Epic’s goal was to transform a dark and dated kitchen into a spacious, modern hub for everyday life and family gatherings. Functionality and flow were top priorities. The clients needed more storage, better circulation, and designated zones for cooking, dining, and relaxing—all within a unified, open plan. To achieve these goals, Epic reconfigured the layout to maximize openness and natural light. A large custom island was created to anchor the space, providing additional storage, casual seating, and room for the new cooktop. The appliance wall housed everything from a column fridge and freezer to a double oven and a wine cooler, featuring an integrated corner "appliance garage" that concealed the toaster, blender, and other countertop items. A standout solution was the custom floating ceiling above the island. It allowed for proper ducting while eliminating the need for a bulky stainless hood, often a visual disruption in open-plan spaces. Instead, a light walnut surround was created for the hood, offering a sculptural, integrated focal point.

Ground up construction of pool house and pool tucked within a century old Olmstead landscape design overlooking the coast of Massachusetts’ north shore. Our client—a designer herself—came to us with a clear vision: she wanted a lighter, brighter kitchen with more functional storage and a larger island for seating that wouldn’t disrupt the flow of the space. From our first meeting, I knew we were going to build something special together!

This Columbia, Maryland primary bedroom was designed as a calm, luminous retreat anchored in warmth and refined simplicity. A grey tufted velvet headboard, crisp white bedding, neutral throw, and sculptural branch wall art create a serene yet visually rich primary bedroom design. White lacquer nightstands with brass hardware, gold column lamps, and a sunburst mirror styled with vibrant yellow florals add warmth and personality without disrupting the room's peaceful energy, a Maryland bedroom design that feels like waking up in a boutique hotel every single day.

Kitchen Deep Dive: Designed for Flow In this Nokesville kitchen, every cabinetry decision began with space planning. We carefully evaluated workflow, sightlines, and proportion to create a layout that feels open — yet grounded. The perimeter cabinetry features Medallion Cabinetry in Maple with Potter’s Mill Reverse Raised Panel doors, finished in Sea Salt with a Graphite Dry Brush. The softer perimeter tone keeps the room feeling light and expansive while allowing architectural details to stand out subtly. To anchor the space, we designed the island and hood in Knotty Alder, using the same door style but finished in Dockside stain. The warmth and texture of the wood create contrast and depth — drawing the eye inward and establishing the island as a natural gathering point. Maintaining consistent door styling throughout ensures visual cohesion, while the material and finish contrast introduces dimension without disrupting flow. Thoughtful proportion. The statement-making custom range hood commands the cooking wall, flanked by stacked glass-front upper cabinets that showcase colorful ceramics as living decor. Behind the professional-grade gas range, a layered backsplash tells a tile story: classic white subway tile anchors the field, while a striking marble herringbone mosaic creates a focal tile mural directly behind the hood — a detail that reads as pure artistry. A wall-mounted pot filler in polished nickel adds both practicality and old-world charm. Three oversized geometric polished nickel pendant lanterns hang from the tray ceiling, drawing the eye up while flooding the space with ambient light. The kitchen flows seamlessly into a sun-drenched breakfast room wrapped in plantation shutters and blue-and-white toile valances, where a warm wood round dining table grounds the casual dining area. A dedicated butler's pantry niche off the main kitchen provides an integrated wine cooler, glass-front display cabinetry, a herringbone marble backsplash, and a dedicated coffee station — a self-contained entertaining hub that keeps the main kitchen surfaces clear and serene.

As an avid cook, this homeowner wanted to upgrade the existing apartment-sized appliances and improve the functionality of cabinets and the countertop space to support his chef skills and daily use. We readdressed the kitchen back wall, updating the range and sink and refreshing the overall aesthetic. A stunning black Ann Saks accent tile provides a dramatic focal point and complements the sophisticated waterfall edge island countertop. We installed a microwave drawer and additional storage in the island without disrupting the prominent stone edge detail. Other changes included the integration of a reverse osmosis water system and transitioning from an induction to a gas heat source.

Welcome to our Perfectly Polished Kitchen. For this Camarillo homeowner, the kitchen no longer fit the way they lived. The original layout felt dated and disconnected, with walls separating the kitchen from the living room and an island oriented toward the backyard. Hosting felt divided, and awkward walkways disrupted the flow of the home. The goal was to create a kitchen centered around connection and everyday functionality. We opened the walls between the kitchen and living room and reoriented the island to face the main living space. By relocating a Blanco farmhouse sink to the island and adding bar seating, the kitchen is now a natural gathering place. Family and guests can stay connected while meals are prepared on a 48-inch range with an integrated griddle. The former range wall was transformed into a dedicated coffee and cocktail bar with a flush integrated MicroDrawer, adding convenience without sacrificing the clean aesthetic. Waterfall-edge quartz countertops, glazed grey blue Bedrosians tile, integrated refrigerator and freezer columns, premium Ferguson plumbing fixtures, and custom cabinetry create a timeless foundation. Warm wood tones from the island, wide-plank oak flooring, and custom rift-cut white oak range hood balance the polished nickel finishes for a look that feels both inviting and refined. The result is a timeless kitchen tailored to this homeowner’s minimalist lifestyle. Open, functional, and perfectly polished, it brings family and guests together while blending clean lines and everyday practicality.

My clients approached this kitchen remodel hoping not only for improved functionality but for a space that invited comfort, warmth, and daily enjoyment. Their existing kitchen was limited in both layout and atmosphere where a small island barely larger than a podium offered little utility. An oversized double-width doorway at the rear of the room leading into the adjacent living space disrupted the flow, making furniture placement nearly impossible. They longed for a kitchen where cooking felt easy and intuitive, but also one where they could sit at the table with a book and a cup of tea, or host friends without feeling cramped or awkwardly positioned. One of the most impactful decisions we made early on was to close off that extra-wide opening to the living room. Doing so allowed us to reclaim the wall, which not only improved circulation but also gave us the freedom to rethink the spacing of the kitchen and eat-in area. With that change, we could introduce a much larger island—truly functional this time—complete with generous workspace and storage. It became a true centerpiece for meal prep, casual dining, and gathering. From there I turned my attention to layering in comfort, personality, and style. I curated a color palette of soft white, pale blue, light wood tones, and touches of sunshine yellow. This fresh and uplifting combination feels timeless and relaxed. We chose cabinetry with traditional Shaker-style doors, accented by black forged iron hardware for a subtle hint of contrast and authenticity. For the countertops we chose a Gold Calacatta-look quartz, bringing elegance and warmth with its soft veining and classic appeal. To elevate the kitchen walls I selected a soft matte glass tile in a moody, sky-blue that blankets the backsplash, providing a gentle wash of color that’s calming and cohesive. On the floors I chose a limestone-look porcelain tile in a classic Versailles pattern as an homage to old English manor houses—bringing character and texture underfoot while remaining durable and low-maintenance for modern life. Lastly I transformed the adjacent eat-in area into a cozy, multifunctional space. We added custom built-in bookshelves and a sideboard for serving and display—perfect for entertaining or simply making daily routines feel more special. A black iron picture light softly illuminates the buffet, lending a warm, ambient glow in the evenings. I carefully planned the seating arrangement to include a space-saving banquette along the wall, paired with a trestle-style dining table and side chairs. At either end I placed tufted host chairs upholstered in an exquisite, tonal Chinoiserie dragon pattern that are comfortable enough to sit on for hours. Whether sharing a leisurely meal, reading in the sunlight, or gazing out at the greenery just beyond the windows, this spot now invites my clients to truly enjoy their home in a new, deeper way.
