This completely remodeled Edwardian penthouse includes four bedrooms, an eat-in kitchen, and two full bathrooms. Bathroom and kitchen floors are heated for year round comfort. As the owner is a novelist, one of the bedrooms is used as a working library. To create a sense of serenity, the walls are covered in suede cloth from Jack Lenor Larsen. While keeping the exterior intact, this 815 square foot freestanding, Edwardian home was gutted and re-framed by Michael Merrill Design Studio to accommodate a clean, crisp, ultramodern design. Small and compact, the new layout widened the existing gallery while also making the residence's only closet more efficient and accessible. Barn doors help to accentuate the height of the residence's ceiling. The bathroom's entry was moved from the kitchen to the gallery. The details help to make the bathroom, which is just over 50 square feet, feel quite spacious. Regan Baker Design was hired in conjunction with John Lum Architects to update this beautiful edwardian in the Castro, San Francisco. The couple who work for both Pixar and Apple, enjoy color, something that Regan Baker Design really enjoys as well. The kitchen, once closed off by a peninsula island, was removed to open to the living room creating a more open floor plan. Open shelves help open up the room as well, while also creating architecture and interest to a rather tall kitchen. Once an under stair closet, the guest bathroom's custom walnut vanity provides storage for every day necessities, while the tiled walls bring interest to a rather small white bathroom. One accent glass tile wall continues the splash of blue color palette throughout the house. Finish and fixture selections were paired with a few statement pieces including the oversized Flos pendant over the island, the Roche Bobois sofa in multi-color and the client's existing teal round slipper chair, purchased from the ever famed Judge Judy. The nursery, designed around the client's grandmother's croched character stuffed animals and the ever so cute cloud smiley face rug, was completed just in time before the birth of their daughter. In this kitchen we updated the existing cabinetry with new Top Knobs Edwardian Lund Pulls & Knobs. A Distressed Medallion Designer Maple Island in Black Heirloom with caffe glaze was added to accent the room. Instead of a typical sink an undermount 4’ Galley workstation was installed. Accessories for the Galley included an upper tier cutting board, an 11” bowl, an 11” colander, 1 lower tier platform with cutout for bowl/colander, 1 lower tier platform and a galley drain rack. For the faucet, we installed a new Delta Pilar Single Handle Pull Down faucet with Touch 20 Technology in brushed nickel and a drinking water faucet. A new 3cm Cambria Quartz countertop in Canterbury color was installed. The backsplash is 4x4 San Mateo honed tumbled tile with San Mateo pencil molding and San Mateo 2x2 rope border behind the range accented with 1x1 Sonoma glass tiles in Hemp color.

A beautiful kitchen remodel in Amarillo featuring white cabinetry on the main walls and a dark wood island with curved edges. Oversized metal and glass lanterns hang over the island to enhance the natural light and recessed lighting overhead. The focal point of the kitchen is this custom designed zinc vent hood above the striking harlequin tile patterned backsplash. Other notable items include a Turbo Chef double oven, corner cabinets with open shelving, and a coordinating butler's pantry located adjacent to the main kitchen.
