No major renovation was needed in this home to achieve the family’s ideal area, therefore our team focused on lightening up the dark kitchen by painting the existing cabinetry, installing new countertops, backsplash and hardware. We also replaced the existing dark red cherry floors with solid oak floors that opened up the space. In working with the family on making sure their redesign met all of their needs, we learned that two of the client’s children have lung diseases that needed to be taken into account when making material selections. The new hardwood floors had to be solid wood and have no composite or glue, to mitigate anything synthetic. Thus, making sure their home was not only aesthetically pleasing for them but also a safe space to enjoy together for years to come.

Our clients wanted a fun room that allowed them to relax, read, and practice yoga. Our Miami studio realized our clients’ vision by taking advantage of the big windows on the room and turning a wall into a design focal point with this beautiful color from Sherwin Williams called Merlot. The room is now called The Merlot, and in addition to relaxation and reading, they use it to enjoy a glass of wine and unwind. When Chris Kehoe arrived on site to learn more about the home layout, budget, and timeline for the homeowners, it became clear that there was far more to the story. Shots of our iconic shed "Hanssel or Gretel". A play on words from the famous story, due to the families last name and this being a his or hers (#heshed #sheshed or #theyshed), but not a play on function. This dynamic homeowner crew uses the shed for their private offices, alongside e-learning, meeting, relaxing and to unwind. This 10'x10' are requires no permit and can be completed in less that 3 days (interior excluded). The exterior space is approximately 40'x40', still required no permitting and was done in conjunction with a landscape designer.
