Overlooking Little Sippiwisset marsh, this home combines both shingle style and traditional Victorian elements including a round "turret" in the second floor master bedroom. Upon entering the front door you are immediately greeted by a baby grand piano and the spectacular ever changing tidal marsh beyond. The walkout basement features a traditional wine cellar with seating area and outdoor spa to relax and enjoy the views.

Our Indianapolis design studio designed a gut renovation of this home which opened up the floorplan and radically changed the functioning of the footprint. It features an array of patterned wallpaper, tiles, and floors complemented with a fresh palette, and statement lights. Keeping the landscaping minimal allows the dynamics of the architecture to take center stage. In the evening, the house glows from within, offering yet another phase to its ever-changing environment. If money were no object, however, Bobbie has images of completely re-doing the entire grounds. "I'd love reflecting pools, new concrete hardscaping, core-ten steel details and amazing large scale minimalist sculptures," she states. "I really love the work of landscape architect Andrea Cochran. I'd hire her in a heartbeat." While future plans do entail new patio surfaces and more trees, the grounds of this Irwin Stein gem certainly offer a captivating view from any angle. Overview Whole house refurbishment, double storey wrap around extension and large loft conversion. The Brief Create a WOW factor space, add glamour and fun and give the house a street side and garden side, both different. Our Solution This project was exciting from the start, the client wanted to entertain in a WOW factor space, have a panoramic view of the garden (which was to be landscaped), add bedrooms and a great master suite. We had some key elements to introduce such as an aquarium separating two rooms; double height spaces and a gloss kitchen, all of which manifest themselves in the completed scheme. Architecture is a process taking a schedule of areas, some key desires and needs, mixing the functionality and creating space. New spaces transform a house making it more valuable, giving it kerb appeal and making it feel like a different building. All of which happened at Ailsa Road.
