Home away from home is where we often meet our clients, especially in Bend. They crave a welcoming and approachable, yet luxurious and well curated vacation home. This custom home in Central Oregon’s Caldera Springs neighborhood was no exception. An investment property the owners and their family will use occasionally, the home had to speak to their overall aesthetic, while graciously accommodating rental guests throughout the year. Design for each space was a collaboration with our clients, who selected “inspiration” fabrics and artwork that tell a story and bring warmth and personality to the home. We designed hard-wearing custom furniture, composed layers of luxe bedding, placed photography by local artist and photographer Chris Murray, and added comfortable and low maintenance furniture outside, where everyone wants to be year-round in Bend. Working with the property manager, we checked every item off a comprehensive list to outfit the chef’s kitchen and ensure guests would have all the comforts of home. When you're working with a small home, ever inch of space must count! And this home was no exception! My clients had a veritable museums worth of treasures they wanted to display, family art they wanted to hang and even a piano that need to be comfortably accessible for playing and daily practice! This home, located in a historic area of Dallas, was an opportunity to satisfy a client with very discerning taste. To suit his level of entertaining, he desired a sophisticated, old NY lounge style, powder room for guests. The bathroom was completely gutted except for the 48” tall wainscoting that remains an important element of the room’s ambiance. The stall shower in the room was removed and the commode relocated in its place, out of the direct line of vision. All fixtures are custom pieces, including a vanity with semi-precious stone counter. Exquisite custom Sherle Wagner fixtures were selected for the sink and faucet along with the vanity drawer pulls, towel ring, toilet paper holder and grab bar. A burled wood, antique-inspired accent table beautifully complements the custom upholstered chair. The outdoor area is decadent with lots of amenities. Travertine flooring, A/C and heated pool cabana boasts a custom onyx underlit table and folding glass doors, outdoor glass rock fireplace ensures the beautiful light stucco does not get dirty from wood burning. It was nearly a three year project from start to finish. There are so many gorgeous rooms. This home isn’t afraid to be in the limelight. The bold checker board flooring in the entry makes a big statement. Chic décor throughout from the glamours chandelier, stunning dining room furniture and custom built in buffet cabinetry. The heart of the home is always the kitchen and this one is no exception. High contrast creates interest and depth in this transitional kitchen.
