Great room - large coastal marble floor great room idea in San Diego with white walls and no fireplace

A striking island occupies the center of a spacious kitchen in Bloomfield Hills. The HPL backed real wood veneer in Ebony Sabbiata from Tree Frog bridges the tonal distance between the walnut floors and all white cabinets and walls, creating harmony and visual balance. Full height backsplashes in shiny white are laid out in a windmill pattern, punctuated every so often with intricately designed accent squares. A combination of bold veining and delicate blooming on the Calacatta quartzite countertops contributes its subtle energy to the mix. The kitchen is separated into several independent vignettes, each one laid out symmetrically. The vast island with built in sink offers all the prep space a chef could need. The built in cooktop is centered directly behind to facilitate easy cooking, while an additional sink in the clean up area expedites after dinner chores. A walk-pantry and small home office are tucked in behind the refrigerator freezer wall. Multiple lighting details, including lighted cabinet interiors and a lighted display niche above the refrigerator, complete this stunning 2015 lake home.

The large great room is open to the kitchen and is flooded with light from the large transom windows. Wall color is Sherwin Williams SW#7030 Anew Gray, flooring is Mannington 5 Inch American Oak Engineered 'Bark'.

We originally remodeled this 1939 Preston Hollow home in 2004, but after 15 years it needed a bit of an aesthetic update for our homeowners. Enter our Revive process. We take a kitchen (or bathroom) where the overall layout is already functional, but it still seems to be looking dated. We bring it back to life with new colors and some materials to really amp up the look.
The homeowners wanted a "lighter and brighter" space which we achieved by painting the perimeter cabinets a crisp grey/white color and having 2cm Bianco Carrara Honed Marble counter installed on the perimeter as well as a majority of the splash. We did remove one open shelf cabinet and installed floating shelves in its place to create a fun accent wall. There we installed Handmade 8×8 Cement Tiles in Laurent Gray from Renaissance Tile.

Dinner time brings people together. Design your own space for happy memories with dining tables that come in different sizes, shapes, and colors and fill the room with comfortable chairs, cool sideboards and your favorite people.

We created an open concept kitchen with keeping room from a closed off kitchen with tight layout. The oversized island comfortably seats 5 in an L-shaped arrangement. The white shaker style cabinets have a rustic, yet refined farmhouse look that is accentuated by the gorgeous oiled wood counter top. Ample island storage with specialized pull-outs, deep drawers and classic pulls make the island the heart of this home. The chef grade gas cooktop is crowned with a beautiful custom hood with vent insert and roman style brick wall tile with a herringbone pattern accent. The granite counters along the L-shaped outer walls blends the dark and light tones found through the home. A shiny metal farmhouse sink with dimpled texture is centered on the window overlooking the courtyard garden. Unique storage features such as a pull-out recycling center, pet food drawer, coffee station, recessed bread box / appliance garage, spice columns and plastic wrap pull-out provide ease of use and an organizers dream come true. A hidden walk-in pantry is seamlessly integrated into the cabinetry providing a secret reservoir of storage potential. Daylight floods the space and spills into the adjacent family room and formal dining room. Entertaining is easy in this clean crisp new kitchen redesigned for large family gatherings and intimate dinners at home. Photos By: Kimberly Kerl, Kustom Home Design

After the devastating Tubbs fire, Craig reimagined this Calistoga property into a wine country retreat for the owners' family as well as corporate/wellness guests. He approached the design by studying the natural elements of the site including trees, views and light, the vernacular design of the area and the clients’ personality. Craig designed a barn and the house – made up of a one-story and a two-story building – connected by a stunning 20-foot steel and glass breezeway. Expansive doors and windows create seamless indoor/outdoor flow and numerous patios and the pool area provide comfortable outdoor spaces. The modern and warm interior is bright, luxurious and comfortable.

This 80 year old farm house was in need of an update. The kitchen and dining areas were cramped, dark and isolated from one another. The homeowner requested an open floor plan with more storage and space where her children could play while she was busy in the kitchen.
Thompson Remodeling flipped the existing positions of the dining room and kitchen and removed walls to open up the space. The new kitchen has bright white cabinets, quartz countertops and an island with a butcher block counter. A custom banquette provides seating and a spot for the kids to play and do homework while its bench doubles as hidden storage. The wet bar in the dining space has loads of pantry space.
The existing floors were very uneven, so we used a vinyl plank flooring that would allow more give for installation. It looks just like weathered pine and will offer very easy care for the busy family.

At this angle, the unique shapes of the ceiling, trimming, and cabinets really stand out.
