This North Dartmouth, MA homeowner is enjoying her beautiful year round sunroom! After years of wanting a sunny retreat for her home – this customer finally hired Care Free Homes to make that sunroom dream a reality! Featuring Low E Argon, insulated, double pane windows and a scenisunroom dartmouth, mac view of her backyard, the homeowner chose sliding windows (one active and one fixed) to invite a gentle breeze in warmer weather. A single, full view, thermal insulated passage door steps out to the backyard. Trapezoid openings are currently enclosed with insulated foam panels that can be upgraded to insulated glass in the future. Tongue and groove pine panels, installed both vertically and horizontally, were painted white to add a coastal New England flair. Past customers have also added the warmth of wood to their sunroom by opting for beautiful wood plank ceilings. To accommodate the homeowners request for a large sunroom, engineering required the construction of both a conventionally framed asphalt roof and an aluminum clad 6-inch foam filled structural roof panel. This gold and walnut modern credenza would make the perfect storage cabinet in nearly any environment. Our clients are from Indiana but have been coming to Northern Michigan for about 50 years. They originally learned about our firm through an article in Traverse the Magazine where our owner, Stephanie Baldwin, provided information about working with a design firm. They then toured a couple of our projects during a parade of homes and decided they were ready to hire for their family's cottage needs. They already owned a cottage on Walloon Lake, but were ready to design and build a new cottage in its place for more room for their family. They wanted low maintenance materials and a timeless, Northern Michigan lake cottage style. The ultimate design was completed to take advantage of the lake views and access as well as creating plenty of room for family to stay while considering aging in place. The end result is a stunning home that will be enjoyed by the entire family for generations to come.

Shots of our iconic shed "Hanssel or Gretel". A play on words from the famous story, due to the families last name and this being a his or hers (#heshed #sheshed or #theyshed), but not a play on function. This dynamic homeowner crew uses the shed for their private offices, alongside e-learning, meeting, relaxing and to unwind. This 10'x10' are requires no permit and can be completed in less that 3 days (interior excluded). The exterior space is approximately 40'x40', still required no permitting and was done in conjunction with a landscape designer. Our clients wanted a fun room that allowed them to relax, read, and practice yoga. Our Montecito studio realized our clients’ vision by taking advantage of the big windows on the room and turning a wall into a design focal point with this beautiful color from Sherwin Williams called Merlot. The room is now called The Merlot, and in addition to relaxation and reading, they use it to enjoy a glass of wine and unwind. The oversized ottoman is the cherry on top as it’s the perfect piece to add style and can be used to relax as well. Project designed by Montecito interior designer Margarita Bravo. Designed by Cat Neitzey of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Fredericksburg VA in collaboration with Craig Schafer of ACS Contracting, this kitchen sunroom design features Merillat Classic Tolani cabinets with a Cotton finish on the perimeter and Boardwalk finish on the kitchen island. The kitchen also features a perimeter countertop and full height backsplash in Spectrum Sterling quartz with Caesarstone Turbine on the island and a Kohler Whitehaven Hayridge Farmhouse Cast Iron kitchen sink. “I really enjoyed doing my research to help the client bring their vision to life. They were so open to ideas and my suggestions. The design inspiration was pulled from the client’s love of McGee & Co.'s elegant simplicity and eye for organization detail. I used my favorite floor tile, Grespania Trivoli Blanco, which was so perfect with the Boardwalk maple island. We do not often get to drill into so much detail with cabinet inserts and the functionality of every inch the way this homeowner wanted to. I learned so much from their input,” said Cat. “The choice of the Kohler Whitehaven Hayridge sink is an amazing modern touch. We installed a drip ledge detail below the sink that adds another layer to this focal point. Our biggest challenge was envisioning a new island where a previous peninsula and knee wall were.” “Cat was thorough with timelines and updates,” said the client. “She put us first and what was best for our plan. The kitchen renovation moved quickly and Cat would make spontaneous visits to monitor the project. This busy family of four wanted to better utilize their space and enjoy a beautiful new colourful aesthetic. The main floor tile, trimwork, and kitchen were completely remodeled. As well we moved walls and switched the placement of family room and dining room. Upstairs, the ensuite bathroom needed an update and again functionality as well as beauty was important for the homeowner.
