LastiSeal® Concrete Stain & Sealer Review _ "When I first started to look into Concrete Driveway Sealant, I thought I would do the usual and head to one of the local home improvement stores near home. But, I investigated first on the internet to find out what they offered. Then I dug deeper and deeper into companies online, to where I finally got to the point, I didn't know what kind to order. 'Radon Seal' was one of those websites I checked out. But, I still wasn't sure. After I checked into all the sealants I could find, I found myself more and more, going back to Radon Seal site. I'm happy I did. First, I ordered the Sample Bottle of 'LastiSeal'. I tried it out in Desert Sand. That shade looked very natural. So, I took a chance and ordered a 5 gal and 1 gal bottle to put down on our 975 square foot driveway. I even had the rest of the sample bottle to use with them. My next door neighbor happens to be a contractor, and I paid him to spray it down, since we were going out of town for a 50th Anniversary Mustang event for a few days. That way the driveway would be cured enough when we returned so I could park both cars in the garage. When we returned, he came out and greeted us, and thanked me for ordering the LastiSeal. Why? Like me, even though he is a contractor, he wasn't sure himself what sealer to trust. He said it was the BEST he ever used, and also liked how the Desert Sand shade gave the driveway a naturally aged look. I ordered directly from Radon Seal instead of an outside Online Store, for the reason it was a tad less because Radon has free shipping, and ordering directly from them gave me more confidence. The pictures don't do it justice. But, it amazes me how it has a balanced look, and the concrete still has that natural shade I was looking for, while blending in all the imperfections. We completed this kitchen renovation for a SW. Calgary couple and as you’ll see, it was a much needed update after their 20+ years in the home. Clearly the look of the cabinets needed to be brought up to date, but function was on the top of the list for this client. She enjoys cooking and often hosts several friends over for canning and other big cooking parties so countertop space was a priority. Seeing as they also host large family gatherings, the cook didn’t want to feel abandoned in the kitchen when everyone else was in the next room so opening up the space was crucial. Here is what we did to change the way this space works for them… We revised the layout of the appliances and cabinets and relocated the plumbing so she could look out the window while she stood at the sink. Taking the cabinets up to the ceiling also gave them more storage as does the large pantry next to the fridge. An island wouldn’t fit, so we added a peninsula which gave them a spot to sit to have their morning coffee and a significant amount of additional counter space. By removing the walls between the kitchen and dining room it eliminated a small hallway that separated the kitchen and dining room and allowed for an open concept in their 1960’s home. To add visual interest to the space and to define the dining room, we added a coffered celing. Now, typically a coffered ceiling is done when you have three or four walls to anchor it in. It was a bit of a risk to add a “floating” coffered ceiling! However, it turned out beautifully. It wasn’t without it issues but I’m glad we added this element as it wouldn’t have been as interesting with a typical flat ceiling. In the dining room, a buffet was added for additional storage as well as new drapery panels, lighting and furniture. The peacock blue end chairs are stunning! Without that punch of color the dining room just wouldn’t be as outstanding. They are so lovely and really pushed the client out of her comfort zone – but she loves them and is glad she trusted us with that design decision. The result is a much more usable space that is also classic in style and just darn pretty to look at and be in! After our homeowner’s experience with our design process she asked us to help her with her bathrooms! She trusted us and didn’t want to try to find anyone else. We went with a budget friendly vanity in a polar white color. Next, we found two gorgeous remnant pieces of Cristallo Quartzite and we assisted in finding the right tiles to accomplish her vision!

As written in Northern Home & Cottage by Elizabeth Edwards Sara and Paul Matthews call their head-turning home, located in a sweet neighborhood just up the hill from downtown Petoskey, “a very human story.” Indeed it is. Sara and her husband, Paul, have a special-needs son as well as an energetic middle-school daughter. This home has an answer for everyone. Located down the street from the school, it is ideally situated for their daughter and a self-contained apartment off the great room accommodates all their son’s needs while giving his caretakers privacy—and the family theirs. The Matthews began the building process by taking their thoughts and needs to Stephanie Baldwin and her team at Edgewater Design Group. Beyond the above considerations, they wanted their new home to be low maintenance and to stand out architecturally, “But not so much that anyone would complain that it didn’t work in our neighborhood,” says Sara. “We were thrilled that Edgewater listened to us and were able to give us a unique-looking house that is meeting all our needs.” Lombardy LLC built this handsome home with Paul working alongside the construction crew throughout the project. The low maintenance exterior is a cutting-edge blend of stacked stone, black corrugated steel, black framed windows and Douglas fir soffits—elements that add up to an organic contemporary look. The use of black steel, including interior beams and the staircase system, lend an industrial vibe that is courtesy of the Matthews’ friend Dan Mello of Trimet Industries in Traverse City. The couple first met Dan, a metal fabricator, a number of years ago, right around the time they found out that their then two-year-old son would never be able to walk. After the couple explained to Dan that they couldn’t find a solution for a child who wasn’t big enough for a wheelchair, he designed a comfortable, rolling chair that was just perfect. They still use it. The couple’s gratitude for the chair resulted in a trusting relationship with Dan, so it was natural for them to welcome his talents into their home-building process. A maple floor finished to bring out all of its color-tones envelops the room in warmth. Alder doors and trim and a Doug fir ceiling reflect that warmth. Clearstory windows and floor-to-ceiling window banks fill the space with light—and with views of the spacious grounds that will become a canvas for Paul, a retired landscaper. The couple’s vibrant art pieces play off against modernist furniture and lighting that is due to an inspired collaboration between Sara and interior designer Kelly Paulsen. “She was absolutely instrumental to the project,” Sara says. “I went through two designers before I finally found Kelly.” The open clean-lined kitchen, butler’s pantry outfitted with a beverage center and Miele coffee machine (that allows guests to wait on themselves when Sara is cooking), and an outdoor room that centers around a wood-burning fireplace, all make for easy, fabulous entertaining. A den just off the great room houses the big-screen television and Sara’s loom— making for relaxing evenings of weaving, game watching and togetherness. This project has become our most famous installation—a stunning 33-foot curved stair-slide combination built entirely from solid black walnut, featuring 445 layers of cross-laminated hardwood and a spiral newel post that took eight months to construct in our shop. The homeowners had searched for eight years to find someone “crazy enough” to build their dream. When we completed it, one of Clyde’s trusted business partners—someone who’d seen him tackle countless unique projects—admitted he thought Clyde had lost his mind taking this one on. He genuinely didn’t believe we could pull it off. We did. And the homeowners? Still thrilled years later. Where Imagination Meets Reality But these slides aren’t just for private estates. We’ve installed a 24-foot hickory slide in an elementary school library just east of Dallas, where kids absolutely love it. And here’s something that will make you smile: We built the longest wood slide ever for a children’s hospital in Springfield, Illinois. Have you ever heard a child beg to go to the doctor? We’re pretty sure it happens in Springfield. That walnut slide stretches 45 feet long and 3 feet wide—spacious enough for three children to sit side-by-side or for an adult and child to slide together comfortably. We built it in one piece, filling an entire semi-trailer for transport. It lives in the hospital lobby, and no appointment is needed to experience it yourself. In Raleigh, North Carolina, we installed a 36-foot white oak slide in a custom home. The client loved it so much they ordered a second one—literally 15 minutes after we finished the installation. When Clyde returned to the office, there was already a check in the mailbox for slide number two. This 14,000-square-foot home now features 72 linear feet of curved white oak slide: one connecting the second floor to the main level, another linking the main floor to the finished basement. What a ride, indeed. Then there’s the curved stair-slide combination in Visalia, California—32 feet of knotty alder complemented by a hanging netted loft and climbing wall. Creative? Absolutely. Fun? This true mid-century modern home was ready to be revived. The home was built in 1959 and lost its character throughout the various remodels over the years. Our clients came to us trusting that with our help, they could love their home again. This design is full of clean lines, yet remains playful and organic. The first steps in the kitchen were removing the soffit above the previous cabinets and reworking the cabinet layout. They didn't have an island before and the hood was in the middle of the room. They gained so much storage in the same square footage of kitchen. We started by incorporating custom flat slab walnut cabinetry throughout the home. We lightened up the rooms with bright white countertops and gave the kitchen a 3-dimensional emerald green backsplash tile. In the hall bathroom, we chose a penny round floor tile, a terrazzo tile installed in a grid pattern from floor-to-ceiling behind the floating vanity. The hexagon mirror and asymmetrical pendant light are unforgettable. We finished it with a frameless glass panel in the shower and crisp, white tile. In the master bath, we chose a wall-mounted faucet, a full wall of glass tile which runs directly into the shower niche and a geometric floor tile. Our clients can't believe this is the same home and they feel so lucky to be able to enjoy it every day.
