ft. x 36 ft. Denali barn apartment with a partially enclosed shed roof on one side for outdoor seating and entertainment area. The deck off the back of the building is smaller than the standard 12 ft. x 12 ft. deck included in the Denali package. Roll-up garage doors like the one shown at the front of the home are an add-on option for nearly any Barn Pros kit. Inside, the finish is decidedly rustic modern where sheetrock walls contrast handsomely with the exposed posts and beams throughout the space. The owners incorporated garage parking, laundry, kitchenette with wood-burning stove oven, bathroom, workout area and a pool table all on the first floor. The upper level houses the main living space where contemporary décor and finished are combined with natural wood flooring and those same exposed posts and beams. Lots of natural light fills the space from the 18 ft. vaulted ceilings, dormer windows and French doors off the living room. The owners added a partial loft for additional sleeping and a functional storage area.

The Brighton is a 4 bedroom, 5 and one half bath model home with 6,326 square feet under air featuring a Great Room, Dining Room, Family Room, Kitchen with Cafe Area, and Study. The Family Room and Nook open up to the outdoor living area leading to the pool, spa, and Summer Kitchen, allowing for a total square footage of 9,954 square feet. The Master Suite also opens up to a Master Retreat for a cozy outdoor living experience. Tom Harper This home was a renovation of a traditional weekend log home into a modern full time retirement residence. This home was shy of storage, loaded with lots of wood (floors, walls and ceilings were all wood) and was dated and dull. We completely blew out the kitchen and all bathrooms and totally renovated the basement into a cozy entertainment space. The style ended up being "mountain modern" which was sensitive to the modern home style, but fresh with contemporary creature comforts and details.

This home sits in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in beautiful Jackson Wyoming. Natural elements like stone, wood and leather combined with a warm color palette give this barn apartment a rustic and inviting feel. The footprint of the barn is 36ft x 72ft leaving an expansive 2,592 square feet of living space in the apartment as well as the barn below. Custom touches were added by the client with the help of their builder and include a deck off the side of the apartment with a raised dormer roof, roll-up barn entry doors and various decorative details. These apartment models can accommodate nearly any floor plan design you like. Posts that are located every 12ft support the structure meaning that walls can be placed in any configuration and are non-load baring.

Relocating from San Francisco, this young family immediately zeroed in on the wonderful historic homes around downtown Chicago. Most of the properties they saw checked a lot of wish list boxes, but none of them checked every box. The house they landed on had beautiful curb appeal, a dramatic entry with a welcoming porch and front hall, and a really nice yard. Unfortunately, it did not have a kitchen that was well set-up for cooking and entertaining. Reworking the kitchen area was the top priority. The family had met with a few other designers and even had an architect take a crack at the space, but they were not able to come up with a viable solution. Here’s how Senior Designer Diana Burton approached the project… Design Objectives: Respect the home’s vintage feel while bringing the kitchen up to date Open up the kitchen area to create an open space for gathering and entertaining Upgrade appliances to top-of-the-line models Include a large island with seating Include seating for casual family meals in a space that won’t be a replacement for the adjacent formal dining room THE REMODEL Design Challenges: Remove a load-bearing wall and combine smaller rooms to create one big kitchen A powder room in the back corner of the existing kitchen was a huge obstacle to updating the layout Maintain large windows with views of the yard while still providing ample storage Design Solutions: Relocating the powder room to another part of the first floor (a large closet under the stairs) opened up the space dramatically Create space for a larger island by recessing the fridge/freezer and shifting the pantry to a space adjacent to the kitchen A banquette saves space and offers a perfect solution for casual dining The walnut banquette table beautifully complements the fridge/freezer armoire Utilize a gap created by the new fridge location to create a tall shallow cabinet for liquor storage w/ a wine cubby Closing off one doorway into the dining room and using the “between the studs” space for a tall storage cabinet Dish organizing drawers offer handy storage for plates, bowls, and serving dishes right by main sink and dishwasher Cabinetry backing up to the dining room offers ample storage for glassware and functions both as a coffee station and cocktail bar Open shelves flanking the hood add storage without blocking views and daylight A beam was required where the wall was removed.
