We renovated our kitchen, keeping the existing cabinets, appliances and layout, with the help of Rhode Island Kitchen and Bath. Lynne Shore had a glint in her eye when she showed us her initial design: it included a glass backsplash (something I loved seeing on Houzz) with handmade felts behind it. I make felts from unspun wool (see my website for full explanation: robynadaniel.com). This is a truly unique way to display them. The result is a colorful, easy care backsplash.
From the before and after photos you can see we took down the wall on the left and also changed the floor and countertops. It feels like a new kitchen!

Approaching this beautiful mountain home is a feast for the eyes. The allure and stunning beauty not only comes from the minute details of the home and landscaping but from the grand vistas that encompass it. Be prepared ….the moment one steps over the threshold all perception of what a typical mountain home can be changes in an instant.
A perfect explanation of what is presented is modern meets mountain. The elegant, simply unique home features a fresh approach to mountain living. Consistency and continuity are the fundamental features of this special home. Certain elements run throughout the interior; engineered wide oak flooring, white horizontal plank paneling, and gray fresh split stone adorn the walls and limestone countertops in various rooms. However, as your eye follows the quiet, clean lines they are intermittently interrupted with a dash of splash here and a pop of color there that are placed precisely in the right spots.

The homeowner chose some great colors. Since the windows are plastic they have about 5 years left before needing replacing. Then they should be replaced with black window sashes. The problem is that some manufacturers do not design painted windows correctly. For a better explanation go here: http://www.oldhouseguy.com/painting-windows/
Notice the scallops are painted out and the panels added below the bay window. Two new windows are added to the garage and that really makes the house look like a house. Notice the base of the window casing - way too thick.

Andrew’s taste for a clean, Contemporary and masculine interior, transferred into using wood and leather elements to warm up the space. Our design process was largely remote, sending options to this client by email, paired with thorough explanations and recommendations. With this, Andrew was able to make wise decisions within his budget.

This new construction home is located in Hinsdale, Illinois. The main goal of this kitchen was to create a real cook’s kitchen– great for entertaining and large family gatherings. The concept was to have this working kitchen loaded with appliances completely hidden since the space is open to the family room. O’Brien Harris Cabinetry in Chicago (OBH) seamlessly integrated the kitchen into the architecture. They created concealed appliance storage and designed cabinetry to look like furniture. The back wall of the kitchen was designed to look like a beautiful, paneled wall. The ovens were located off to the side – pulled up on legs so it felt lighter and not so heavy. OBH designed metal cuffs at the cabinet base so the unit looks like a piece of furniture. This kitchen has all the function but still is beautiful. obrienharris.com

This 1970s ranch home in South East Denver was roasting in the summer and freezing in the winter. It was also time to replace the wood composite siding throughout the home. Since Colorado Siding Repair was planning to remove and replace all the siding, we proposed that we install OSB underlayment and insulation under the new siding to improve it’s heating and cooling throughout the year.
After we addressed the insulation of their home, we installed James Hardie ColorPlus® fiber cement siding in Grey Slate with Arctic White trim. James Hardie offers ColorPlus® Board & Batten. We installed Board & Batten in the front of the home and Cedarmill HardiPlank® in the back of the home. Fiber cement siding also helps improve the insulative value of any home because of the quality of the product and how durable it is against Colorado’s harsh climate.
We also installed James Hardie beaded porch panel for the ceiling above the front porch to complete this home exterior make over. We think that this 1970s ranch home looks like a dream now with the full exterior remodel. What do you think?
