It’s important to make sure that all trees on your property are healthy and in good condition. This means hiring professional tree trimming services to maintain your trees yearly in order to keep them looking beautiful and healthy. In late winter or early spring is the best time to trim your trees. Doing so will help to improve the new growth that happens later in the spring. But fruit bearing trees and damaged trees can benefit from careful pruning in the summer. It takes an expert to skillfully trim trees during the summer without damaging them or causing harm and our team at Five Star Tree Services is just a call away to help you with your tree trimming needs!
Why Trim Your Trees?
By trimming your trees annually, this will not only open up your landscaping, which allows more sunlight to get to your property, but there are many other benefits.
These can include:
-Keep Trees Healthy and Promote Growth
When you trim your trees in the spring, before they start producing buds, this helps to stimulate more new growth, which helps to keep trees in excellent condition. This can be especially important for saplings as it encourages them to fill out nicely and in a controlled and structurally sound way. If you are not maintaining your trees properly, they can become too dense, which causes a bunch of problems. One being that it restricts the amount of sunlight getting to all the leaves and it reduces the amount of nutrient circulation needed to support the tree.
Professional tree pruning properly aids in tree growth and its overall aesthetic. Cutting off unneeded or unwanted branches allows other parts of the tree to grow easier. Ridding the tree of these extra branches also stimulates more leaf and fruit production.
-Increased Safety
Your landscape is affected when you neglect to take care of your trees, along with everything else on your property. If you have any dead trees remaining on your property, not only are you putting yourself at risk of injury, but you are putting your family, neighbours, pedestrians, and guests at risk as well. Dead or damaged branches can also be a hazard as they could fall at any time and impact with anyone standing too close to it, or it can fall on your house, which is another issue altogether, if it causes damage. Luckily, you are able to avoid all of this by simply having regular trimmings that will keep your trees healthy. You also need to make sure that all branches close to power lines are cut. This especially, should only be done by a trained professional in order to avoid potential electrocution.
-Increase Production of Fruit
If you are lucky enough to have a fruit bearing tree, it is especially important to have it professionally trimmed before and after it fruits. Doing so helps to improve its overall health and ability to bear fruit by getting rid of unhealthy branches. New fruit also develops and spurs for bearing fruit for the following year.
-Manage Spreading Diseases
Tree branches that are damaged tend to be prone to diseases which are able to spread to other plants and trees in your yard. Branches that are dead also have the potential to easily fall with any wind and especially during a storm. Severely damaged branches can even fall without reason. When you get your trees trimmed and pruned regularly, this prevents these things from happening. It also prevents spreading disease to other trees. Any disease branches should especially be trimmed if they are close to where kids play, people walk, or by doors.
-Increase the Value of Your Property and Overall Appearance
Continuous maintenance and trilling will improve the aesthetic of your property. It controls clutter and opens up the space of the landscaping. Meaning that the curbside appeal to your property increases. This is especially important if you are planning to sell your house, which will actually raise the value of your property. The first step in enhancing the appearance of your property is properly taking care of your trees. The first thing people see when they pull up to or go past your house is the trees. By simply pruning your trees you can make a good impression on potential buyers and your neighbours as well.
-Safeguarding Your Property
Owning a house is the biggest investment you will probably ever make. Making the effort to maintain and increase its value by keeping it in good condition should be your first priority. By trimming your trees regularly, you will be protecting your investment. Not to mention this also allows you to enjoy a nicely manicured property.
Why Professionals Are Essential
Professionals help to improve the health and overall condition of your trees. Trying to trim or prune your trees when you don’t know how can be detrimental. This is why hiring a professional, who has the right knowledge and tools, is better than trying to do it yourself.
-Cost-Effective
Think of it as a short-term expense for a long-term return on your investment. Allowing professional arborists to do your tree maintenance can potentially help to negate the costs of injuries attained from DIY home improvements related to trees, replacements and repairs.
-Skilled and Experienced
Real tools required for trimming a tree need to be handled properly and by the appropriate people. If a regular person were to try and use these tools, the end result could be injury and property damage. This is especially true for any trimming required around power lines. All professionals will have the right experience and skills required to wield these tools in a safe way. This minimizes the likelihood of hazards, injuries, and life-threatening incidents.
-Proper Tools
Heavy-duty chainsaws, ladders, and protective gear are all needed to safely and properly trim a tree. When you hire a professional, they have all the required tools and more. Meaning that you won’t have to go out and buy these tools yourself. As a professional, they also make sure that their tools are reliable and well-maintained in order to efficiently get the job done well.
-Insured
Professionals are also always insured with liability insurance when doing jobs to cover any damages or injuries attained while working. They are able to also provide a guarantee for the safety of your property and belongings while they are doing a job for you.

Kowalske Kitchen & Bath was hired as the remodeling contractor for this first floor remodel in the countryside of Oconomowoc, WI. By opening the kitchen up to the living room, the layout is better for hosting family gatherings. The entire family can be together in the kitchen and living room – cooking or spending time together. Highlights of this country kitchen include a window seat, walk-in pantry and space for their treasured piano.
Project Goals
+ Restore the beauty of their family home, that was built by the homeowner’s grandfather
+ Cooking functionality for their family farm
+ Add a workstation sink for easy food prep
+ Pantry storage space for canned items & wine collection
+ Design that honors the mid-century ranch bones of the house her grandfather built and their own traditional style
Challenges & Issues
+ Needed space to highlight their piano, since the homeowner is an avid pianist
+ Old layout didn’t have good views of their outdoor space – the lake, gardens and chicken coop
+ Kitchen was too small and cut off from the rest of the home
+ The heat and air conditioning did not function well due to several past additions
Country Kitchen Features:
Cooking Kitchen – We created a larger kitchen by expanding into the old dining room. The homeowners needed more space for canning vegetables, cooking and entertaining.
Mid-Century Country Design – The ranch home was built in the 1950s so we kept the mid-century and country kitchen design aesthetic by using hickory wood, tall verticals and long horizontals.
Kitchen Window Seat – A custom window seat with a curved backrest creates a gathering spot in the kitchen. This connects the home to the outdoor view of the lake where the family fishes and ice skates in winter. The bench is large enough to be used as a guest bed when they have visitors. The cozy nook has shelving, art lights, and a hidden radiator underneath to keep it warm and toasty.
Window Backsplash – Along the range wall, a new window backsplash features the beautiful view of the farm driveway, trees and gardens.
Minimalistic Hood – The hood with the wood shelf mimics the new fireplace mantel and ties the country kitchen and living room together.
New Pantry – The old kitchen area was converted into the new pantry and a laundry room. The pantry is their working kitchen where they can store food, their wine collection, and have countertop space for small appliances. Butcher block countertops, colorful wallpaper and a new window make the pantry inviting. Adjustable shelves allow for flexible storage options. The pocket door can be closed when they have guests.
Recycled Ash Flooring in Kitchen – The homeowners chose an eco-friendly flooring for their country kitchen. The beautiful varied width wood planks are from recycled ash trees from Milwaukee parks.
Workstation Sink – This sink has sliding platforms that hold bowls, colanders and cutting boards to multiply the countertop by going deep instead of wide. The sink can be used to chop, rinse, prep, dry dishes, hold hot dishes and clean up after a meal more efficiently.
Country House Living Room:
New Tile Floor – To better conduct the heat, we replaced the old wood floors with porcelain tile. New radiators, insulation, ductwork, and enclosing the basement staircase improved the function of their HVAC.
Fireplace Makeover – To create a new focal point for the living room, we installed a new fire box, new mantle, and floor to ceiling stone. The goal was to draw the eye up to the vaulted beamed ceiling.
Open Concept Layout – The wall between the kitchen and living room was removed to connect the two spaces. We added new cabinetry along the wall with a tall bookcase. Since they didn’t use their formal dining room, a small dining table was added to the living room.
New Railing & Stairs – The staircase to the kitchen area was tricky because we needed to find a style that would make it feel airy. We did a glass enclosure with a simple metal railing and moved the staircase to the center of the room to allow room for the piano.

Elegant Oasis: Maximizing Entertaining Space
In reimagining this 14,233 sqft lot, the goal was to create a high-impact, space-efficient outdoor environment, where space meets sophistication for unrivaled outdoor entertaining.
This presentation outlines the thoughtfully designed elements which were meticulously integrated to maximize entertaining space within the constraints of the property.
The project commenced with relocating the pool to the furthest reaches of the property, respecting property line setbacks to amplify the area available for entertainment. Adjacent to the back door, a covered built-in kitchen and intimate seating area offer protection from both bugs and the scorching afternoon sun, thanks to a convenient drop-down screen.
The 18'x36' pool serves as the focal point, backed by an 18" masonry wall adorned with LED lighting accents. Behind this backdrop, a hedge of long-blooming hydrangeas and espalier-shaped European hornbeams complements the formal design, infusing the space with timeless elegance.
The pool deck features a sturdy 5" rebar-reinforced concrete overlay with Valders Dove White and gray stone laid in a herringbone pattern (5'x18" pieces). To address stormwater retention, a large drywell behind the pool was repurposed as the base for a putting green, encircled by permeable gravel and stone coping. Landscape lighting makes it perfect for endless fun, day and night.
To minimize the “fence feeling” and to distinguish the detached garage driveway, a grand outdoor fireplace and wall were constructed. This space also includes an outdoor TV and speaker system. A pergola, built from large steel I-beams and cedar, provides respite from the summer sun.
For continuity and aesthetic impact, the hydrangea hedge extends the entire length of the property, maximizing the use of the narrow 36" side.
The front of the property is equally striking. A heated concrete driveway, saw-cut into 5'x5' squares, provides a grand entrance. The front porch and walkway feature heated, randomly patterned bluestone, expertly set on a concrete sub-base. Two sets of garden walls enclose the front yard, with the closest to the front door boasting three water scuppers and a pondless waterfall system, creating a captivating ambiance for arriving guests.
The property's front and rear areas are adorned with various planting beds and containers, which are seasonally adapted to ensure a vibrant landscape year-round.
Formal, columnar trees, such as slender silhouette sweetgum, columnar tulip trees, sheared European hornbeams, and shaped tricolor beech, were chosen to harmonize with the property's architecture. Crushed blue granite gravel was used to cover all planting beds, maintaining a clean and low-maintenance appearance.
In conclusion, our project has not only met but exceeded our client's expectations by delivering a low-maintenance, high-impact, and space-efficient outdoor haven.

The owners wanted a unique bathroom that would complement their beautiful, one of a kind, modern residence. Olympic Grey marble from Turkey was selected. This was a renovation so we were particularly careful in handling and installation.
There were many challenges to the project. First, the material is quite specific in its veining so we needed to make a mock up to determine how to cut the slabs in a way that would allow the vein to follow around the room (in and out of niches). We were working with a finite amount of material, 14 slabs, so we needed to design and engineer the project accordingly. In addition, the client wanted to maximize efficiency for cost control so we designed the seam placement to fall strategically (behind the toilet, for example) so that he would not need to purchase additional material. The bathroom is actually quite small so there were significant constraints in trying to fit and maneuver the large panels in tight spaces.
The vanity countertop was made in Pental Quartz Thassos Polished 1-1/4”. We carved channels in the vanity top to insert Troca Mother of Pearl Flat Liners. We followed this same detail at the Tub Apron.

This kitchen design in Okemos creates a stylish and efficient space with Diamond Distinctions maple cabinetry with coconut paint and a toasted almond glaze, paired with custom storage solutions. The cabinetry is accented by Jeffrey Alexander hardware and an ANA Granite countertop. It incorporates clever storage such as corner pie cut drawers, open storage shelves for books, and vertical tray dividers. A porcelain tile backsplash from Virginia Tile completes the space, along with the double bowl sink and Kohler faucet. A Wolf range top sits in the island, creating a cooking zone with adjacent food prep space, along with a GE Profile Advantium oven with a warming drawer.

The major kitchen renovation of this old country farmhouse was a task of love, one that had been planned for many years by these Barrington seasoned homeowners. After interviewing no less than five companies, the homeowners chose the design team at Advance Design Studio to make the transformation they had long planned for.
“They had an understanding of the right design for the space almost from the instant they walked in the room”, says Sharon Scott of the design team of Nicole Ryan at Todd Jurs at Advance Design Studio. “They were the only designers who laid out ideas in the first meeting at the house that we really loved”, she says. “It was obvious that they understood the house, and understood us - and from then on the decision to hire them literally made itself”.
The original kitchen had a dividing “wall” of cabinetry…that made the rather large space seem very small, and cut off the kitchen from the eating area that has a beautiful garden view completely hidden from the main kitchen. Circulation was poor, leaving family members on top of one another when entertaining family and friends.
The new kitchen design nearly doubles the kitchen size within the original space; opening it up completely and enjoying an expansive island containing a new Kohler Whitehaven Smart Divide farm sink, a dishwasher, and pull out double trash receptacle. The great new gathering space accommodates four pull out stools beckoning grandchildren and friends alike. Removing the range from the island and relocating it to create a dramatic “feature” wall, completely out of the way of guests; it is now crowned with a beautiful completely customized wood hood designed to ventilate much more efficiently than the original island range containing a limited downdraft system.
The much more efficient use of the space after removing a pantry closet made way for a fully functional “tall wall” housing a double oven and refrigerator, out of the way of guests. Removing the restrictive cabinetry wall now allowed for an expansive floor to ceiling pantry cabinet with full extension pull out shelving, and an elegant display area complete with a beautiful furniture detailed buffet.
Fitting perfectly into the farmhouse charm of the old estate, Medallion Silver Lancaster cabinetry was chosen in a soft white Maple Divinity paint finish lining the perimeter. The stunning island hints to this old home’s past with Medallion Gold’s Maple Devonshire style graced with a Carriage Black Heirloom painted finish. The rubbed off black paint finish reveals the soft wood tones beneath, mimicking furniture you’d see in your grandmother’s home that has lovingly been polished for years to reveal a soft, subtly rubbed-off sheen.
Counter tops reverse contrast with perimeter tops of black “Raven” granite possessing a subtle honed finish, and a shift to Quartz Difinity Viareggio - resembling white Carrera marble on the island. A simple herringbone detail completes the decorative range wall, and subtle porcelain subway tiles grace the backsplash throughout.
The design is finished off with crisp Thermador and Bosch stainless steel appliances, and bright brushed cup pull and handle combination hardware. A pull down Kohler Bellaria faucet makes cleanup a breeze, and soft under-cabinet LED lighting throughout makes every work surface shine softly, and highlights the cabinetry display area with grace.
One special detail was created to make the dramatic ceiling transition to a vaulted area above the breakfast nook extra special. A tongue and groove solid wood ceiling was hung above, and a subtle greenish-grey distressed paint finish was hand developed on site by the talented crew, complementing the new kitchen with a completely unique surface that appears as if it’s been there for many, many years. It’s just one standout feature in the amazing new space that is sure to be in every conversation as newcomers enjoy the newest best hangout in this old home renewed!
After 30 years of renovating homes, this now content homeowner sips a cup of tea enjoying her new garden view, and reminisces projects of past – and lastly reports their experience with Advance Design Studio culminating with their amazing new kitchen to be the most enjoyable and satisfying home experience yet.

This West Seattle kitchen remodel in the heart of the Admiral District is a thoughtfully designed kitchen renovation that balances craftsmanship, functionality, and timeless style. The project focused on maximizing workspace, improving appliance layout, and creating a warm, inviting aesthetic tailored to the homeowner’s lifestyle.
Custom cabinetry by Superior Cabinets showcases stunning rift-cut white oak with a custom stain on the lower cabinets, paired with painted white upper cabinetry for a clean, classic contrast. Sleek hardware and intentional storage solutions enhance both usability and visual appeal, while the expanded layout delivers significantly more countertop space for cooking and gathering.
Countertops were fabricated by Floform using Pental Quartz in the color Aura (polished)—a durable, elegant surface that brightens the space and complements the cabinetry. The backsplash features Bedrosian Tile Celine White gloss tile, paired with a handcrafted Motawi Deco tile accent that adds a unique focal point behind the induction cooktop.
Appliances were sourced from Albert Lee Appliance, featuring a combination of Bosch and GE appliances. The layout was carefully reconfigured to meet the client’s specific requests, including a wall oven positioned at an ergonomic height, an induction cooktop, and improved workflow throughout the kitchen. To further enhance functionality, an outdated hallway access was closed off, allowing for better use of wall space and cabinetry.
Lighting was a key design priority. The client specifically requested no recessed can lighting, so the space incorporates layered illumination using Rejuvenation Hardware fixtures and under-cabinet lighting. This approach creates a warm, inviting ambiance while maintaining excellent task lighting.
Finishing touches include Sherwin-Williams paint in a rich green tone that adds depth and character, Kohler sink and faucet fixtures for reliability and style, and updated Milgard windows that bring in natural light while improving energy efficiency.
The result is a highly functional, beautifully detailed kitchen that reflects the charm of West Seattle while delivering modern performance and thoughtful design.

Their modern approach to villa exterior and landscape design creates harmonious living environments that seamlessly blend indoor comfort with outdoor elegance, establishing new benchmarks for luxury residential architecture.
Architectural Excellence Through Modern Design
Antonovich Group's modern villa exteriors showcase a masterful understanding of contemporary aesthetics while maintaining timeless appeal. Their designs feature bold, clean lines and expansive glazing that create striking visual statements against carefully curated landscapes. Each project demonstrates how modern architecture can enhance rather than compete with its natural surroundings.
The key to their success lies in the thoughtful balance between dramatic architectural elements and refined details. Expansive terraces, geometric pools, and sculptural outdoor features create outdoor rooms that feel as luxurious and well-appointed as any interior space, establishing a new standard for modern luxury living.
Innovative Exterior Cladding Solutions
The sophistication of Antonovich Group's villa designs is particularly evident in their exterior cladding solutions, which combine premium materials with cutting-edge installation techniques. Their material palette includes natural stone, contemporary metals, and high-performance composites that not only create stunning visual impact but also ensure long-term durability in challenging climates.
These exterior cladding solutions go beyond mere aesthetics, incorporating thermal performance, weather resistance, and maintenance considerations into every selection. The result is facades that maintain their beauty while providing superior protection and energy efficiency. From sleek metal panels that create dramatic shadow play to warm natural stone that grounds the structure in its environment, each material choice serves both form and function.
Garden Landscape Design: Creating Outdoor Sanctuaries
The garden landscape design component of Antonovich Group's projects transforms outdoor spaces into sophisticated extensions of the villa's interior. Their approach to landscaping embraces both the architectural language of the building and the natural characteristics of the site, creating gardens that feel both designed and organic.
Strategic plantings create privacy screens and focal points while maintaining sight lines to key architectural features. Water elements, from reflecting pools to dynamic fountains, add movement and sound that enhance the sensory experience of the outdoor spaces. The garden landscape design incorporates both formal and naturalistic elements, creating varied experiences throughout the property while maintaining visual cohesion.
Sustainable Modern Luxury
Modern luxury doesn't mean abandoning environmental responsibility. Antonovich Group's designs incorporate sustainable practices throughout their exterior and landscape elements, from water-efficient irrigation systems to locally sourced materials that reduce environmental impact while supporting regional craftspeople and suppliers.
Their plant selections prioritize native and adaptive species that thrive with minimal intervention, while hardscape materials are chosen for longevity and low maintenance requirements. This approach ensures that these stunning properties remain beautiful and functional for decades while minimizing their environmental footprint.
The Complete Modern Lifestyle
What distinguishes Antonovich Group's work is their understanding that modern luxury villa design must address the complete lifestyle of their clients. Their exteriors and landscapes aren't just beautiful backdrops—they're functional spaces designed for entertaining, relaxation, and daily living.
From outdoor kitchens that rival their indoor counterparts to wellness areas that promote health and relaxation, every element is designed to enhance the quality of life for residents. The integration of technology, sustainable systems, and artistic elements creates properties that are as smart as they are beautiful, representing the pinnacle of modern luxury villa design.

All Weather teamed up with the Property Brothers and legendary artist Snoop Dogg on this week’s episode of HGTV’s hit series CELEBRITY IOU. In the Snoop Dogg’s Winning Gift episode, Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, the 50 year old hip hop icon, songwriter, and media personality aka Snoop Dogg, trades in his mic for a sledgehammer and helps transform his close friend and business partner Commish’s old detached garage into a personalized luxury retreat meets home office where he can work, have a space for league meetings or just take time out to relax with his family and friends .
Khalil ‘Commish’ Wadood has spent more than 17 years humbly serving the Compton Community as the commissioner of Snoop Dogg’s Youth Football League. Snoop credits Commish for brining his vision to life. His dedication to the leagues is what helped the program succeed. “He’s graced so many kids and families and serves as a family figure to many,” praised Snoop Dogg. “It’s time he gets what he deserves. This is something I wanted to do for him to just let him know I love him and I care about him. He never dreamed of it or wanted it, but it still is a dream come true.”
All Weather SERIES 7000 Swing Doors with sidelites welcomes friends and family to this life-changing, multi purpose retreat renovation that features a cutting edge kitchen that is outfitted with the latest technology. From built-in microwave oven and mini bar to an induction cooktop to the 60-inch TV what rises out of the countertop.
