This functional, light-filled home takes full advantage of its bucolic site. With the introduction of the butterfly roof, natural light, ventilation and views are brought into the main gathering spaces. Distance between the private and public zones is created by a shift in geometry where those two meet in plan, to provide a calming and rejuvenating private retreat for the occupants. The structured juxtaposition of materials brings order and warmth to the home’s overall experience, complementing the textures and beauty of the site.

My team took a fresh approach to traditional style in this home. Inspired by fresh cut blossoms and a crisp palette, we transformed the space with airy elegance. Exquisite natural stones and antique silhouettes coupled with chalky white hues created an understated elegance as romantic as a love poem.

The wall and doorway came down between the kitchen and dining room. A prep space and seating were created at the new peninsula.
By bumping the exterior wall into the dining room, it allowed for symmetrical space on both sides of the window.

A live edge dining table is the focal point of this room, which also features a wall of aquariums.

This living area was transformed into a show-stopping piano room, for a modern-minded family. The sleek lacquer black of the piano is a perfect contrast to the bright turquoise, chartreuse and white of the artwork, fabrics, lighting and area rug.

The residence overlooks a nature reserve, making the backyard a private oasis that is fully embraced with three covered porches and 50 linear feet of glass, which is about 65% of the back of the home, mostly expressed as stacking sliding doors. All three backyard lanais have painted white, vaulted, nickel joint ceilings. The lanai next to the kitchen was made for entertaining and features a lounge with a linear gas fireplace and a television, a dining area, summer kitchen, pool bath and an outdoor shower. Integrated, remote-controlled bug screens were added to the lanais for a pleasant indoor/outdoor experience.

Before renovating, this bright and airy family kitchen was small, cramped and dark. The dining room was being used for spillover storage, and there was hardly room for two cooks in the kitchen. By knocking out the wall separating the two rooms, we created a large kitchen space with plenty of storage, space for cooking and baking, and a gathering table for kids and family friends. The dark navy blue cabinets set apart the area for baking, with a deep, bright counter for cooling racks, a tiled niche for the mixer, and pantries dedicated to baking supplies. The space next to the beverage center was used to create a beautiful eat-in dining area with an over-sized pendant and provided a stunning focal point visible from the front entry. Touches of brass and iron are sprinkled throughout and tie the entire room together.
