This Caviness project for a modern farmhouse design in a community-based neighborhood called The Prairie At Post in Oklahoma. This complete outdoor design includes a large swimming pool with waterfalls, an underground slide, stream bed, glass tiled spa and sun shelf, native Oklahoma flagstone for patios, pathways and hand-cut stone retaining walls, lush mature landscaping and landscape lighting, a prairie grass embedded pathway design, embedded trampoline, all which overlook the farm pond and Oklahoma sky. This project was designed and installed by Caviness Landscape Design, Inc., a small locally-owned family boutique landscape design firm located in Arcadia, Oklahoma. A dramatic entry with brick piers and apron opening to an asphalt driveway, ending in a drive court detailed with a cushwa brick medallion inlay. The drive is lined with the same brick curb that pulls from the brick inlay above the great window at the homes entry. The apron is also trimmed with a soldier course of brick. The hedge is boxwood, underplanted with hosta and ground cover. The gardens in the background are filled with 'Tina' crabapple, Hydrangea, boxwood, and Pachysandra ground cover. An elegantly landscaped estate was designed to frame views, offer tranquility, and provide numerous spaces with a variety of experiences. Long, meandering bluestone paths interconnect formal garden spaces with natural woodlands. World-famous bronze sculpture provides personality to an otherwise pastoral place. Groundcovers of Pachysandra, Hosta, and Heuchera are planted en masse to firmly shape garden spaces. A stone wall retains the generous main bluestone terrace. Though it resides a half-mile from the water, the home is positioned perfectly to provide a captivating view of Lake Minnetonka. Over many years the evolution of this home and landscape has earned Windsor Companies numerous design awards from the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association and the American Society of Landscape Architects. This was a fun deck to build because of all the angles. I do not like to splice deck boards, so I designed a creative picture frame board in the center at an angle, then moved the stairs to make this deck look very unique. The decking we used was Timbertech’s PVC Capped Composite Decking in the Tropical Series – Antigua Gold, then accented with the Tropical Series – Redwood. The colors turned out sharp and the center picture frame board turned out exactly how I pictured it. We then installed a White Vinyl Fencing around a corner for privacy, then add Westbury’s Tuscany Series Railing in White. To keep the theme – we skirted the framing with White Royal Full PVC Trim as well as the stair risers. Last we built a wall below for a hidden storage. The decking design and colors turned out great and the homeowners love it. The homeowners were great to work with!

I have worked for many past years with this homeowner. This year they were ready for a new deck and design. The goals of this deck was to create useful outdoor living areas and minimize the amount of railing. Another goal was to be maintenance free with a possible roof addition later. We came up with a few designs and then chose one that had 2 levels. The upper level was designed for a future roof for next year to be built on for Summer Shade. The lower level was designed close to the ground without railing. Because of no rail – we did add some deck dot lights around the border so in the evening – you can see the edge of the deck for safety purposes. The product that was chosen was Timbertech’s PVC Capped Composite Decking in the Terrain Series. Colors were Brown Oak for the main and then accented with Rustic Elm. The railing was Westbury’s Full Aluminum Railing (Tuscany Series) in the black color. We then added lighting on all of the steps as well as on top of the picture frame border of the lower deck. This deck turned out great. This late Winter/Early Spring, we will be building a roof above – pictures to come after completion. Part 2 of this project we did in Spring of the next year. We built a new Roof over the main deck with an aluminum ceiling. This project turned out great and even matches the 3D Schematic!
