Design objectives: Create a sense of spaciousness Increase storage for bathroom necessities and daily routines Enhance lighting THE REMODEL Design challenges to be solved: No structural changes – must keep the tub and wall structure Transforming a small, dark space into a bright, open one without adding a new window Multi-user-minded – Improving functionality for multiple users simultaneously Timeless & kid-friendly – create a comfy kid-friendly look that won’t appear dated as the kids grow older THE RENEWED SPACE Design solutions: Slimmer Tub and Sliding Shower Door installed to free up functional space, making the bathroom feel larger. Lighter Materials used to reflect more light and add a vibrant feel. Open shelves above the toilet provide storage without making the space feel cramped, while allowing light from the existing window to permeate. Dual Sink Vanity added, and split the mirror into two, creating individual stations for the kids and enhancing usability during busy routines. Kid-Friendly Features – Incorporated toe-kick lighting that works as a nightlight, a lower-mounted shower handheld, and a large, accessible shower niche. The geometric shapes and blue color palette contribute to a fun yet sophisticated look. The clients are thrilled with the transformation. These clients were looking for a designer/builder that would handle everything from concept to completion, providing peace of mind for themselves! “Working alongside Renovisions was a pleasant experience” said our clients as we cared to understand their vision, needs, wants and desires, enabling us to execute their projects successfully and professionally. During the design phase, our well-organized staff listened to the client’s requests and combined several design elements that produced a beautiful, calming and transitional feel to the new kitchen space. During the remodel phase, the clients had these top 5 items on the list of enhancements: * High- functioning ventilation to clear as much odors as possible (When we first met with the clients, they stated, “Something very fishy was going on in their outdated kitchen. Although they enjoyed cooking fish dinners, they fishy odors often annoyed them)! Renovisions designed and installed a wood hood in matching light gray painted finish with a hood liner that provided the maximum ventilation, while staying within the proper building code of a 350cfm air exchange, without having to add a make -up air system which would have added to the cost of the project. *Better functioning ‘Spinner Storage’ for interior storage. The clients loved them in their old kitchen; we furnished and installed new and better-quality spinners storage units. *A unique opening between the kitchen and family room that allowed homeowners to pass meals through as they enjoyed a movie from the family room. *A Smart-Divide porcelain enamel sink with stainless steel grids allow plenty of room for dirty dishes, pots and pans as well as separate areas to prep and wash dishes as needed. * Anti-glare finishes were a must have for these clients; kitchen cabinetry in a matte gray neutral finish, faucet and cabinet hardware in a matte black finish and stunning Cambria quartz countertops in a suede finish set the stage. At completion phase, homeowners were ensured that they were receiving high-quality products, style and craftmanship in the most efficient time frame and were thrilled with look of their new kitchen that also provided plenty of prep, entertaining and seating space. The success of this project began with engaging our firm First, it was all about the trees. Due to its deteriorating condition, the asphalt roll roofing on this ADU required replacement before the Fall rains. Asphalt roll roofing generally lasts only 5-10 years, leading to ongoing maintenance challenges. The original 1×10 sheathing showed significant sagging in several spots, resulting in standing water not suitable for asphalt. Additionally, there was a complete absence of ventilation after improper installation of R-21 fiberglass insulation, leaving no air gap between the sheathing and insulation. A noticeable hump along the center of the roof indicated that the load-bearing wall had been supporting that section since construction, contributing to light sagging between the walls. The old roof was completely removed down to the joists, revealing a solid base for the new installation. The central hump was eliminated by shaving the high point along that line. 2×6 beams were ripped in half then nailed on top of the existing joists, creating a 1.5″ gap for insulation and providing strong attachment points for the OSB sheathing, which was secured with screws to prevent any potential issues with nail heads popping through over the roof’s expected lifespan of over 50 years. The EPDM membrane was then adhered using glue and contact cement along the edges of each sheet, with the ends folded over the roof edges and secured with termination bars. Drip edge flashing was added and taped to ensure a water-tight seal, and EPDM-safe caulking was applied over the seams for additional protection. Finally, all exposed wood was primed and painted. The new roof features a 60mil commercial-grade EPDM rubber membrane, offering a lifespan exceeding 50 years, in stark contrast to the 5-10 year lifespan of asphalt roll roofing. Using two sheets of EPDM for installation streamlined the process, resulting in one single seam across the entire roof, compared to the asphalt roll’s dimensions of 3 feet wide by 33 feet long, which created 8 vertical seams and 9 horizontal seams—significantly increasing the risk of leakage and failure. Wrapping the rubber over the edge of the roof effectively addressed concerns about water infiltration at the edges, an issue prevalent with the asphalt and drip edge interface. Another benefit to removing the splitting 1×10 decking and replacing it with OSB sheathing is the increase in structural integrity, moisture resistance, longevity and consistency. The project successfully transformed the ADU’s roof from a maintenance-prone asphalt roll system to a highly durable 60mil EPDM rubber membrane. By addressing critical structural issues, including sagging sheathing and inadequate ventilation, the team ensured that the new roof not only offers superior water resistance and longevity but also meets higher performance standards for insulation and durability. The replacement process eliminated common weak points, such as numerous seams and poor edge sealing, which were vulnerabilities in the old roofing system. The result is a streamlined, secure installation that provides peace of mind and long-term value, with a lifespan extending well beyond the original roof.

A notable pinch point in the plan—where differing geometries converged—was treated as a hinge point, turning a potentially awkward juncture into an architectural feature. These were the problems plaguing the World of Beer Bar in Tampa Bay, FL, when they got in touch with us for an outdoor bar pergola solution. Outdoor Project They wanted to entertain massive crowds of people and watch parties, but the guests could be limited to an outdoor seating space due to the area’s pandemic restrictions. The solution for the restaurant patio cover was the louvered roof system. The World of Beer Bar decided on a modern pergola with an automated louvered roof to create an outside terrace where their customers can enjoy Super Bowl while maintaining the government’s SOPs due to the pandemic. Grey bronze structure to match the bar’s overall look We installed grey bronze structures that go very well with the sports bar’s overall look and ambiance. They also asked for white louvers to perfectly contrast with the grey bronze structures giving the outdoor bar pergola a more sophisticated yet friendly vibe. The pergolas were designed to perfectly blend with the bar’s exterior, offering the perfect place for beer and sports enthusiasts to connect over their favorite teams in the Super Bowl. Outdoor bar pergola features and Azenco’s solutions As a result, we created an amazing restaurant patio design for the World of Beer Bar to entertain their guests outside even during the pandemic restrictions. The louvered system was designed to blend with the sports bar’s look, so the structures were attached to the outdoor wall and crafted in grey bronze while the louvers were white. Before the renovation, it was just an uncovered terrace on the second story of the patio. But now it’s the perfect outdoor sitting area for customers who come to enjoy the outdoors and watch Super Bowl. The elegant-looking louvers protect the customers from rain or the sun, while the uncovered part gives guests the perfect outdoor experience. Not to mention that Azenco successfully installed the louvered roof before the Super Bowl 2021 started as the client needed to arrange an outdoor terrace to receive the guests. Breaking ground in 2013 and taking about 5 months to build, The Willow is home to a fun-loving family of five. When we were brought onboard the homeowners had a few main design points to ensure long term success. First, the need for a lot of room, either entertaining or relaxing the perfect place cannot be hard to find. True to syle and true to self. From the ground up this home would resonate with their lifestyle and sensibilities, setting the stage for natural materials and a shabby chic (chique) aesthetic. Lastly, to solidify a successful future the home had to somewhat organic. It had to be able to adapt, change and grow with (and like) all the members of the family. Vancouver's Telus World of Science approached us for partnership in realizing their vision of a highly engaging learn-through-play space, The Wonder Gallery. Their thorough preparation for this new area - for children in their budding developmental years (0-5yrs) - meant that special and varied requirements were critical in successfully fulfilling their design mandate. Collaboration with a diverse roster of professionals helped us to achieve this. The project's intentions and safety considerations underpinned our process in realizing the beautifully interactive Wonder Gallery. To ensure safe, tactile play, we considered specifics such as corner and surface treatments, material durability and compatibility, and hygiene. Colourful inlays, solid hardwoods, and lasting non-toxic and easily repairable finishes were some strategies we implemented to make this a project with our hallmark Anthill characteristics. This complex space debuted in the Spring of 2017 to great success. Caregivers, kids, and staff alike have provided resoundingly positive feedback. We were left enthusiastic for future collaborations with the wonderfully creative Science World team.
