Within a modernist house nestled in the hills, a family of five wanted to create a minimalist home to suit their casual, indoor/outdoor lifestyle. Our clients for this project, who have discerning tastes, but also love to have fun, collaborated with us on every detail. Everything in the home contains meaning, from the typographic artwork in the dining room that spells out “family” in logos, to graphics calling out the ownership of lockers in the mudroom, to the surfboards that line the stairwell like functional artwork. All-white walls allow these details to take center stage, while Fleetwood doors slide open to usher the outdoors in and continuous concrete flooring unifies the indoor and outdoor spaces. Italian cabinetry, an opaque glass accent wall and an internal garage door that rolls up to reveal an industrial workout room complement the contemporary architecture, while in other spaces reclaimed barnwood and retro tiles provide a playful sense of contrast.

This home, located in a historic area of Dallas, was an opportunity to satisfy a client with very discerning taste. To suit his level of entertaining, he desired a sophisticated, old NY lounge style, powder room for guests. The bathroom was completely gutted except for the 48” tall wainscoting that remains an important element of the room’s ambiance. The stall shower in the room was removed and the commode relocated in its place, out of the direct line of vision. All fixtures are custom pieces, including a vanity with semi-precious stone counter. Exquisite custom Sherle Wagner fixtures were selected for the sink and faucet along with the vanity drawer pulls, towel ring, toilet paper holder and grab bar. A burled wood, antique-inspired accent table beautifully complements the custom upholstered chair. The outdoor area is decadent with lots of amenities. Travertine flooring, A/C and heated pool cabana boasts a custom onyx underlit table and folding glass doors, outdoor glass rock fireplace ensures the beautiful light stucco does not get dirty from wood burning. It’s the perfect spot for lounging! The lap pool is specially designed with a resistance pump for swimming in backyard with a limited pool space.

Example of a classic home design design in Houston

This was a challenging project for very discerning clients. The home was originally owned by the client’s father, and she inherited it when he passed. Care was taken to preserve the history in the home while upgrading it for the current owners. This home exceeds current energy codes, and all mechanical and electrical systems have been completely replaced. The clients remained in the home for the duration of the reno, so it was completed in two phases. Phase 1 involved gutting the basement, removing all asbestos containing materials (flooring, plaster), and replacing all mechanical and electrical systems, new spray foam insulation, and complete new finishing. The clients lived upstairs while we did the basement, and in the basement while we did the main floor. They left on a vacation while we did the asbestos work. Phase 2 involved a rock retaining wall on the rear of the property that required a lengthy approval process including municipal, fisheries, First Nations, and environmental authorities. The home had a new rear covered deck, garage, new roofline, all new interior and exterior finishing, new mechanical and electrical systems, new insulation and drywall. 24' x 40' Modern Farm Timber Frame Farmhouse. We designed and built this 2,000s.f. timber frame house for a discerning client on Chebeague Island in Maine. Our innovative structural design accommodates a no-compromise approach to the well-articulated living spaces. The timber frame is a high-posted cape with ridge pole, fashioned from native Hemlock timbers, sanded and oiled. The unique slip-joint cross-ties tame the cathedral ceiling on the second floor and create an attic storage loft above. This design incorporates a wrap-around porch.

Upscale Townhouse had large master bath that was decently equipped, but dated and worn out. The stained shower and beat up vanity cabinets were not up to this discerning owner's standards. The owner wanted something unique. A Japanese style soaking tub with a custom stone and tile base is the center piece. The expansive dark wood vanity is flanked by open shelf towers, that frame a large mirrored medicine cabinet hidden in a wall of custom plate glass mirrors. Unique and stunning!

The Home The Polaris is about coming home. The homeowner is a United States Air Force Academy alumnus and his family, who found the perfect location to overlook his alma mater. This home is built for today and tomorrow, with elevator and ADA access. As you enter, sweeping Air Force Academy views greet you. The living area boasts a stunning fireplace wall, a crush-worthy kitchen and pantry and a lovely dining area. The mud room flows seamlessly into the master closet and kitchen. Along the way, a stop at the wine fridge is a nice perk. The office and second bedroom offer plenty of space for work and guests.
