This 3200 square foot home features a maintenance free exterior of LP Smartside, corrugated aluminum roofing, and native prairie landscaping. The design of the structure is intended to mimic the architectural lines of classic farm buildings. The outdoor living areas are as important to this home as the interior spaces; covered and exposed porches, field stone patios and an enclosed screen porch all offer expansive views of the surrounding meadow and tree line. The home’s interior combines rustic timbers and soaring spaces which would have traditionally been reserved for the barn and outbuildings, with classic finishes customarily found in the family homestead. Walls of windows and cathedral ceilings invite the outdoors in. Locally sourced reclaimed posts and beams, wide plank white oak flooring and a Door County fieldstone fireplace juxtapose with classic white cabinetry and millwork, tongue and groove wainscoting and a color palate of softened paint hues, tiles and fabrics to create a completely unique Door County homestead. The kitchen was the most dramatic change- we put in a beam to open up the wall between the kitchen and dining area. We also eliminated the cabinets on the far wall so we could re introduce a window that had been eliminated in a prior remodeling. The back door is in the far left in the picture.

Below Buchanan is a basement renovation that feels as light and welcoming as one of our outdoor living spaces. The project is full of unique details, custom woodworking, built-in storage, and gorgeous fixtures. Custom carpentry is everywhere, from the built-in storage cabinets and molding to the private booth, the bar cabinetry, and the fireplace lounge. Creating this bright, airy atmosphere was no small challenge, considering the lack of natural light and spatial restrictions. A color pallet of white opened up the space with wood, leather, and brass accents bringing warmth and balance. The finished basement features three primary spaces: the bar and lounge, a home gym, and a bathroom, as well as additional storage space. As seen in the before image, a double row of support pillars runs through the center of the space dictating the long, narrow design of the bar and lounge. Building a custom dining area with booth seating was a clever way to save space. The booth is built into the dividing wall, nestled between the support beams. The same is true for the built-in storage cabinet. It utilizes a space between the support pillars that would otherwise have been wasted. The small details are as significant as the larger ones in this design. The built-in storage and bar cabinetry are all finished with brass handle pulls, to match the light fixtures, faucets, and bar shelving. White marble counters for the bar, bathroom, and dining table bring a hint of Hollywood glamour. White brick appears in the fireplace and back bar. To keep the space feeling as lofty as possible, the exposed ceilings are painted black with segments of drop ceilings accented by a wide wood molding, a nod to the appearance of exposed beams. Every detail is thoughtfully chosen right down from the cable railing on the staircase to the wood paneling behind the booth, and wrapping the bar.

We introduced architectural warmth with exposed wood beams and new white oak hardwood flooring to brighten and expand the main living areas. Larger windows were incorporated to maximize natural light, supported by custom glasswork and a thoughtfully planned electrical and lighting approach. A custom stone surround for the electric fireplace became a central feature - balancing elegance and comfort. The kitchen was fully redesigned with coordinated wood tones and stone surfaces to create a cohesive palette throughout. For the primary suite, we created a calm retreat inspired by the feel of a boutique Parisian hotel, paired with a spa-like bathroom featuring dramatic black stone slabs and a freestanding tub for a timeless, elevated finish.

Renovated as a high‐end project in Princeton, NJ, this transitional kitchen remodel pairs white cabinetry and a subway tile backsplash with a marble island and quartz countertops for a fresh, bright space. The open concept layout, functional design, and custom storage ensure convenience, while exposed beams add warmth and character. This kitchen was designed to accentuate the existing farmhouse structure with it's natural river landscape surrounding the property. Incorporating large french doors and floor to ceiling windows maximizes the views of the river and allows for plenty of natural lighting. The reflective Diamond Gloss finish on the cabinetry is a sharp contrast to the rustic barn board and exposed wood beams. Industrial accents can be found throughout this home, marrying the old with the new.
