With the nearest major town almost 45 minutes away, it was essential this vacation home offered all the amenities for entertainment and relaxation. Spire worked with the client to create the perfect lake house retreat with comfort and convenience during any season or weather. The living room with an attached game room is a versatile space that offers endless entertainment. A 65” TV was installed over the fireplace in the custom stone wall. The adjustable mount allows the TV to lower for comfortable viewing from either the couch or pool table. A pair of Meridian Audio DSP7200 custom color matched speakers equipped with a Meridian Audio 218 digital controller were strategically installed on each side of the fireplace. The floor-standing speakers compliment the natural stone while providing astonishingly life-like sound, perfect for streaming live concerts. The powerful audio extends to the upper level of the home. Spire installed B&W 700 series bookshelf speakers in the executive office and a Triad custom speaker bar in the master bedroom. This breakfast area had a tremendous amount of sunlight coming into this part of the home, where the space wasn't a very enjoyable place to get the day started. Now, with the addition of plantation shutters, the light control has dramatically enhanced the area and has cut down the amount of heat in this space. These shutters were an outside mount on a one inch frame due to the windows being out of square; even some of the most out of square windows have hope! The specialty arch in a sunburst louvre pattern features independently operated louvres and are fully functional.

On hot summer days the pool’s spacious 12’ x 30’ tanning shelf is the place to enjoy water-cooled relief. The pool boasts a continuously operating in-floor cleaning system which not only keeps it clean but also reduces heating costs by circulating the warm water across the bottom of the pool away from country breezes.

The spaces are practical, easy to keep clean and designed to create a free flowing space that opens up to nature beyond the large triple glazed Passive House windows. Built-in cubbies and shelving help keep everything organized and there is no wasted space in the house - Enough space for yoga, visiting family, relaxing, sculling boats and two home offices. The most frequent comment of visitors is how relaxed they feel. Originally built for Pamplemousse's 5th anniversary, this wine cellar proves classic and timeless with distressed maple doors and traditional redwood racking behind them. Vintage Wine Cellars and Jeffrey Strauss, famed Chef and incredible philanthropist in San Diego, have a long history of working together.. In addition to this cellar and multiple others in the Pamplemousse Restaurant grounds, we also had the pleasure of designing and building Jeffrey's personal home cellar as well. Completed in 2018, this 12ft x 26ft linear pool is one of our favorites, occupying a unique setting on a beach dune in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. It features custom glass tile work and a 6ft x 6ft elevated spa with a 24″ hybrid granite spillway, saving our clients on operating cost. The pool environment includes a large travertine deck with a custom layout, travertine coping, and a 24″ fire bowl on the back side of the spa for unbelievable night spa use. Note that that all Aqua Pools come with self cleaning floor system that also circulates the water from the bottom, resulting in extremely low maintenance and polished water, not to mention a very large Return On Investment when heating the pool. Our pools are always clean and clear 24/7 for our clients total’s enjoyment. We also incorporate all our pools with a Pebble Tec Pebble Sheene finish, in this case in Blue Granite, which includes a life time warranty so our clients never have to renovate the pool’s interior finish – only the best for All Aqua Pools clients.

For this project, the goals were straight forward - a low energy, low maintenance home that would allow the "60 something couple” time and money to enjoy all their interests. Accessibility was also important since this is likely their last home. In the end the style is minimalist, but the raw, natural materials add texture that give the home a warm, inviting feeling. The home has R-67.5 walls, R-90 in the attic, is extremely air tight (0.4 ACH) and is oriented to work with the sun throughout the year. As a result, operating costs of the home are minimal. The HVAC systems were chosen to work efficiently, but not to be complicated. They were designed to perform to the highest standards, but be simple enough for the owners to understand and manage. The owners spend a lot of time camping and traveling and wanted the home to capture the same feeling of freedom that the outdoors offers. The spaces are practical, easy to keep clean and designed to create a free flowing space that opens up to nature beyond the large triple glazed Passive House windows. Built-in cubbies and shelving help keep everything organized and there is no wasted space in the house - Enough space for yoga, visiting family, relaxing, sculling boats and two home offices. The most frequent comment of visitors is how relaxed they feel. This is a result of the unique connection to nature, the abundance of natural materials, great air quality, and the play of light throughout the house. The exterior of the house is simple, but a striking reflection of the local farming environment. The materials are low maintenance, as is the landscaping. This breakfast area had a tremendous amount of sunlight coming into this part of the home, where the space wasn't a very enjoyable place to get the day started. Now, with the addition of plantation shutters, the light control has dramatically enhanced the area and has cut down the amount of heat in this space. These shutters were an outside mount on a one inch frame due to the windows being out of square; even some of the most out of square windows have hope! The specialty arch in a sunburst louvre pattern features independently operated louvres and are fully functional.
